I am going to be staying at the Pop Century for the first time in May. We have stayed at all the All-Star Resorts, Moderate Resorts, and Deluxes with the Port Orleans and Contemporary being my families favorite resorts.

We are going for a bonus trip in May and decided we wanted to save the cash and stay at the Pop, as we have never tried it before.
The reason we stopped going to the All-Stars was the groups and craziness, otherwise we were happy with the atmosphere and rooms for the price.

Does anyone have any tips of what I can expect at the Pop compared to the other resorts.. I have heard its nicer and quieter then the All-star, but just wanted to see you "professionals" opinions LOL..

Also, since this is a bonus we are trying to save as much money as possible, so we are going the quick service meal plan and we are not paying for a prefered room this time, does anyone have any non-prefered sections they recommend for any reason or maybe one that is close to a quiet pool or anything?

Thanks in advance for any info! :)

When I stayed at Pop, I was worried because I have only stayed at deluxe resorts before this. We stayed in the 90's building, which was rather far from everything, but I really didn't mind except when I wanted to get coffee it was a ten minute walk to everything pop. The resort did the job for us. It is clean, quiet and we liked it. The 'computer' pool was near our room so that was the only pool we visited, and it was busy but still enjoyable. It was far less busy and crowded than the main pool (from what I saw). I think that this resort will work for what you are looking for for your vacation. good luck! :)

Pop's layout is just a little bit like ASSports. If you find the Pop Century thread, it will let you know which building are the non prefered. I've been at Pop 4 times in the past 5yrs and have to say that I don't think the walk from any room is to bad.

I have to dissagree with the last poster, twice I've had a '90s room and really like those buildings.

The big difference between the AllStars' and Pop is that Pop's buildings are 4 stories VS 3 at AllStars'. But if you do online check-in you can request a ground floor room.

I was also use to Deluxe resorts although I've been trying out moderates lately thanks to the price increases! We went from WL to POP our last trip and I was terrified that I wouldn't like it at all. In fact, just the opposite. The rooms at POP actually felt cleaner and fresher. We stayed in the 70s building facing the lake, and it was a quick walk to the lobby, which we would cut through to get to the bus. The pool is across from the lobby, so it all worked out. We had a king room, but I don't believe it was preferred status. Did we miss a real lobby and a lobby bar? yes. But did we feel that POP gave a great bang for the buck? Absolutely! :thumbsup2

We've stayed in 80's and 90's and it takes much less than 10 minutes to walk to the food court!!!!

I just finished a POP trip and was in the 90's section near the computer pool. It was VERY quiet - I was really surprised. Next time I think I might request a lake view room for the ambiance but my room was nearer the buses so it paid off. I will say I have stayed at POR and thought the room quality at POP was really good - a lot of bang for your buck and I'd stay there again. I used the guest laundry - it was very convenient and not too pricey. I did have lunch at CSR one day and thought the Pepper Market was miles above the food court situation at POP - but then again it was more expensive at $16 for the lunch buffet (but it does count for a CS credit on the dining plan). Seems to me though that counter service food prices are high for what you get and next time I might do more table services restaurants. After the first two breakfasts I bought some bagels at the Boardwalk and saved a lot!!

Happy Planning!:surfweb:

I stayed at POP in February, and it was great for us. We were only 2 people, so it was a great size room for us. I had only stayed at deluxe resorts before, and you can notice the differences, but for the price i would recommend it. We stayed in the 50s section, and it was perfect! We were right in front of the hippy dippy pool, and very close to Everything Pop! The only complaint is there were LOTS of big groups, marching bands, family reunions, etc.

My family has stayed at Pop 2 times and we loved them both! We found the 50's to be most quiet, but we also stayed in the 70's and liked that too. Staff is nice and the food court is awesome! Pools are great fun!! In some parts of the 50's building, you can see the fireworks from Epcot. :woohoo: Hope you have fun!! :cool1:
