Pop Century, What Building?

I am getting ready to book my disney vacation. We are going to stay at the pop century resort for the first time and since we are trying to keep costs low I really don't want to pay extra for a preferred room. So what are the best building to be in that are not preferred? As far as walking distance to bus and pool? Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are disney pros, but have only stayed on property once before...this is sorta our 2nd honeymoon, the kids are staying home!

We stayed in the 50's section bldg #3, and it was about a 1 1/2 minute walk to the food court, laundry, and 2 pools. We requested a corner room, close to the food court, in the 50's section, checked in late on a Fri. eve, and got all of our requests. Hope you have the same luck.

2 of the 50's bldgs, and some of the 70's section, are all close. We picked the 50's because of the bowling pin pool. Often it was like having the pool to ourselves. Great location- IMO.

We stayed in the 70's Big Wheel building. I really liked the location. It was close to the foodcourt/buses and main pool. I just booked POP again and requested the same building.

We just got back we stayed in the 50's don't remember which building but we in room 1204 on the second floor. This was the best room it faced the pool and took seconds to get to the food court.

We did the "preferred" bldg 60's and I would not recommend spending the extra $ for it. Many of the rooms in the 50's and 70's were closer to the food court and parking lots.

I was there in May and was in Building 1 in the 50's section (Lady's building). It was a corner room on the third floor right next to the bowling pin stairwell and only a couple minutes from the main building. Due to most people with kids having strollers they walked on down and used the elevators, so I never heard anyone walking past my door (and I am a very light sleeper). I could stand on the walkway right outside my door and see both the bowling pin pool in the 50's and the Hippy Dippy pool in the 70's, but was just far enough away that I never heard any pool noise. It was wonderful. In fact, I'm going back in Sept and requested the same area.

I would request a corner room, top floor of either the 50's or 70's, as close as possible to the main building. Remember though that the 70's does not have its' own pool and you would need to go to one of the other sections to swim. In the 50's building you would have the bowling pin pool, but in the 70's you'd be closer to the buses.

Hi everyone I will be going to pop century next week July 1-4 we already have the hotel & our tickets paid off. Were a family of four my husband my 2 children 6 & 2 & myself.I was wondering how much spending money do you guys think we should take for food,souvenirs, etc. I was thinking $700.00 is that to much or to little please help.

Enjoyed our stay in the 50's building also We were very close to the main building. We also didn't mind facing the landscaping/parking area. POP was a great resort. Have lots of fun

We also stayed in the 50's, Building 1, 4th floor facing the pool and found it an excellent location. It's close to both bowling pin pool and main pool and minutes from the food court and buses. As others have pointed out, in the case of Pop, some of the non-preferred locations are actually CLOSER than the preferred so I definitely wouldn't pay the extra for it!

I wouldn't take that much in CASH. You can charge all of your meals and most snacks and souveniers to your room (as long as you have a credit card imprint on file or have left the cash to back it up). $700 sounds like it would be just about right, but you might want to have a "cushion" of another $200 - $300. Money evaporates at WDW.

We haved stayed in the 50's building (1) both times we have stayed there. First time was the 3dr floor, this last time 4th floor corner room. Very close to the pool, dining, gift shop, & buses. We are staying at PC again for our Oct. trip & my boys want to stay in the 70's this time. Hopefully I can get in the Bigwheel section. It looks pretty close to everything as well.

Our dilemma is that we decided to switch resorts and all that is left at POP are preferred rooms so we had to! So any good suggestions for where in the preferred rooms? We are thinking the Play Doh building top floor facing pool? (we dont mind noise)

We just got back yesterday from POP and stayed in 50's section, second floor, room 2205, facing the pool. It was a great location and I highly recommend it.

I must tell you that the pool is NOISY and open until 12:00am, and yes they're people in there until then.

It's not preferred, but I stayed in the 80's building facing away from the pool. I had a great trip!
