Pop Century Room Renovations

Pop has coffeemakers now? awesome..... OT but do the Allstars have them?

So.... my Mom is going to stay here in late April...in the past, I would have recommended she ask for a high floor room in the 50's on the lake side ( I love it back there) but with reno's I want her to get a newer room, what should I tell her to ask for in the current situation? Not preferred, but similiar idea of placement? Thanks!

I'd request 70's lakeview, maybe 60's lakeview, though I'm not sure if building 4 in the 60's would be finished by April since they just started working on building 5 this month.

Have there been any reports of people not getting the room classification they booked due to rooms being out of inventory for renovation? Considering there are a very limited number of preferred pool view rooms I’m guessing they had to either plan for the timing of the rooms being renovated when taking reservations or people would be getting bumped to other room categories.

I’m trying to decide if I should keep my preferred pool view reservation for mid April or if I should try to switch to a preferred room (both to increase my chances for a renovated room and I’m worried I’ll end up in a room at the far end of the resort if the preferred pool view rooms are under construction and there is not one available). I know nobody knows the forecasted construction plan/schedule, but I’m curious if anyone has received messages regarding their rooms or arrived and not had their room category available? Thank you!

Building 5 preferred pool view should be ready by mid April. There's a good possibility that building 4 will be totally out of commission at that point, so half the rooms won't be available.

If you really want the preferred pool view as your first choice, I would stick with that. At least you'll know you'll get a newly refurbished room if you get one. Another thing.....if there happens to be none available when you get there, and you get downgraded, make sure they reimburse you for the difference in price since your room category is the most expensive at Pop.

Thank you for your insight. Being close to everything is very important to us so I think I’ll keep the reservation for now. I booked the room with the promotion that came out earlier this year so I don’t know if I’d get much of a reimbursement.

Our only other trip we stayed at a moderate because we wanted queen beds and chose French Quarter for the small size. This time I convinced my husband to try Pop because, at the time of booking, I thought the renovations (with queen beds) would be completed in May, the room classification would guarantee that we would be close to everything and we could stay for an extra three days with the same budget. I’m sure we’ll have a wonderful trip no matter what happens but I’m crossing my fingers this will work out for our family since it was my idea to try a new resort:)

Our favorite resort so far is POFQ and this February will be our first trip to pop! I honestly don’t care if I like pop it’s more about if my niece does or not.

I haven’t even thought about the category of room I booked not being available. I have a preferred pool booked for February. I hope I get what I reserved. Can’t do all do that walking. Is there anyway to find out if I will be downgraded before I arrive? Does doing online check in early help??? Why didn’t I just book AKL!! No worries there!! No availability now.

The difference between preferred pool view and preferred is about $6 per day +tax. It's probably not going to make or break you, but I don't know if they would automatically offer the refund if you did get downgraded. I would definitely ask though.

The difference between preferred pool view and standard is about $23 per day + tax. So a more significant difference.

You probably know this, but preferred pool view rooms are noisier than standard or preferred because they face the main pool where they play music and pool games all day and at night movies by the pool are happening. If that doesn't bother you, I'd say stick with what you've got.

We stayed at akl this year and didn’t even like it. I’m excited to try pop.

February is tricky in terms of availability because I would imagine they would be finishing up building 5, and starting building 4 at some point during that month. I would try not to worry though. There are many great locations in the 70's that are nice and close to the main building. Request the 70's if nothing is available in the 60's when you arrive.

My sister and her family have stayed at Beach Club, Pop and AKL and she said their kids favorite was Pop and, in their experience, Pop had the best bus service of the three.

This will be our first stay at Pop so I’m not sure what to expect. Last visit we came back for a mid day break where we would usually watch a movie and the kids (and sometimes the adults too) would fall asleep for an hour. Then we’d usually be back in the parks until the fireworks. We’re fine with some background noise but if we do end up getting moved we can consider the noise reduction a bonus:).

We do not have any physical reasons for needing to be close to the main building...just convenience for multiple trips to the bus stop most days and lots of iced tea refills. If we’re downgraded for all or a significant portion of our 10 days I trust Disney will make it right with us. We’ll have a wonderful time no matter where we end up, I’m just an obsessive planner:)

I totally get wanting to be close to the main building. That is always my main requirement. We love to be anywhere in the 60's. That way you're nice and close to the bridge to AofA.
