I just asked at the food court why an entire station has been closed down all week. They said it was because occupancy is low.

That must be fairly recent....the tie dye cheesecake was still in slices in early July

I don't have a picture, but I was at Pop last week and I can confirm that the tie dye cheesecake is now in a little cup. No more slices.

... its okay for me though. I've never had the tie dye cheesecake. I'm actually scared of it... all that food colouring! :crazy2:

Thanks xnascar2x saved me a trip to the food court this evening. :thumbsup2

See how less appealing it is now? At least to me it is. All the dessert on property that are now in cups aren't great. Wish they would go back.

Ahhh . . . Not quite as appealing as a slice.

We were at POP last in April this year. And they looked to be refurbishing the kiddie pool area. Is that done? Did they do anything different to the area? Just wondering since we're going for 2 days next week with the kids.

Yes they are done. We were there in May and the kids played in it. Nothing different I believe it was just a re do of the flooring.

Me and my DD will be there for the weekend next weekend.

I am here at Pop now. Some of you remember me posting that a CM told me I wouldn't be able to request (or at least they couldn't honor it) the 70's section b/c they would be doing painting in the rooms, etc. Well, at check in today the girl had me assigned to a room in the 80's so I just asked if there was any way I could get a room in the 70's section. She checked and building 6 was closed but building 10 in 70's was open. I took that. So for those coming soon that would like the 70's, just ask and you might get lucky and get what you want.

Also, I was in the food court and asked a CM when the RFID mug refills were going live. She told me this coming Tuesday they would be.

We like it here & are enjoying ourselves. We walked down to the 60's hippy dippy pool or whatever it's called & swam a little.

As for the tie die cheesecake, I saw all the other desserts in that circular cup but did not see the cheesecake. Maybe they just ran out when I was there.

Edited: Forgot to add this: I went to pick up my park tickets at Guest Relations at DTD today and then when I got to Pop, the CM checking me in linked my tickets to my My Disney Experience account right from my phone. She didn't know if it went through 100% so she had me go over to concierge and a guy there made sure it was good to go, which it was. I at that point was able to assign 4 FP+ for MK and then 3 for the rest of the parks for my stay.

Checked in at 7:05 am. The room was ready and we got a king bed building one! Our magic bands were here with the colors we wanted. Cm at the food court put up a fuss about making my ddp mug length of stay with the ddp for a one night stay. I asked for a manger and explained I'd need it tomorrow snd he agreed and told the cm how to fix it lol. The machines aren't on yet. Maybe Sunday? Also our set up pin didn't work and cm said you'd have to open your door first before using for dining or merchandise. I asked what happens when the room isn't ready yet. They didn't have an answer. We were told to physically check out tomorrow before using the same bands at yacht club snd dining would still be on the room key. Our room is good and we got a boxed fan too!

True, you are going to a call center that isn't even on property if you are calling the general hotel #! Best to go to the desk if at all possible....

and there aren't any elevators at Old Key West either...they only have 2 floors.
did not know that about CBR.

and for future reference this is how the room number works...
it is a four digit number broken down the following way....
the first digit is your bldg number.... and if it is a 0 that is bldg 10
the second digit is the floor... so it will be a 1, 2, 3 or 4
the third and fourth digits will be your actual room number within the bldg... which will be 01 thru 72.

so for example if you had room 3150, you would be in bldg 3 in the fifties, on the first floor in room 50. HTH!

BTW, AoA's numbering works the same way except their room numbers may not go as high since they have suites instead of rooms. :goodvibes

This response might already be on here, but I'm just reading your post. DAAR floor numbers are 5 (1st), 6 (2nd), 7 (3rd), and 8 (4th).

Do they sell bread in the store? Like a loaf of bread, to make pb sandwiches in the room?

This is an FYI post: We are just back from a fun 10 day stay at Pop. We have stayed here for the last five years. Here are a few of our observations...

1. New cups are on the way. We saw them being stocked and sold. Get ready people. No more free soda ;)

2.New refrigerators are still not in. We had to ask for reimbursment. It would not have been given without us asking. Our CM was nice about the credit. Our friends CM was nasty. Treated her like she was trying to scam the system? And just to be clear, our friend is as far away from confrontational as a person can be. Bad day for CM... maybe? But it felt underhanded and greedy.

3.Slooooow service in the food court. Wow, so slow. The food was fine. But the wait for a simple sandwich...oh my!

4.Not as many smiles on CM, especially food court, and maintenance staff. Not sure what was going on but half of them would not even say "hi" when greeted? I would have taken a smile and or a head nod over the blank, occationally hostile, glare. Heck, a few times I would have even taken eye contact!
Don't misunderstand....We had excellent service from some CM, but others were obviously not happy with their job. DH said the vibe in the food court felt like a mall food court, and it kind of did.

