Anxiously awaiting Free Dining.
I have a week booked at POP but have decided to do a split stay between Cabana Bay and Disney
I'm hoping to be able to maybe upgrade if/when free dining hits
I liked the idea of a refurbished room- so I picked POP
unsure if the construction at Coronado will be annoying
Is Beach Club worth the extra Money

I am going with my Husband and 11 yr old son

We are not fancy shmancy type of a family but, we also like a nice pool for DS

Help me decide the best way to spend my $$

I would say BC for the pool. If not, don't worry about the construction at CSR and upgrade to a preferred room there if you are fine with saving a few bucks...put that towards a nice dinner or something.

If you can swing it, Stormalong Bay at the Beach Club is wonderful! Will you be at the resort enough to take advantage of it?

You'll find that Cabana Bay is more on par with Pop or Coronado Springs, so if the Disney leg of your trip is first staying at Beach Club, you may end up disappointed when you have to move to Cabana Bay.

If you're able to take advantage of free dining, that means you will be paying rack rate for your room which is quite pricey at Beach Club. I personally don't think it's worth the money over Coronado. I do think it is worth the upgrade to switch from Pop to Coronado. If you book a preferred room at Coronado, you will be across the lake from the bulk of the construction and you will be guaranteed a newly refurbished room. Check out the Dis Unplugged's recent 7 in 7 resort video series on YouTube. They cover Coronado and specifically talk about how the construction isn't super intrusive.

If you can afford Beach Club w/out any reservations or regrets, then I would choose Beach Club over the other two 1000%.

If you can't afford it, or just don't want to spend Beach Club money, do Coronado.

Have fun! :)

what lame question. It was like saying....would you like $1, $10, or $100.

the 3 resorts are no where near related to each other in price, amenities, or location.

:duck:

I like your question OP. Lots of people have different tastes and may not know a whole lot about other resorts like the Disney "experts" on this board do.

Beach Club is our favorite...proximity to Epcot, the pool, and just the atmosphere can't be beat...If it's within your budget, definitely go with BC!

Beach Club if you're plannning on a lot of resort time (to swim in stormalong bay) and plan to go into Epcot (we love the proximity to Epcot restaurants). If you are planning on a lot of park time, I'd pick POPl It's got a great Disney vibe and is a ton of fun. I feel like I'm in the Disney bubble at both BC and POP.

If you can get a standard room at BC with FD, you're still going to be paying roughly $300 more per night to upgrade to the BC from Pop considering rack rate prices, and that is factoring in the money you'll need to pay to upgrade to TS at Pop. Is an extra $300 per night worth it? No. Not to me.

since I have not stayed at any of the three I was just looking for some insight- I don't mind spending money if its worth it-
my only Disney hotel experience as an adult is carribean beach

thank you- I definitely want that Disney vibe around me !

I don’t agree with the comment that Cabana Bay is online with Pop. Cabana Bay is light years above Pop. 260sq Ft vs 300 sq ft at Cabana Bay. And Cabana Bay has inside halls so you can actually have drapes open with no body walking by looking in your windows, and nice amenities. Pools with slides, beach, lazy river, bowling alley....,

I’d stay away from Coronado, with construction.

My pick would be Beach or Yacht Club. But I’d take a room discount over “free” dining. Deluxe resorts are now the only ones who get the free full dining plan. But it’s not free, you’re paying rack rate. We haven’t got the dining plan in a long time. At deluxe it’s never a good deal for us. I did the Disney Math and for me plus 1 or 2 daughters it’s cheaper to get room discount.
At Pop or a moderate the dining plan you get is just quick service for free. I don’t think it’s much of a bargain..

You can take a look at the Menus, and calculate out how much you’d spend on food, and compare that with what your cost would be with paying rack rate with free dining vs room discount and food cost to see which works for your family.

I said Cabana Bay is more on par with Pop or Coronado... meaning its closer to those two resorts than it would be to Beach Club. IMO, Beach Club is far superior to Cabana Bay so my point was if they have to move from Beach Club to Cabana Bay, they may feel its a downgrade. To move to Cabana Bay from Pop or Coronado will feel like a lateral move or even an upgrade. I was thinking in terms of the transition, since they are doing a split stay.

Beach Club is our favorite resort, and Pop & CSR are our favorites of the values and mods. So if you can swing the money I would definitely say BC. Otherwise, I would go with Pop. I really love CSR but I want to wait until the construction is over to go back. I watched a video the other day and the construction is really taking away from the beautiful views.

Everyone has a differing opinion on the CSR construction so to me, that will be a personal tolerance question. While construction is always an eyesore, the majority of it happens during daytime hours and none of the facilities are closed as a result of it, so the intrusion is really minimal. In addition to that, a lot of the rooms are now brand new which is a benefit. We opted to stay at Coronado this October regardless of the construction. As I mentioned up thread, the Dis Unplugged recent video series at CSR was informative on this topic. They would not be afraid to hold back if they felt people should be deterred from staying there, and they gave it good reviews with no qualms about the construction intrusions.

I agree, BC is superior to Cabana Bay which was why I picked that too, coupled with imo a move to Pop after Cabana Bay would feel like a downgrade.
