There were no regular pop rooms left, so we had to get preferred. Are they worth the extra cost? I am guessing not, but we shall see.

I wouldn't go any other way. Yes, it is worth the extra cost to be close to the bus stop & main building where the food court is. I can't believe that they didn't fill up first.

I agree with the PP, we always go preferred, we actually had a room ground floor by the Hippy Dippy Pool and loved it, we had no noise at night either.

We were there in June. After reading on here how "small" the resort is, we did a regular room. BIG MISTAKE. We were about 10 miles out. Lesson learned! ALWAYS pay the extra and go preferred!!:thumbsup2

I have a different perspective because I wanted to stay in the 80's building (not preferred). I didn't think we were that far away from the main building or the bus stops, in fact we found that we could cut through to the bus stops without going through the main hall which saved a lot of time. I guess it depends on how much you mind or don't mind walking just a little bit!

We usually do preferred. One time I wasn't in a preferred room and it was much further out. Preferred is great, especially if you will be bringing food from the food court to the room which we do often.

We did not stay in a preferred room. We didn't think the walk was far. We didn't mind the walk at all. In fact, my kids enjoyed looking around the resort on the way to and from our room.

We have gotten the preferred room everytime we have stayed at POP. Totally worth it in my opinion!! You won't be dissapointed.

We stayed near the Bowling Pin pool when we went and it wasn't a preferred room. It was just a little bit of a longer walk to the main building and bus stops, not a big deal. Not worth the extra $ in my opinion. Nothing like the room we had at POR! Very close to a bus stop but a VERY long walk to the main building! Next time there, I would pay extra for a closer room!

We always do a preferred room!! Close to everything, you won't be disappointed!! :thumbsup2

I've not stayed at Pop before (first time coming up though on the 13th!) but at the other values we always get a preferred room. Worth it in my opinion. When we booked at Pop, we paid for the preferred rooms. (We had to get 2 rooms because we exceed Disney's ideal family size of 2 adults and 2 children!!)

Done both. Depends which building you get for a regular room, some of those buildings are far away.

Two things I like about the preferred room. 1) A shorter walk at the end of the day. 2) After breakfast a shorter walk back to the room to leave the refillable mugs. Or you can bring breakfast back to the room and avoid the food court madness. Either way saves time in the morning.

Worth the extra money??

1st time at Pop, we didnt get preferred and it stunk! We have the refillable mugs and we didnt use them very much because are hotel was sooooo far away. The second time we paid for preferred and they tried to stick us in the same building. No No No. Its definately worth it to get the preferred.

We stayed at POP in October 2009 with a preferred room and I thought 'what a joke" we were in the 70's section, fourth floor, facing a parking lot- no tmy idea of a preferred room but it was theirs- oh well. When I stayed at AS Sports preferred we were literelly right on top of the main buildings and pool:confused3:confused3

Not worth it for me. I've stayed at POP about 5 times now....I finally booked a preferred room just to give it a try. We were on the ground floor, on the way to the parking lot/buses. There was a lot of foot traffic going by the room. A small playground was across the lawn. I hated it there.
On the other hand?? My favorite room was in the 60's section, standard room. Bldg 4, backside of the bldg, facing the lake, on the fourth floor!! OMG..the room was wonderful. It took about 4 mins to get to the food court and buses. It was so quiet and wonderful.
I've also been in 50's, both bldgs 1 and 2. Bldg 2, our room was the third floor, all the way at the end. We had to be about as far from the food court as you can be and still be on Pop property. But, just over 4 mins to the food court.

In the Rubic's cube bldg, it was a bit closer but not much. I really don't think Pop is spread out at all. Not at all close in size to POR..now, that's spread out!!! Distance from the food court and buses has never been an issue for me at POP..no matter where my room was.

I do know that I will never book a preferred room again..just not worth it for us.

We just got back from our first stay at POP and had a standard room in building #9 / 80's section with rubik's cube stairs. I thought this was a great location and only took a few minutes walk to the bus stop, and a minute or two more to the food court or main pool. The 70's building right next door was preferred and almost the same distance to things as our building. I'm glad I didn't spend extra money for preferred just to wind up next door.

IMO it's only worth it if you get a ground floor room. If not you have to walk to the elevator, then either backtrack to your room, or walk further past the elevators to your room which just adds to the distance. We had a 3rd floor room and I felt like I was walking out of the way just to get to my room. Now we ask for ground floor and cut out the extra.

I like the proximity of a preferred room....we always rent a car and this year we got a standard room. The parking lot to our section was on the other side of the main building and our room was all the way in the back by the lake. When we stayed preferred we had a 2 min walk to the car and about a min walk to the main building. We were on the second floor facing the courtyard it was perfect!

I am sure you will be happy with preferred, but in our experience it is not worth the money. We have stayed by both of the quiet pools with my 90 year old father and neither building was a far walk.
