Pop, pop, pop!!!!

Here we are at the end of Monday ( our first full day). After breakfast in the room consisting of Bananas, oranges, cookies and water we headed out to Animal Kingdom, arriving around 9:15am. I had decided to do things today that I had never done or not done in a long time. We started our day at Dinosaur ( never done before). Not nearly as intense as I thought it would be. Kelvin and Grace left us after this to head over to Everest. Stella and I took our time in Dino land before meeting back with Hubby and Grace and checking out Nemo the Musical ( never done this either). Lord, I forgot Nemo's mommy dies in the beginning........Lucky for me I had sweated out every drop of moisture and couldn't cry. Lunch was back in Dinoland. Way too much food and a melt down by Stella (The kids meals are way lacking for her, she wants the dessert on the adult menu). After lunch we checked out a few other attrations including Bugs life and Festival of the Lion King ( are you seeing my pattern? Walk and look for the next "cool" thing to do. I am not sure what the temp was today other than it was HOT!!!)

Around 3 we headed back to POP to get ready for our 4pm meet in the food court. Thinking I would have a quiet moment to chill turned into a loud moment listening to the construction going on upstairs. the entire top floor is currently under renovation ( note to all if you are coming to POP anytime soon and they try to put you in 60's building 4, ask to move. I swear they were drilling holes in the floor upstairs.

On to the meet. What fun that was!!! It was great meeting everyone! Susanwashere, cheshire figment, kitikat, Irishdadx4 and their kids, Mindy5767 and Michele and Jessica White. Kathy and Katie Werling also came.

You might be saying WOW! how does Teresa remember every ones names?

I had everyone sign my trip report book John had given me.

Susan even got Stella talking about her cats. And Yes Cheshire figment is a wealth of info in person too!! I learned quite a bit. I wish I would have taken notes.

I could talk about Irishdad here, but I wouldn't know where to begin......... And that's all I have to say about that. LOL!!! Just kidding Michael.. really.....no really.... YOu did give me the courage to call guest services to talk about the contruction.... and Yes we was moved to the 50's. We were happily going to our new room, Thinking about the flat screen tv you have in your room and the little curtain you have and we open the door to our new room only to discover it is identical to the room we just left. What's that about???????? I am now farther away from the pool and the eats... We walked in and both girls said "It's the same".

No time to complain.. we had 20 minute to get to Kona for our ressie. 8:10 res got us seated at 8:30. Stella was in tears and starving to death. Grace only wanted chicken noodle soup. We ended up paying out of pocket for hers. (Why waste a table service credit on soup.) Our meal with the extra few things we ordered came to $18.10.

This brings us to the total we have spent so far: Dinner/tip $40.00. and .50 Stella got in the food court to play a game.

Grand total for 2 days: $40.50

Today was great!!! Hubby and the kids are fast asleep. no fuss, no muss tonight, just one tiny squabble about Grace hogging the bed.

Tomorrow we hit Epcot! I have a feeling I will be spending alittle more (Stella has regular shopping stops in several countries)

Free dining totals so far are: table service, 2 adults, 1 child
Quick service 6 adults, 2 child, and snack credits 2

I need a Dr. Pepper and a roomy bed.

Nite all,

T.:)

the comment about the children's meal jogged my memory again..

i helped a friend reserve her stay at POR (she's there right now in fact)..

a few days after she made the reservation, i remembered that her daughter is 9 and would be stuck with children's free dining, i had her call disney and change her reservation to 4 adults, instead of 3 adults/1 child....the cost for the free dining is exactly the same, but this way they'll get 4 proper meals for the dining credits, rather than the kids meal, which simply wouldn't be enough for her 9 year old...

as for Pop - the refurbished room i was in was in the 90's, which is a bad location in terms of the resort layout, but the room was nicer - with the curtain and flat screen and comfortable bed...
i had them move me....they originally put me in the 50's....when i got to the room, i called and asked if they could move me to a refurbished room, no matter where it was.....they moved me to a room that was close to the parking lot (good for me, since i'd rented a car), but very far from everything else at pop...(and seemed even further in the heat )..

Teresa, you telling me you didn't cry at nemo when nemo sings proudly about her dad at the end?.....and when they tell each other "i love you"......i always cry at that part....and i've seen it about 25 times....i cry every time......how do you spell sap?

I remember the bed issues, the first time the girls had to share a bed. Now they keep the squabble down to a dull roar because I just ignore it. Also, after the first day of touring, everyone is so tired the issues are less.

when we were 4 in one room, DD and I were in one bed and DH and DS in the other...

actually made it easier that way - one little person with one big person....
but we did it not because of size but because we're not from arkansas.... (so brother and sister didn't have to share a bed)

We outgrew Pop's rooms a long time ago but we continue to stay there because 2 rooms are still cheaper than a bigger room elsewhere on property. My son is 6'1 and wouldn't sleep with anyone regardless of the size bed. I hate double beds--why are they even made? Really.
Last time, my daughter and I went alone and since I drove I brought two foam mattress toppers. Even though we were in the refurbed rooms I knew the beds would be hard and uncomfortable. The air toppers made all the difference in the world.
I hope you all get more sleep. Being sleep deprived at Disney is no fun, especially in the heat.

This thread is only 3 "o's" away from having something in common with the alpaca thread. :rolleyes1

I'm loving this...great work. I'm thinking about a quick trip in October for my birthday and I want to stay at POP. Have a great time today. Can't wait to read more.

We're here!! I am sweaty! We are in the 60's. Not sure where hubby is sleeping.... This bed ain't big enough for him and me!

That is soooooo DH and me. Two years ago we took an anniversary trip for F&W and there weren't any kings available... so we slept in separate beds... sooo romantic! :lovestruc :rotfl:

This part always gets me, too. I can't believe there were no tears from Teresa! :fish:

Tuesday dawned early as I woke at 5am with a sudden thought that I had left something in our old room. The tickets I had removed from our room keys!! I had layed them on top of the dresser and in our hurry to move last night I knew I didn't pick them up. I called the front desk and was told that they would contact housekeeping and housekeeping would contact me after their 10:30 morning meeting. About this time Grace opens her eyes and says "just use the old key room you kept and go back and get them" OK, smart butt. That was going to be my next thought...... I sent Kelvin out on this mission to retrieve the "package" from the old room. So he crept back to the old building, passing contruction workers and early morning guests in an attempt to leave what I forgot... You know, now that I think of it.. it was his job to get everything off of the dresser in the first place... He returned about 30 minutes later with the passes in hand and a sad story of how a few consruction workers were trying to get to the 4th floor in the elevator that only goes as far as the 3rd floor. He explained to them best he could that the crappy elevator to the left was their's and that it only goes to the 4th floor(we found this out on our first day, apparently this was their first day).

Our Rope Drop plans for Epcot didn't happen. The girls are moving in slow motion. Kelvin has gone back for a quick trip back to Animal Kingdom while we get ready. Grace is in the middle of her 3 hour morning shower and Stella is dressed, ready to go, but back in bed with her DS game thing, pop tart and Phen/Ferb on the TV. I hope to get a shower soon.. My Dr. Pepper supply is running low...... Hey Intern.... If you read this..... bring supplies!!!!!!

Loving the reports so far! Sorry about the bed issues....once you sleep in beds bigger than a double it is so hard to have to go back to a double & feels so small.

Wonder what kind of damage Stella will do to the monies at EPCOT????:lmao:

About how HOT is it temperature wise? We will be there tomorrow & I am just trying to prepare myself....it has been so hot here at home, that I can't imagine it being much worse.

We were posting at the same time, so I had to come back & add that I am surprised that you could still get in your old room. Glad you could to get the tickets back!!!! 3 hr shower dear lord you may never get to EPCOT.

Do you think Max will even think about you guys while he has the house to himself? (actually the way he worked for Pete I'm sure he is keeping up with this and is on his way to the grocery store to pick you up some more Dr Pepper!)

Great report so far, I'm loving the live snippets - sounds like this trip may make a good sitcom :happytv:

You know what, now I think about it this may be why I hate coming home from a Disney trip so much! We get used to the massive beds and come home and we're practically lying on top of each other!

T, make sure you consider the late night EMHs. You can sleep in and play in the parks super late with no lines! :)

at least she is using the hotel hot water and not yours. :) plus there still will be hot water for you.

Loving your reports Teresa. I have Dr Pepper here, too bad I can't send it your way through the internet.

Have a great day Teresa, et all. It's great to hear your thoughts on your stay at Pop. I agree that 4 "adults" is tough in the Values. You could always move over to a Moderate. :thumbsup2

i'm surprised they make people stay in buildings undergoing renovation..

when you make reservations, you're at the least expecting a proper room in a proper building, without bone rattling noise...

i mean really....it's not as if Pop is so cheap....yes, it's less expensive than the moderate and deluxe resorts, but you can definitely find less expensive accomodations off property.

so if i'm paying more than i would at motel 6, i should be getting something more for my money.....perhaps a relaxing vacation experience, not a construction site?

Now i understand they have to renovate. But you can close down a building while it's being renovated.

as for the tickets - what's the policy if you misplace your tickets? will they replace it? or are you out of luck?
