POP refurbed rooms with Flat Screens! Update Page 13 **

Does anyone have more pics of the rooms. I am so excited we will be there June 1-7.:cool1::banana::banana::banana::cool1:

I wonder if the privacy curtains will go in all rooms, or if they'll go in the preferred rooms only? At AS Music, not all buildings were given the privacy curtain when the rooms were rehabbed.

The refurbed rooms look great! Personally though, I would much rather have a fridge than a flat screen TV!

Wow, those look great !! I love the new bedspreads, flatscreen & the new carpet & the new shower curtains.

We love the POP, for the price, you can't beat them !!!

But, we started staying at the Wilderness Lodge in Dec 2008 & Dec 2009 & we just rescheduled our next vacatin for Dec 2010, we are WL addicts now. Which is a bit of a bummer because the price for POP Century is awesome, I LOVE the new TV's, can't wait to show my son !!!

:santa::santa::santa:

OK - sorry for the delay...I am one of the posters that reported staying in a new room on March 3 (6228). These aren't very good because we got there at night and were in a hurry to get DD2 to the food court, but here is at least verification that the rehab pictures on AllEars are valid.

I love the new rooms, but I wonder why they did not put back up the border around the top of the walls??? See the old rooms...

we stayed in 90's last week and had a refurbed room..........it was NICE

I presume paint is easier to maintain than a paper border plus a bit less expensive.

They painted one wall to match the comforters and that seems to be the decorative feature.

that makes sense, the one wall painted to be the decorative feature. But do think it's missing a border - even though I think the old borders were the ugliest ever! But it would have been cute to have a border matching the new comforters.

I'm on the airplane right now heading back to Cincinnati. We averaged 6 hours of sleep a night the whole time we were there so I'm going to catch up on sleep tomorrow after work and I'll post my pictures hopefully on Tues or Wed!!!

When I did my request, I called and asked for building 6 and upper floor room to be put on my room request. I faxed it in using the sample letter on the POP page on here and fixed it up a bit to make it my own and detailed it more just like how the sample letter was.

I put the request over the phone 5 days before I arrived and did the fax 3 days before I arrived. We were in room 6408.

Can't wait to see the pics!!! Get some rest. Isn't it strange that you have to come home from Disney to get some rest!!:lmao:

SIX HOURS!

That's "sleeping in" at Walt Disney World!;):)

Just got back last night. Spent six nights at Pop Century, room 6212. I called and requested a refurbished room the day before we arrived and was told I was speaking with the room scheduler at the front desk at Pop. She said she would put us in building 6. When we arrived, we were given a room in the 60's not in building 6. I asked and they found us a room in building 6. It was refurbed and in a perfect location -- 2nd floor room right next to the stairs by the Goofy jets. It was a very quiet location and easy to get to Classic Hall, parking, and the pool.

The room was nice and clean and does feel bigger. The new paint is pretty and I like the walls without the border. The flat screen and dresser are both nice but the dresser only has three drawers. It was not enough room for our family of four to unpack. I don't mind living out of a suitcase, so that didn't spoil the trip. The mattresses on the beds seem much thicker but are rock hard! We didn't sleep well all week. Hopefully, the mattresses will be broken in soon, but right now they are hard. The comforter is really thick and was too heavy for us to cover up with.

The carpet is really nice and has hidden Mickeys in the pattern. I didn't get a good picture of the carpet. It's really soft and felt good on bare feet. I think the peg rack is new in the room. It's good for hanging your jackets. The curtain separating the sink from the rest of the room was my favorite addition. I get up earlier than everyone else, and it was nice that I could get ready with the light on without blinding my sleeping family. The new curved shower rod is very nice, too. It made the tub seem bigger.

Overall, it's a great refurbishment. My only complaint this week with our room was the hard mattress. This was our 6th stay at Pop and we'll be happy to stay there again in the future. Pop is such a fun resort!

:sad2:Sorry about those hard beds. I hope they are broken in by the time we go in June.

Everyone who has pictures, can you please post them in the Pop Picture thread. I think Alot of people would love to see them there!

LOL! Thats my letter. I hear so many people using it now...and most with goodluck. I hope it works again whenever we go again.

Building 6 is in the 70's section. I know.. How counterintuitive. But believe me it is.

Faxing in requests does nothing to ensure you get them. To be sure you get your room requests simply have your requests noted on your reservation. That's it - that's all. The room assignor will see them (without having to shuffle thru a pile of faxes to find yours) and if he/she can meet your requests. They will.

The fax won't increase your odds at all.

Is bldg#6 in the 60s section or the 70s? Looking at the map I thought it was in the 70s. I'll soon be sending a room request and was looking to get in bldg#6.

Ooops, you are right we were in the 70's section! My excuse is that I am still recuperating from the 15 hour drive home!!!

Susan - thanx so much for the great photos! :thumbsup2

Don't you love building 6? It's become my favorite. Love walking out under the Mickey phone and seeing the Big Wheel, passing the Twister game and Goofy jets on the way to the Hippy Dippy or Everything Pop! Fun and quiet location! :lovestruc

Hope they honor my request for May! I've been lucky so far but I'm thinking more people might be requesting refurbed rooms.

We stayed here the weekend of the 12th. Lucky us we got one of the newly refurbished rooms in bldg 6. It was wonderful, it still had the new smell. We really liked the new carpeting. Sadly not all of the 70s buildings have been redone.

Just building 6 in the 70's so far is all we've confirmed.

I just booked a standard room for the middle of June. Can anyone tell me what the difference is exactly between a standard and a preferred room? Are there both types of rooms in each building/area of the resort or are they divided by room type? Sorry for asking so many questions but this is our first trip to Disney World.