5. While I am on the food court...It was pretty messy. DH and I used to joke that we could not even get to the soda machines without having to wait for a CM stop cleaning. Not this time. Soda, food and wrappers were every where. Ice machine out of ice for hours. I think they must have cut back on staff. Multiple times, we only saw one or two people for the whole food court. I'm not sure if there is new management, stress or what, but there are issues going on there.

6. Room was in great shape, very clean. All week we had great service.

7. Overall, all CM are anxious about the FP+. We were asked many times (all over the parks and other resorts) how we were liking it in a way that suggested they were not getting great feed back. They cringed when they asked. The concierge was visually relieved when we did not cause a fuss over a problem with our FP reservations. The CM next to me was being read the riot act " I have been to Walt Disney World over 25 times and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had....". Stressful times for them. Unless you are a standard family, travelling alone, with no extras this system has lots of bugs.

8. Yikes! After all that complaining :scared: we did have a great time and will be staying here again. We love POP! The resort is beautiful! Transportation was great. Being close to Art of Animation was great. Pools were great. We had a box fan brought up. Our bands worked great for tickets, charges and as room key. Lots of good things! I just wanted to point out a few causes for discussions that we had. There is just a different tone to the place...

Oh FYI for those of you bridging your UT tickets that has to be done at customer service or at the parks. The resort consierge could not deal with the price difference of Disney and UT tickets. Also we could not use our bands at costomer service at DTD they had to call to back to the resort for room charge. Not a big deal but someone may want to know that. :)

Glad to read that someone enjoys POP too! I understand that they changed the food menu. I will be there in 15days and expect some changes. But I usually don't eat in the food court there. I usually have reservations everywhere else. Only grab breakfast off and on. We can all only hope that they are taking notice that people aren't happy about the changes to the food. I know I did enjoy Mom's night out menu. It was good.

All in all, I am hoping we get the 70's again. We have requested a king size bed every time but never got one. No biggie. I just like to be close to the buses and main building. I am also looking forward to using the new MB. I already have ours ready to be packed up. I cant wait.

Checking into POP in 21 days and I have a couple questions. This will be my first time at this resort.

What time do the drink stations in the food court close?
What time does the pool close? Can I go for a swim at midnight when I get back from the parks?

How is the air conditioning? Is the room cool when you come back after being away all day?

I am confused about people saying that they had boxed fans brought up? :confused3

Thanks for any feedback! :thanks:

Drink stations usually close around the time the final food stations close (around midnight?)

Pool doesn't close, per se. Lifeguards aren't on duty "after hours" but you can swim any time you want.

AC was good. I don't remember if we had any issues with it being hot when we got back, but I don't recall ever thinking "it's not cool enough."

The box fans are probably to help mask out noise to sleep better.

I have been using a fan for years in the room. It really helps me sleep. I am planning on asking for one when we are there. Should mask out the neighbors a bit and those running up and down the halls.

Yay! I love night swimming!
Thank you!

Oh Ok, thanks!
I was worried that people were using them because it was hot.

Ok,so we are headed to WDW in 33 days! And we are going to POP for the first time. And I have a few questions...
1. we are a group of 7, 5 adults, 2 kids, 1 six year old and one 16 month old, in 2 rooms, how hard is it to get adjoining rooms? Would like to be able to have kids and Grandpa be able to go to sleep when they want/early and be able to watch tv in the other room.
! :) <3

I too would suggest conecting, not adjoining rooms.. HOWEVER!!! we found out the hard way.. do NOT use the door bolts locks on one room, then enter the connecting room and leave through it. there will be no way to get into that other room. unless you leave that connecting dooor TOTALLY open. we had to wait an hour for someone to come to unlock the dead bolt on out son's familys room.

I just asked at the food court why an entire station has been closed down all week. They said it was because occupancy is low.

that is just plain WRONG!!! you are paying the price to stay at the resort with ALL the ammenites. it is not YOUR fault their is "low occupancy".. all the stations (and choices) should be available.
I know when I choose which resort to stay at, I DO look at the menus for the food courts, and I expect them to be open.

the point isn't the supposed "health hazards" of the food coloring.. the point is that many people (apparently "risked their lives!!!!) by enjoying the tie dye cheesecake. why change it???
(confession.. I myself didnt' care for it.. I'm a purist when it comes to cheesecake. plain.. that's it. no choc, chips, no strawberries eli's the best!) HOWEVER!!!! many loved it! it was a schtick!
WHO THE HECK IS IN CHARGE OF THIS LOUSY FOOD COURT ANYWAY??!!!
whew.. glad I got THAT off may chest.... tee hee.

Just completed our online check in! 60 days to go! Waiting for my friend to get home so we can pick our FP+, our MagicBands have been ordered! It's all so real now, I'm so excited! My first stay at Pop and her first time to the World in 20 years!! :cool1:  :cheer2:

Enjoy! Have a great trip! I had a great experience with my MB! And I love POP and Blanca, one of the mousekeepers in the 60s. She even left us cute towel animals for our toothbrushes! She is so awesome and kept our room spotless and well stocked.
