Pop Century Room Renovations

Could it be a closet? There is a similar shape in the upper right corner of the vanity/sink area. And look at one of the pics where you can see the edge of something next to the beverage center. I'm really hoping one or both of these is a place to hang up clothes.

My other big curiosity is the safe. Where is it and how big? I'm assuming it would be one of the newer coded (not key) safes.

I think Disney may have been going more for "spa" inspired, rather than sterile, or dorm room. Spa style is clean lines and little color. But it's a value room so that's about as "spa" as you're going to get, with splashes of Mickey. I like it. I love that there's no carpet.

Even if I didn't like it I will still stay at Pop because it's on Disney property. And the room decor doesn't matter to me. We sleep and shower there. My priority is "clean."

In order for the Innova bed to accommodate a queen mattress, the frame would probably be as big as a king bed. I don't think there's enough space for that with the end tables flanking the beds.

Well the diagram is listed as Queen Room... fingers crossed they are both queen.

I could be wrong. The footprint on the floorplan shows that when it is down it takes up more space than the queen (which would make since given the mechanics) and when you compare these pics to those over at AOA this appears taller (in relation to standard doorframe cutout, I'm looking at the bathroom for reference here and the door to the bedroom at AOA). The frame on the AOA for width of the full while it has some extra wide to accommodate the frame still appears fairly streamline.

I agree about the footprint. A full size is 54 inches wide and 75 inches long while queen size is 60 inches in width and 80 inches in length. So if the full mattress is shorter in length by 5 inches would it need a bigger footprint even if including the bed itself?

After reading posts and looking at pics/video of the old POP room, yeah, I'm afraid the square area by the beverage center is just the bump-out for the A/C.

The square in the vanity area almost has to be a closet, though, similar to the Coronado pics. Surely there has to be a clothes rod with hangers somewhere.

Anyone else want to speculate on where the safe is, or if there is still a full length mirror? Could the telescoping door to the tub/toilet be mirrored? Is the spot on the wall between the sink and "closet" a mirror or safe?

There's an arrow pointing to that spot with something definitely in or on that wall by the sink and "square" in corner. Safe? Seems too narrow for a mirror.

Could the sliding barn-style door have a mirror on it? Possibly on back/bathroom side?

Like DisneyMom93 said, no they do not all have adjoining rooms. While a certain % of the rooms do, I'd says relatively small percentage, under 25% (?) do.

I can definitely see why it would bother you, but for larger groups that need 2 or more rooms, connecting rooms are very important. We have 2 rooms for a party of 5, with 2 girls 10 or under, so connecting rooms are our top priority.

That's what I meant when I said they are useful if you are staying with the people in the connecting room. I definitely think they have their purpose, I just hope I don't get a room with one since I don't need it.

I sooooo want there to be 2 queen beds in these rooms and after looking at the room diagram on my laptop as opposed to my phone, I think there's at least a chance that it's a queen. Though I'm still keeping in mind that the Innovabed mattress won't be tight against the wall like the regular bed is. In the Innovabed, there is a good 5 or 6" or more of space between the mattress and the wall, plus the platform around the mattress will extend another inch or two. I really haven't seen any pictures of the renovated rooms that have a good perspective to compare the closed bed to a door frame. Because someone's always taking the picture from the window, the door on the bathroom is going to look shorter than the bed. I've seen pictures (including my own) of the suites where the bed looks taller than the door and times where it looks shorter. I will say it's driving me crazy and I don't even know why! Apparently I have nothing better to worry about today. I can't wait for someone to stay in a room and post a ton of pictures. Just for the record, things we need to know/see once someone actually gets in a room:

1. Size of Innovabed
2. Measure floor space with bed open to determine if there is enough space for a twin-size air mattress
3. Is there a full length mirror
4. What's behind the double doors on the dresser

I wonder if the floor boards in the photo are accurate. There are 11 for length of queen bed. 80" gives you just over 7 1/4 inches per board. I'd guess boards are 6-8" wide each. There are about 4-4 1/2 boards at foot of Murphy bed. That's 27-36" max past footprint of Murphy bed. Twin size mattress width is 39". So it wouldn't fit at foot of Murphy bed. Maybe between door and coffee bar? Looks like width of 39" might fit but not length of 74".

Of course if the floor in diagram isn't accurate then this post means nothing. LOL.

I'm not sure if I'm looking at the same "square" that you're referring to, but when I look at the square between the sink and the toilet area, I do think it could be a safe. I think it's showing a hinged door that opens. If there is a "closet" area on that other wall, it would be difficult to access the existing in wall safe that's in the current rooms. It would make sense (to me) to have more of a box shaped safe to be able to store more things (laptops and other electronics). The in-wall safes at Pop really weren't big enough to easily store a laptop, let alone a laptop and *other* stuff. I was trying to look at the slightly blurry construction "to do" list to see if there was an "install safe" item listed, but my eyes were going buggy and I had to stop looking at it.

Side note: They really should label things better on those diagrams so that when they get leaked to the general public, we don't have speculate about so many things.

I think that "hinged" item between the sink and toilet is the thing you see in the bathroom photo. Hand towel holder? Not sure. I don't think the safe will be in the vanity. The bathroom pics show open shelves in the vanity. Or are you referring to a different hinge/square?

I was referring to the item on the wall to the right of the sink. Next to the square (the one in corner that's about the same size as the sink) that looks like it could be a closet or linen tower.

Also, there's a reflection in the tv showing a hinged pull-out round mirror.

I feel stupid trying to analyze the photos, but I'm desperate for info. LOL

Yes, that space is where the door is for connecting rooms. Half of the rooms in the resort are connecting rooms. It's one of the reasons we used to stay at Pop before AoA opened -- it has the largest number of connecting rooms out of all of the Disney resorts. It would be nice if there was some sort of storage unit there, but I think a lot of guests potentially use that space (if they don't need/have connecting rooms) for a Pack & Play, a scooter, or a wheel chair. Or potentially hard-sided luggage that doesn't fit under the queen bed since the large open closet space in the bathroom is now gone.

And speaking of storage...I really don't understand why they didn't include more drawers in the dresser???? They could have made the dresser a little higher to have another drawer at least. Now I'm starting to wonder if that other half of the dresser with the double doors is where the safe is????

Ugh...I just want to see pictures of the entire room!!!!!! Obviously, patience is not one of my strong points (at least in this situation).
