POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

We just booked Pop yesterday for a vacation for Easter! We're excited! Can someone do a recap of the buildings that have been refurbished so far? I have read through most of this thread...but wanted to get a concise list. Also...should we just wait and request a certain building upon check-in...or...should we fax or call something in? We have had good success at doing requests at check-in, however; this year we are arriving late to the resort...so we may not be able to request anything...what do you all think?

Crystal, I always request on the reservation prior to arriving. We haven't always gotten our requests right at check in but I always say "were you able to meet our requests"? They then always fix our room to be what we requested. Maybe we have been lucky but I at least don't feel like I am asking them to go out of their way since I already requested it orginally. I always ask nicely.

By the way we stayed at POP last summer and stayed in the 80 section, bldg 9 I think. It was awesome because it was a great shortcut to the buses and not a long walk to Classic Hall!

Now for my next question...which sections have been refurbished? I believe that I read about the 60s, 70s and part of 80s...I could be totally wrong, though!


Thanks for all of this great information! We have stayed at Pop numerous times in the past and love the resort! It's great that it is getting refurbed!

As of the last report.. all of building 6 (which is ACTUALLY the 70's area).. and at least one floor of a building in the 80's area are opened to receive guests.

Work continues in the 80's / 90's area at last report.

I arrive tomorrow!

I put in a room request for ground floor lake view. I checked in online. I also sent a fax on Friday. This was all before I knew these rooms were being assigned. Would it do any good now to call Pop and ask for a refurbed ground floor room in 70's??

Or would that be too pesky of me?

Its not.

When you call the resorts.. it's a call center. And as you might expect - they know diddly squat about anything. Just ask for what you want when you check in..

That's what I thought but they transferred me from the call center to Pop, and the new CM answered the phone "Pop Century Resort". Her name was Trinity. I asked her repeatedly and she said it just changed. I'm guessing she just didn't want to do anything.

So if I did online check in and I arrive at 7:30pm, my chances of getting a refurb ground floor lake view room are probably slim to none!

CHECKING IN FROM POP!!!!!!

We checked in yesterday at 8am and our CM (seemed very sleepy!) was nice and the check-in was very quick. Our room was not ready yet but she was able to tell us that we would be in building 6 !!!!!!!!!!! We had not gotten the text that the room was ready so I called just before 1pm just to see and the CM said it was ready and I got the text 5 mins later at 1:00 on the dot!!!


I'm currently sitting in my refurbed room in building 6 on the 4th floor. I called reservations and had them note I wanted building 6 and an upper floor room. I faxed a request confirming my arrival, etc. 3 days before I arrived. We are in a great room, I'll post pics soon..I'm on my brothers computer right now!! We love the new room! The beds were great and the privacy curtain was nice when getting ready this morning. The TV is also great but we have seen them at the deluxe resorts so its not a big deal for us but still very nice!

Our mousekeeper was great today. She decorated our window for my birthday and left us little animals at the sink and left extra towels, laundry bags, and tissues (for my poor allergy suffering brother!). She totally went above and beyond! I'm going to leave an extra tip for her at the front desk. I'm sure that is reliable enough?!

I did notice today that buiding 5 (I think) in the 60s section right beside the main pool has not been refubred. There was a wedding party checking into a few of the rooms along the pool side on 1st floor and had their door opened and I noticed it was the old bedding etc.

Can you see any buildings where it appears obvious work is being done?

Maybe you can talk a walk around the resort.. you know.. cause you got nothing better to do right? I mean come on.. please?

Just got back last night from 6 nights in a freshly refurbed Pop room!!! It was 6304 in the 60's building. We had a preferred room so it was just a very short walk to the food court & gift shop! Loved the plasma TV, privacy curtain, and brand new carpets!!
This was our first stay at a value resort & I must say that it was wonderful (as long as you don't dwell on the mod/deluxe comparison).
We loved that the food court was so spacious & the arcade was much bigger as well!! My DH & DS's also enjoyed the twister games & the ping pong table by the pool! Overall it was an absolutely lovely stay!!
I must comment though that the crowds for spring break this year were huge compared to our stay last year at the same time!! Definitely appears that the recession is lifting!!!!!

We love building 9!!! The shortcut to the buses is the best!

It's most likely you were not actuall transferred to Pop. They have a call center that answers in each resorts name

Is bldg#6 in the 60s section or the 70s? Looking at the map I thought it was in the 70s. I'll soon be sending a room request and was looking to get in bldg#6.

Staying at Pop in early May. I hope they are well along with the refurbs by then because I would love a new room. Do you all call with requests or fax or what? I am hoping for a refurb room with a king bed, I don't care where it is.

I am going to call soon and add the refurb request to my res. I would like something close, but not too noisy.

Are all of the pools really noisy from the rooms if you are on that side? Plus the fact that we are bringing a fridge, we don't want to be far out.

I was thinking of asking.

2. 50's, 60's or 70's

I don't want to get into too much detail but I want a good room.
