i thought buttons for special events were only at town hall in mk? we have a bday and a 1st visit, we can get these at checkin?

You can get them at check in regardless of whether they are on your reservation....All you have to do is ask!! :)
You can also get them at conceirge and they hand them out at the cash registers at the POP gift shop!!! There is one woman in the gift shop who does a beautiful job writing names on the buttons and then she even covers the name part with clear packing tape (very neatly!) So that if it gets wet it won't mess it up!! Her buttons have always been the best IMO!!!! :)

Yes, we got first timer buttons for our kids at the check-in desk at our resort last time. But that's a great tip about the pop gift shop! Sounds awesome! :)

My DME info came in Saturday. Even though we had to fix a mistake in the paperwork, (My friend who is coming is the one taking DME, while I am taking the train) the CM on the phone was really helpful and the new info is already being mailed again.

29 days to go, the hardest part of the wait. :woohoo:

Hey everyone!! Only 10 more days until we are at POP!! Can anyone tell me if they sale the photo autograph books at the Pop gift shop? They have them on Amazon for 18.00 I was not sure if I should grab 2 off there or if I could just buy them at Pop thanks everyone!!'

We'll be there in 10 days as well! And yes they do sell cute ones in the gift shop at the resort. My advice - buy retractable big sharpie markers before you go. One, they are easier for characters who have hands stuck in big costumes to sign with, and two, no cap to fiddle with. They fit right in the pen holder on the autograph book still. The characters will thank you - the smaller pens are hard for them to hold. :)

I've been watching availability for Pop during our dates (Oct 19-25). Last week, there were rooms available at ALL room categories (rack rate, not FD rooms). Today, there's NOTHING available. I even tried availability for 1 of those nights (Sunday) and still nothing. I was hoping the resort wouldn't be packed but if there truly are no rooms available, it's going to be nuts, right?

We'll be there the same time too!!:goodvibes
Thanks for the sharpie advice!!:thumbsup2

I just tried and there are rooms in all 4 categories available the entire week you are there, at rack rate. :thumbsup2

In my personal experience in the past, NO. From what I "heard" is they set aside an X amount of rooms under their promotional offers (not sure how true that is.) So, once the promotional rooms fill, they reserve the rest under their normal rates. The thing you can keep in mind is although their rooms have filled, you can call different travel agents to see if they have any left. I had to do this one time in the past, disney website was booked solid for fd. I called my travel agent & they had it, I was also concerned about it being crowded but it was not bad at all!! That's when I dug around online & read about how they set aside so many rooms for their promotions! Good Luck!!:thumbsup2

:scared1: We're going to be there too, hope it's not going to be that crazy! Hopefully it's just a website glitch. I'm wondering if it's because I see a lot of people switching to Pop so they can do the magic bands and FP+...:confused3

Look at my post just a few above yours, it was definitely a glitch as I was just able to find rooms available in all categories for that entire week.

From what I've read, a lot of people made a one night "ghost" ressie to get the bands, so that may alter the availability :sad2: even though they won't be actually staying there so maybe it won't have such an impact on the resort crowd....:confused3

That's very strange because I just tried again (after reading a few posts here) and it's still showing no availability for my dates. :confused3

A friend who lives in FL was going to meet us for a day or 2 at Disney and stay offsite. I was hoping to convince them to just book a room at Pop, but it's still showing no availability during our dates. So weird!

Hi everyone, just need some advice on choosing a Pop Century room from those who have been there!

This is our first trip and we are a family of 8 (2 adults and 6 kids between the ages of 1 to 15). We have booked 2 connecting preferred rooms for now but I am wondering if I should change it to standard since the general consensus is that it's not worth paying the extra fee for a preferred room since even the standard rooms are close to the main hall, pools, etc.

So for a family with 2 adults and 6 kids and a husband that has a slight mobility issue, is the preferred worth it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I would drop the preferred rate and book standard. I have stayed several times in building 9 in the wing that extends toward the bus stops. These rooms are just as close, maybe even closer than many of the preferred rooms.

Ask to be placed in any of the rooms from 9125 to 9136. I have stayed in them several times and they are my favorite location in the resort. You just walk past a few rows in the handicap parking area and you are at the bus stops. Its also a quick walk inside the front of the main building.

We are back. I will say that 17 days flew by. We didn't book pop for next year. We had a few issues and those really would be peanuts. But when part of the food court is closed and you are on the QSDP just really sent my dh nuts. The other issue was the new options just weren't that good. The medetrieanean flat bread isn't the same as it use to be either. The turkey sandwhich was just gross. The one night were the moms night out meals area was open. I was able to get pot roast and that was very good.

We are booked at POR next year with the regular dining. PLus we were just over the Qs options this year. I actually had the best Qs at HS and WPE. My girls tried the nachos and those were gross as well.
