Pop Century Room Renovations

Anyone else want to speculate on where the safe is, or if there is still a full length mirror? Could the telescoping door to the tub/toilet be mirrored? Is the spot on the wall between the sink and "closet" a mirror or safe?

I'm thinking there could be a mirror on the stationary part of the telescoping/pocket door. I was again trying to look through the construction list to see if I could find a line item about installing a full-length mirror but I'm getting a headache from looking at it. That would be another thing that would be great if someone who's there now could get a clear picture of that list -- at least until we get detailed interior pictures.

In the new rooms at CSR, there is a wardrobe in the sink area. In those rooms the safe is located in the side table between the beds. I was told by the room manager, both beds are queen.

Both beds at Pop are Queens? If so, you just made today's stalking of this thread worth it.

Wow! It seems like these are going to be "studio" versions of the family suites at AoA. I know it is rumored that the Value, Moderate, and Deluxe tiers are going away, but with all these enhancements, coupled with the gondola installations, I have to imagine Pop will be at a higher price range like the little mermaid rooms.

We love Pop....next trip planned for April 2018. I just don't know how to feel about this refurb! I neeeeeed to see the bathroom space! We have so many silly tips and tricks perfected to make it work in that space....now what? I'm going to have to think of all new ways???

Both beds at Pop are queens. At the end of April, my DH and I spoke at length, at least 20 minutes, with the room manager at Pop. We were by the 80's pool and I noticed the blue CM name tag. I usually chat it up with those CMs saying how special they are. Talked about how long they worked at Disney etc. Found out the CM was the room manager and started chatting it up about the renovation. We were told all kinds of things about the rooms and the order in which the buildings would be completed. Basically, 90, 80, 70, 60, 50 and building two last. After Pop is done, one of the All Stars will be up for refurbishment, the CM couldn't remember which one exactly.

Thanks!

So, quick question… What is the etiquette when you want to let someone know you appreciate their post/comment?

Is it enough to just "Like" the comment, or is it more polite to acknowledge it and say thank you? I just hate to bog down the post with copying and pasting and thanking.

I think you can do either. If you feel like you really are starting to clog the conversation down, then switch to just liking a post unless you want to add another comment to continue the convo.

And, I just walked by the 7 building and the rooms are in various stages of deconstruction. Some look normal but with the mattresses off the beds, some have the old furniture pulled away from the walls, and some are empty except old carpeting.

I thinking the renovation warning on the website had specific start and end times for renovations .....

and now it says "noise should not be heard from Guest rooms between dusk and 9:00 AM."

DUSK in Orlando is currently around 8:45 pm and will be approx that for next two months.

I know when we were there the renovations were loud, so something to consider if you have young ones that go to bed early, ask to be away from the construction noise.

That would be sad. IMO $140-$180 is ridiculous for a value resort room, they haven't changed the SqFt of the room, still a tiny room. It's ok for just me, or if I'm traveling with one daughter. I wouldn't want to stay with over 2 people.
I don't understand what it means, tiers going away :confused3 a value will still be a value resort, with tiny rooms, even dressed up. And no TS, hot tub or pool slide. Amenities will be the same.
I've heard this before about doing away with tiers, but no idea what that means. But I'm afraid it won't be good for us!!
WDW resort pricing is getting out of control. Sigh. There's always the Disney Springs resorts. That's where I'll be going when I can no longer justify WDW resort pricing. Or Universal!!

They would just be eliminating the names Value, Moderate and Deluxe. Changing to MK Area Resorts, Epcot Area Resorts, DHS area resorts, etc. It would only be a name change......for now.

It will probably be tied more to an all around location and amenities.

Say they build the gondola, they have to pay for it, so they raise the rates of the hotels it stops at. This would be a huge selling point of these resorts just like the monorail for the MK resorts. Someone even posted about maybe the gondola going to WWoS. Huge selling point for folks involved there, particularly since they use CBR often for those groups.

Look at POFQ, no TS but they still charge as much as and sometimes more than the other moderates. Totally don't get that but they sell it as a smaller more intimate resort. Smaller resort, less rooms, higher demand, sometimes higher prices.

This way no resort is tied in to a tier price range, they literally can price them individually based on timing of renovations, transportation options, location to parks and other amenities. So now they spent all this money on POP, they can raise the price and not be concerned with prices at AllStars. LM rooms at AoA are already higher and rarely discounted, because they have access to some great pools, way better than other values and decor wise compete with moderates.

They have always grouped them like that haven't they? But I guess formally doing away doing away with designations.

This! :thumbsup2

I have been trying to figure out how to put this, and you've done it perfectly.
