Pop Century Stay: The Good and Bad

This thread is pure entertainment! :lmao: popcorn::

It is so funny to watch how little it takes for someone to get their undies in a wad!

If you smoke/drink/have a GED/are a drop out, or WHATEVER, be proud! Do you honestly care what someone else's opinion of you is?

Laugh at their ignorance and keep moving! Do you realize how many families get stuck saying at the HOJO because they can't afford the POP? I am sure they would give their right arm to be able to stay at the drunken, smoker party place!

I  the POP. Not because it is the nicest hotel ever, but because DH and I can stay there for 9 nights with free dining and park hoppers for around $1300. We stayed at the WL for 6 nights and payed $1200 for the room alone. It doesn't take a GED to figure out why we stay at a value.

Very well said!! And I second that last sentence.

I agree! We stayed at POR last time for $600 more. I'm going to stay at POP this time and take that $600 and put it towards our next vacation!

On another note, who needs a fridge at POP?

Wow....I didn't mean to offend anyone with this post. I was just trying to be honest about how I felt about POP. There were things I enjoyed and didn't enjoy. I did not like the smokers walking the walkways because they exposed my little one to secondhand smoke. I did see excessive drinking and I did not like that because I don't like my little one to be around it. That being said....people have the right to smoke in designated areas.[./quote]However, if people aren’t aware that there ARE designated smoking areas, and that smoking is restricted to those areas, they will smoke anywhere outside they choose. Since Disney’s policy is apparently to not have CMs get involved unless other Guests complain, take two steps:
Immediate: Bring it to the attention of a CM
Long-term: Write to Disney and ask/request/suggest/demand that they actively enforce the outdoor smoking policy.

Just as you are likely to see more smoking/drinking at a Super 8 compared to Sheraton.
??????????????
Also....I did not sleep on the sheets. Slept on the blanket cover!
Ewwwww – gross!

I think it is fair to say that people with lower relative incomes tend to choose value resorts, while people with higher relative incomes tend to choose deluxe resorts. This only makes sense. Clearly, there are exceptions, and it is never okay to stereotype
I don’t. I don’t ever think it’s fair to stereotype (but thank you – that’s the word I’ve been trying to remember for DAYS, for another thread :teeth: )

Sounds like my next stay needs to be at the Pop!!! It must be a party every day, with all that smokin and drinkin going on.
That’d be great! Can your next stay be a week from Saturday?

From the American Heart Association
Studies show that smoking prevalence is higher among those who had earned a GED diploma (39.6 percent) and among those with 9-11 years of education (34.0 percent) compared with those with more than 16 years of education (8.0 percent). It's highest among persons living below the poverty level (29.1 percent).

Pretty obvious that the less educated you are .... the more likely you are to smoke.

And generally, the less educated one is the less money one makes.

I too find this to be very offensive. I do not smoke, do not drink, and dont consider myself to be rude. I also have a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. We chose to stay at a value for our son who is 2. I cant believe that people are categorizing others when they dont know the circumstances.

for just about 4000.00 we can stay at a wonderful deluxe!! we had a week long stay at the bc, which meant we could walk to 2 parks! we also had a much smaller resort so when we did take the bus we always got a seat! our stops at the parks are always in the front so we don't have a LONG walk back to the bus. we have a nice large room at the resort, plus...a pool (get this..) with a SLIDE, in fact its like a water park at sab. places to eat are great..a grab a go.... a nice sit down restaurant... or even signature dining if i want to walk over to yc or to bwi or even s/d. who wants to eat mall food on vacation anyway? i can go to a food court at home anytime. bedsides i hear the pizza at the food courts could choke a pig. it is so nice to relax by the lake on a sand beach!!!! the amenties are wonderful and i can't think of going on vacation just making do with a place to sleep and shower. i think it might take a college degree to figure it out why deluxes are so nice.

see we lovers of deluxes can grossly brag too...;)

I find this Smoking, drinking, poor people, GED thing to be offensive also. I drink, smoke, and stay at the values because I choose to. Not b/c I am poor, but because I don't feel the need to spend double or even triple the price to be in the room only to shower, change and sleep. Sorry, and if you don't like the smoking thing than you should be old enough to speak up to someone when it is going on in front of you, not just log on here and b***h about it, because you have nothing else to do. I'll be at POP Feb. 10-14. And after a long day at the parks I will also be at the poolside bar having a drink and even a smoke till someone says something to me...if there is a bar then drink, if theres an ashtray then smoke.

Just to let you know, when I was at Pop I had to tell someone it wasn't a smoking area way too many times. So much that I felt I was correcting children. There are smoking areas for a reason, and I think it is quit selfish to smoke at the pool around children and wait for someone to tell you to put it out when you already know your not supposed to smoke at the pool area or around the food court. I also got tired of seeing butts all over the walkway.

Kapoof....I have to say your post made me :lmao:

Don't get me wrong...I'm not a "hater". I'm glad you (and others) can afford to stay at the Deluxes.

Those stays help Disney afford to build more value resorts for me and the rest of my kinfolk to stay in. :rotfl2:

I don't know what is worse....that I exposed my kid to the excessive drinking/smoking out of designated areas or that I slept on top of that blanket! I must have been really jetlagged when I made that decision.
