Pop Century Room Renovations

We were pretty much in the parks the whole time so it was nice to have such a short walk after getting back at night. We didn't stop at the food court on the way out so we went straight to the bus stop. It wasn't too far of a walk to the food court, but we definitely filled our mugs less because of the walk compared to when we were at POFQ and filled our mugs every night.
I hadn’t thought about at the end of the day. Might be nice to shave a few minutes off of that walk to the room. I didn’t find our room in building 6 to be a bad walk in 2015 but I had nothing really to compare to because we’d never stayed at pop before. We had mugs last time (free dining) and didn’t find we filled them very often so we aren’t bothering this trip (no dining plan) because they’re probably not worth the extra expense for us.

We did After Hours so we didn't get back to our hotel until around 12:30 am and that short walk was so nice. We did the dining plan because we ate in the castle and had some character meals. If it would have just been DH and I we wouldn't have done the dining plan. Overall, we really enjoyed Pop and I thought the new rooms were awesome!

I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed your trip! 20 more days and we’ll be there!

Is the walk from the 70's building to the buses shorter than the walk from the 60's? I've got a preferred room and requested 60's top floor but really wanting to be as close as possible to the buses.

It kind of depends on where you are in the 70's. We got lucky enough that we were right next to the stairwell leading out to the parking lot, but there are other rooms in the 70's that would be a long walk to the bus stop. I would keep your preferred room in the 60s because I think you will be okay. You will most likely walk through the lobby to get to the bus stop and that isn't too far of a walk. Maybe just choose the section that you like the theming better.

Pretty close to the same walk, it really depends on where your room is. For a preferred room I think the 70's might be a bit closer. The map in post 2 should help you.

I just did our online check in for a late June preferred room. In the room request drop down it only let me choose 70's or 60's. It seems like they don't want any requests for the 50's. Not sure what you'd make of that, but there you go!

Totally different construction question, but with the sky cabin construction going on can you still cross the lake to get to AoA? Or is it a major pain now? We planned to eat there a couple of times.

Yes no problem walking across.

We just ate there and walked across the bridge to get there. It was nice having different options to choose from.

Hello all ! I am going to Pop for the first time next month. I really would love a refurbished room, I have a preferred view booked. What are the chances of them being done? Ive been reading that the 50s building is closed but are 70s or 60s completed? Also, I would like to have some things delivered to the room, such as water bottles to take to the parks. Is amazon prime now the best way to go? Thanks !!!
Just to be clear, you didn't book a preferred view. You booked a preferred location. There are 196 preferred location rooms definitely refurbished, all in buildings 6 and 10. Two hundred eighy eight still be renovated in buildings 4 and 5. Potentially 72 in Building 3. Building 1 has 144 preferred rooms that haven't been started.

I know the map says view, but really, they're not.

By the end of June I'd expect at least 2 out of the 3 50's buildings to be closed for refurbishment, so it makes sense that preferred 50's wouldn't be a choice for room requests during that time.

Views weren't really a concern for me honestly, I just booked what was available ! Just now hoping for a referb room, thanks for the room insight though!

Back from our stay at Pop, Feb 27-March 4. We then went on to Universal for a few nights :). We had room 463 in the 70's section. So top floor. I had requested a ground floor room, and I have to say...I MISSED having a ground floor room. We have a stroller, so it was a pain to haul it up the steps or walk around to the elevator.

We loved the renovated room. LOVED. SO many cubbies and places to store things. And I LOVED being able to put the bed up. It made the room seem so spacious. My husband knocked his leg twice on the bed when it was down, but I'm sure he deserved it. We had a shower-only room which was an issue with our special-needs kiddo, but we survived and it may have been a good thing to stretch him a little! Our barn door was a little iffy on the rails, but shut okay. And I agree that you couldn't hear any sounds from the bathroom if you had both doors shut.

We didn't have any security checks when we were in the rooms, so perhaps they came when we were at the parks. We also declined mousekeeping and the giftcard went to my email super fast. I snagged a few extra towels from a housekeeping cart the third day and that was perfect. The floors felt a bit grimy, so I tried to wear socks when in the room. I thought my husband would hate the floors but he never said a word about them.

Had such an amazing trip. I love POP. We stayed there last year, too, and would absolutely stay there again! We had the BEST luck with buses. We never waited...never. Disney magic!

I'm planning on staying for the first time at Pop this October.
Will all rooms be renovated by then? I do hope so, we really want to stay at a renovated room :hyper:
