Grand Finale of the Day at Magic Kingdom
Now, I have read plenty of posts about people going to Wal-Mart while in the Mudda Country...and somehow no one EVER alluded to the fact that it is FAR AWAY, it is VERY, VERY FAR AWAY. In my mind I am thinking it is about 10 to 15 minutes away. It aint!

Wal-Mart is about ½ hour drive from the POP Century. I was driving and driving and driving, following the directions to the letter. James was in the back saying Oh forget it! Its too far away.
No, NO, NO, everybody on the Disboards goes there, and No one ever,
NOT ONCE mentioned that it was so friggen far away. I swear that I past a sign that read, You are Now Leaving Kissimmee and entering CUBA!! YES IT WAS THAT FAR AWAY!
Thanks everyone!
After at least a half hour drive (btw that is 1/4 of the time it took to fly from PA to Orlando) I found the much far away Wal-Mart!!
I had my list ready
, Cigarette lighter, Milk, bread, peanut butter, jelly, snack type food, cereal, cases of water, etc. All the essentials we would need for the next 11 days. Once I walked into Wal-Mart, I was quite relieved, it was exactly the same set up as the one at home. Along with, I swear, the same people who hang out at my
WalMart at home on late Sunday afternoons

. So I didnt need to waste anytime looking for things, I knew where they were. In fact, you could have blindfolded me, and I
STILL would have been able to find EVERYTHING! The BIG buys were a case of water for $2.50, got us 4 of them (as oppose to WDW water @ 2.50 a bottle) and they had Entenmanns Rich Chocolate Frosted Doughnuts on sale for 2 boxes for $5.00. They Angels sang! Even Wal-Mart is in onboard with all this Disney magic stuff!
We checked out and headed for the long, long, long, loooooooooong drive back to the POP.
On the way back I told James, that by the time we get back to the POP all of our luggage and the fridge should be in the room. I will just hook up the fridge, throw the stuff in it, and we will just head of to Magic Kingdom.
A half hour or SO later we arrived back at the POP, went to our room and WHEW! Yup everything was delivered. As I promised, I plugged in the fridge and threw all the food in the fridge. ..and we are outta there!
Now its time to PARTY! Off to the Happiest Place on Earth, The Magic Kingdom. It was an EMH that night. We went to the POP Bus stop and luckily waited no more than 2 minutes for the MK bus. Once we arrived at the gate, we went passed security, I didnt bring anything with me that night. Just our room keys/tickets(
so no pics). When we got to the ticket machine to insert our cards in, and noticed they have the new finger scanners there.
YES! You only need the one finger to scan, SO much easier than the two finger method. We walked in, under the train station, where James had to stop and get two maps, one for me, and one for him. Hey they are FREE, according to James.
SIDENOTE: James picks up ANY Free maps, catalogues, brochures, ANYTHING and collects them in the back of everyones car. There really is NO point in trying to talk him out of it! Literally I have thrown out garbage bags filled with all these FREE useless pamphlets! He is any organized religious pamphlet giver outers dream!
Then YIPPIE we there on Main Street!
Normally on our first night we go straight to Buzz Lightyear. However since they just reopened POC

, and since we had just seen POC2 a week before, we headed right to the newly refurbished POC. We walked right up Main Street. I love Main Street, all the hustle and bustle, and all with background music. Wouldnt real life be nice if sweet background music always played?
I also saw CMs jumping rope
with the guests. I never saw that before. NO! I didnt join in, DisUnc dont Jump
. And then there was the Castle, a site for sore eyes! I really like all the golden character charms on the Castle. I hope they keep them after the 50th Celebration is over.
SIDENOTE: Last year we had Lunch with an Imagineer. He said that the response to the golden charms on the Castle was overwhelming favorable. However they werent designed to last a long time. They were looking at ways to try to keep them up! Fingers crossed everyone!
At the end of MS we made a left and headed towards POC. For some reason, with all the times I have been there, I am always surprised that POC is never quite where I think it is! Truly, I always get lost looking for this one attraction. We consult our free maps, OHHHHHHHHHH there it is!!! Alas, we find the always moving POC attraction. We go in, take the left line, as all good Disers do. I tried to note what is different, what changes were made to the queue area. But I cant figure it out
. It looks the same to me. Then we board the boat and go on our merry way. Yo Ho! Yo Ho! A Pirates Life for Us.
As the boat enters the tunnel, there is noticeably a BIG NEW feature (no spoilers here), and it is VERY COOL! Throughout the ride I notice a few changes, but nothing considerably (THANK YOU Imagineers). Of course Jack Sparrow is there, and a very good animatronics Jack Sparrow who looks precisely like, well
Jack Sparrow.
This has always been one of my WDW favorites, and STILL is. For some reason it just seemed a little shorter of a ride for me. But that is me, or is it? During the busy times at WDW, I do believe they speed up certain rides; this may be one of them.
Anyhow, once we get off the ride and go into the gift shop James starts looking around, in that rather odd crazed way as if he MUST buy something NOW Crazed maniacal stare
. The same I had when I first discovered
. No time for this tonight, we have ride to rides!, where I grabbed him and pulled him out of that money pit!
SIDENOTE: This year I thought I try something new. No sporadic souvenir shopping. We will purchase everything in one fell swoop and have it shipped home. We will do all our shopping at the DTD World of Disney store, because when you book your trip with AAA you get a 10% discount on EVERYTHING there!
Then James said lets go back on POC. OK! Sounds like a plan. And again we rode it. And again getting off the ride, James stood hopeless in the middle of the Pirate money pit. I had to drag him
out again.
We walked over to Aladdin Magic Carpets, and there was no line, we rode that. Unfortunately we had two silly girls sitting in the front of our carpet. They controlled the Up/Down movement, so we didnt go Up at all. Silly Girls!
From there we walked over to Tomorrow Land and went on Buzz Lightyear, where we both scored miserably.
Sorry Buzz! We must return and practice, so that we too can defeat the Evil Zurg! We then stopped for the obligatory Mickey Ice cream bar

from the cart.
Then onto my personal favorite spot in Disney, the Tomorrow Land Transportation Authority. I love

this ride. I want one in my backyard. There is no better place on WDW to sit for 15 minutes, relax, get a good breeze, and enjoy the surrounding park. For those of you who have never been on the TTA, this ride really gets around! It is not some short little ride that goes in one loop. It goes in and around various attractions in Tomorrow Land, while an announcer talks to you ('Paging Mr. Tom Morrow'), from above. It is also a great way to put your feet up & relax too. However my favorite spot in all of WDW is when the TTA car takes you to see Walts Disneys City of Tomorrow Diorama. This is Walts vision of what the future city will look like. This model is about 15 to 20 feet wide and about 8 feet deep; it has Skyscrapers, regular houses, Highways, parks, a Ferris wheel, Churches, etc. I love this!
SIDENOTE: Remember the Twilight Zone episode where the crazy man, played by Robert Duvall sees the people in the dollhouse, and eventually he winds up in it? Just like that crazy guy, I want to go live in Walts Vision of the City of Tomorrow!
I then decide do anything we pass that has little or no wait, only! Total agreement from James! He really is so easy to travel with!
We went to Mickeys Philharmagic, Hey! Ive been on Flonase for about a month now, WOW there are a lot of smells happening in this attraction. Thanks Dr. M
but what took you so long to get me on this? IASW, not a James favorite

, in fact last year he fell asleep on it! But to me every time I am on it, it is 1964 and I am seeing it at the NYC Worlds Fair for the first time. Really! How can you not like being on the Happiest Cruise that Ever Sailed in the Happiest Place on Earth? It just makes you so flippen HAPPY!
We also watched Spectromagic Parade with, as James calls them, the creepy light up clown faces. And of course Wishes!
It is now Midnight, and it has been a looooooooooooooong day. I decided to call it a night, and get no argument from James. We take the bus back to the POP, and on the ride back James says he wants to go in the pool. OK!
Once back at the POP on an adrenalin RUSH, I dig out the suits, we get changed. Walk outside to the pool spend about ½ there.
Then back to the room, he takes a shower, I unpack. Then I take a shower. Set the clock and set the phone for a wakeup call @ 6:00am. It is now 1:30am.
I collapse!
