Pop Century Room Renovations

Are any king bed rooms renovated yet? Interested to see the configuration.

I had no problems with a dirty floor and had more toiletry replacements than I could have ever used during my stay. It was always late afternoon when housekeeping got to my room.
So strange the difference in housekeeping. We rarely got replacement supplies. On a 10 day stay. Mid stay I think we must have had a different housekeeper because for a couple of days we got supplies. After repeatedly having to go to front desk or phone you’d think something would be done. Ugh. I also spoke with manager.
I’m one that really likes to have housekeeping. I’m on vacation and not about to pack cleaning supplies and brooms to clean a hotel room. So this was really disappointing.

I’m with you. I’m not bringing anything to clean our room. If we aren’t given more supplies (which we will need for 4 people) and our room isn’t cleaned I’ll complain. That’s the only way they can know that something has to change.

I agree. I also call housekeeping when we leave in the morning (or early afternoon) to tell them we'd like service.

My kids have health issues, and the couple times I got VIP cleaning, it was wonderful! My oldest (this was years ago) had the first trip ever where he only needed his nebulizer once. Other time, my youngest stayed so healthy, and the housekeeper was amazing (at Pop). She left extra towels for us in the closet when she was going to be off. The room was spotless. Not happy that I have special needs kids, but have been grateful for the care we've been given when we ask at Disney (most trips I don't ask, but a couple times I knew we'd need it).

I might try calling in the morning like you said because we will be gone all day and I don’t want to deal with that when I get back to the hotel

Yes. King bed, with a regular table and chairs. I think the fridge/coffee maker is on the bed side of the room. Somewhere waaaaay back on this thread a pics but I lost the link.

Enjoy your vacation!

On the supplies topic, we opted out of housekeeping, called after our first night asking for bath towels, hand towels and coffee. Came back that night to a couple days worth of towels, and 8 coffee pods. We were good the rest of the trip. Put our dirty towels outside the room in a bag for pickup. Never needed toiletries replaced, so can't speak to that.

If you opt out, you are required to call the front desk to make the request. Housekeeper I asked wouldn't give me anything, told me I needed to call, then she would be notified and take care of it.

Thanks for these suggestions. I'm going to try this method when we arrive next month.

I tried calling to opt out of housekeeping for our recent 2-night stay. The CM at the call center told me I had to make this request in person at the front desk. I wasn't able to go to the front desk that first night as my DD was already sleeping so we stopped by in the morning. By then the front desk told me it was too late to opt out and still get a gift card (to clarify, they were happy to let me decline housekeeping but wouldn't give me a gift card for it). So if you are going to opt out, I would recommend going to the desk upon arrival (even if you've already done online check-in) to clarify you are opting out of housekeeping and would like the gift card. It seems waiting a day makes the gift card not possible (though possibly this was due to our stay of only 2 nights).

Interesting that the housekeeper wouldn't give you anything. I had some used towels I wanted to get rid of. I tried to give them to the housekeeper when the cart was near our room, but she didn't want to take them. I ended up bringing them to the poolside towel bin.

I think it was probably the fact that you were only staying 2 nights, since the offer doesn't include one of your nights, so that combined with the fact you didn't opt out on your arrival day (but the next day) most likely meant you weren't going to receive any reward. I bet if you were staying 3 nights, perhaps you would have received a $10 GC for opting out...

It seems disappointing that Disney is not maintaining their level of service at Pop. I have stayed many times and have an upcoming trip. Seems for 1200.00 I should get housekeeping services as well as the necessary towels, soap, etc. if I keep housekeeping, do they come daily and replenish towels, etc?? Guess I’m just remembering how it used to be.

When I was there in May I was replenished with towels and toiletries daily in addition to them making the bed, taking out the trash, etc. I hid the toiletries though since I collect them and bring my own to use so they would automatically leave me a new set.

That’s what I did with the orange Mickey head shampoo. I’m sad they switched it to the sea breeze kind.

I did as well. I like the size of the new bottles since they are like 3oz bottles compared to the 1oz on the Mickey head bottles and the values now have shampoo and conditioner compared to a combo bottle. On my trip last Nov/Dec I was there for eight nights and 2 of the days housekeeping left me a bag full of the toiletries since I think they caught on that I was collecting them.

Thanks for the replies about housekeeping. I guess I’m worried about the renovations, I have a preferred pool room booked for Feb., the condition of the floors if I get a renovated room, with the comments about how dirty the floors are, and the daily services. I hope I’m pleasantly surprised.

Haha that’s pretty funny. We came home with a whole stash of the orange shampoo and the orange conditioner. They were in separate bottles though, not combined.

The values used to only have the combo bottle before they switched to the current product which is the same at the values and moderates and I think the deluxes. Only difference is that the values don’t have the bottle of body wash/gel.

Oh okay makes sense. Pop will be our first value so it’ll be a whole new experience for us.

Yes, they come daily to clean, refresh towels and trash. They kept my room clean enough, but restocking soaps, shampoo, and coffee supplies, cups, was another story.

I love the new shampoo & conditioner. Sea Marine. It’s the same stuff we got at GF. But GF had different Conditioner, collegian.
