Pop Century Room Renovations

I do agree that Mouse keeping is not as good as it used to be but room was clean and tidy every day ( coffee not stocked up not even one towel animal )

We stayed at POFQ two years ago and akl/por last year and never had any fun towel animals. They didn’t rearrange our stuffed animals or anything. I was a little upset because I’ve seen so many great pictures of this but I got over it pretty fast.

I haven’t seen a towe animal in years. I’m not even sure if they do it anymore. Seems Housekeeping doesn’t have time to thoroughly clean rooms let alone make animals and do those other fun extras

My aunt was a housekeeper at WDW for 14 years and recently retired. The towel animals were always meant for guests to take home if they wanted. Therefore, the towels the housekeepers use to make the animals are towels that are going to be taken out of "service" due to fraying, looking ragged etc. That's why they were not always left for guests because there had to be some that were going to be "retired". Not only did there need to be towels available to be made into animals, the housekeeper had to have the time to make them up. They were always meant to be something special, not expected. And as the guests started complaining that they are paying $$$ for the room or tipping $$$ and not getting towels animals every day, they have decided to stop the practice. Though there still are some housekeepers that enjoydoing it so much that they will still do it. But as a whole, they are not encouraged to any longer. So if you do get some, enjoy. But don't expect them.

That makes more sense. Thanks!

Staying one night at Pop during our upcoming stay before checking into WL with our family, and I am excited as Pop is a new resort for us! Called yesterday to request a renovated room in the 90s and the CM said by the time our stays rolls around (second week in Feb.) many more buildings should be completed. Probably not breaking news but just passing along as it seems plenty more renovated rooms will be available soon.

I would say based on historical info that the CM is partially correct. I can see the balance of building 6 and potentially a wing of building 5 being open but that’s all. Refurbishments are taking an average of 87 days and unless more rooms have been opened and closed than have been reported here, I can’t see much different than this.

If anyone is at Pop and can confirm how much of buildings 5 (60’s section) and 6 (70’s section) are opened/closed it would be greatly appreciated!

Is all of building 10 done? I swear I tried to look through the thread but I’m in the car on the way to the airport and it’s hard to look on my phone. I just got my room assignment so I’m trying to figure it out. Thanks!

Never mind, I think I found the answer in the first post!

Please look at post 2 on page 1 of this thread. It will always give the most current known status of the refurbishments.

I kept reading that 90s is the best to request so I (somewhat blindly) followed that recommendation...but with so many buildings completed or to be completed soon is there a better area/building to request? My newbie Pop status is showing...

I’m 57 days away. Do you think it’s safe for me to pick highest floor and 70s for my online check in?

Based on the history of time it has been taking to finish the buildings, I think you would be in good shape to request 70's b/c they should all be renovated by the time you get there. Was that your thought too?

we’re going just a couple of weeks before you.

My plan is to keep an eye on the renovations and make my request closer to our trip. If the 70’s is completed prior to our trip I plan on requesting either a room in the 70’s section or, building 9 of the 80’s section. 90’s is completed but it’s pretty far from the buses unless you walk through the parking lot.

Time will tell but that’s my current plan.

I’m hoping for a Lake view room in the 70s or a room in the 70s facing the foosball area. I think I’ll keep waiting a little longer and add 70s if they finish. Right now I just have highest floor. If they don’t finish the 70s I might switch to 80s or 90s.

Makes sense, luckily we won't be relying on busses much. Thanks for the insight and have a great trip!

Thanks so much! You too! My thoughts for you if you’ll be driving to the parks might be to request 90’s and 80’s. Hope you get a refurbished room!

I cancelled our September trip less than 24 hours before we were to fly to FL due to Irma arriving 2 days later. As hard as that was, it’s amazing to be looking forward to our trip now and the thoughts of getting away from these crazy cold temps!!

Is there a map of the property showing where all of the connecting rooms are located? I think I have seen this, but it was a long time ago now.

This is one I found online. Not sure if this is 100% accurate after the refurbishments. I don't believe the connecting rooms are changing. Not sure if the King rooms are the same or changing. I'd guess the same but you just never know.popcenturyroomlayoutlarge.jpg
