Pop seems to get the better reviews. Besides bus situation and theming, what does POP have that AsMovies does not?

I'd assume both are equally as crowded? Maybe more teen tour groups at all stars?

When were they each refurbished?
Curious from those that have stayed at both places. Trying to narrow it down.

We have stayed at both resorts and I like ASMo better. The rooms at ASMo were refurbished last year. The resort is smaller so less walking. We go in Sept so really never had a bus issue, sometimes you share a bus with other all star resorts and sometimes you don't. You don't say when you are planning on going or if you have young children or not. Both resorts have good food courts and great theming.

We prefer movies. You can't go wrong with either. I would pick whichever theme you prefer or which resort you find a better deal.

First week of may 2013 or oct 2013 so I have some time! My ds will be 7 when we go. I actually like the looks of movies rooms online better than Pops. I need a good kid friendly food court that handles allergies well( gluten free waffles and chicken tenders and fries are a must!). Is the bus ride longer from movies than pop? I am guessing there won't be the big tour groups at the time we go. Is movies really loud????? We are actually quiet people and don't like big crowds at the resort if possible. This will be first value stay. Only other stay was deluxe- paid for by the grandparents-so not going to be deluxe again!
Thanks to those who responded.

I have not found the values to be any louder than any other hotel. The food courts seem to be loud everywhere at all levels. They are large at values and moderates so expect them to be loud at peak times. I think both resorts are very kid friendly and I imagine will handle your child's allergies in the excellent fashion that WDW is known for. May or October are not prime times for tour groups.

We stayed at ASMo in a Toy Story room (preferred category -- room was 9911) and we did not find it super noisy at any point. Even mid-day when the pool was in full swing -- it wasn't too bad. The grounds are nice.. we walked through all the different sections and loved all of them. I haven't stayed at Pop but wanted to chime in on ASMo!!

I don't think you have to worry about food allergies at any Disney restaurant. They are aware of peoples food allergies and will help you around what you can eat and will even make special food for you. With the times you are going it won't be that crowded and I don't think you can say that Movies is any louder than any other resort. We always request the Mighty Ducks building. It has its own pool and is really close to ASMusic. We sometimes use ASMu food court and buses. Like I said before I think Movies is the smallest resort on Disney property. Movies is really close to AK and right next to Blizzard Beach. MK (other than DTD)is the farthest away. I haven't been to Pop in about 8 years so I don't recall how long the buses took.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond!!! We'd likely try for toy story or Dalmatians due to my sons interests. I need to look up how many pools movies has. I think it might be a good fit- other than long ride to mk which is where we spend our time! The redone rooms look cute too!!!!

I will head over to movies thread but was curious if they have tables to eat outside at the food court?!?

There are tables outside the food court to eat. There is an entire covered section right past the bar. Be aware that toy story, fantasia, and dalmations are all considered preferred rooms. I have stayed at all of the buildings except the love bug. Keep checking because I think the offer free dining the times you are planning to go.
