Add one more to the list who likes the abandoned creepiness look! ;)

Maybe they should run with this theming and make it a Haunted Mansion type theme. Leave it all concrete and gray, leave the cobwebs, just open it up! :rotfl:

Oh, give me a room too!!! I love creeping around old abandoned creepy looking houses, so count me in!!!!

Come to think of it, we could all have a nightly outing to River Country as well!!!

Sweet. We're going 05/4-05/14 @ POFQ. Where are you staying? We usually stay at Pop, but with the 4/3 we wanted to try POFQ.
I would have PMd you, but you don't accept them. We are staying at POP again! haha I was originally booked for Caribbean Beach, but decided I'd save myself the $300 and just do POP. We go about 3-4 times a year, so it's more about "just being there as cheaply as possible" for us.
We're planning a few other things in place of the extra $ we would have spent on a moderate.
1) Disney babysitting service for about 4-6 hours on at least one night so we can enjoy Disney without the kids for a little while
2) A nice "quiet" meal free of children (any suggestions of a restaurant where you CAN'T take children???) We considered Victoria & Alberts, but the dress code isn't my style. Besides, no way I'm wearing pants and suit coat in MAY in the hot FL sun!!! So we're thinking maybe Jiko or Flying Fish, or Spoodles... but that's another thread.

Count me in as a weirdo who would GLADLY pay for a haunted house stay. We actually considered that! We toured a million dollar historic abandoned building and were contemplating buying it and doing an extreme themed hotel. We had already planned a horror room complete with "bloody food". (just for fun of course... nothing that wouldn't be good to eat of course).
I have already promised my wife that if we ever win the lottery that the historic mansion with the separate slave quarters that we toured is ours!!!
I think it would be a lot of fun to operate.

I don't buy that. I'm not saying that you are lying, I just think the person who told you that doesn't know what they are talking about. Unless the person you spoke to was a certified mold technician (Yes, there is such a thing) I wouldn't take what they say as gold.
I repair homes all the time that were covered in mold. Mold dies when it's food source is removed. It can then be cleaned and sanitized, and the surfaces returned to a like new condition. It would be costly for sure, but certainly a LOT less than rebuilding.

I have to strongly agree here. I know several construction / remediation types and they have all said that unless the structure is compromised, it can easily be repaired. Especially because....

The interior of those concrete buildings are completely unfinished.. just bare concrete. That's it.

There is no reason on earth presuming the structure is sound.. you couldn't chemically clean, sandblast, clean some more.. and carry on with the building - if the structure hasn't been compromised in some deeper way.

Hmmm, odd. I have always accepted PM's and my profile is set to accept them. I wonder what may have happened.

Anyway, thanks for posting here. I do agree, the dress code for V&A is not my style either. I think it would be a little uncomfortable in that heat. Some days can hit 90. :scared:

It will definitely be wierd for us not staying at Pop this time, but hey change is good. :cloud9:

I just checked and you can now, but at the time it wasn't there. Probably just a glitch.:thumbsup2

Our family needs a quiet room and where is the location to get a quiet room at POP Century!

I didn't have a chance to go through all 23 pages but when i went in December of '07, my friend and I hopped the fence and explored the construction site at night (please no flaming..I know it's dumb to do but... whatever. we're nosey!)...here's the post of my trip report with some pics..

Does anyone know WHY there was a submarine in the back and what it was used for and why it's still there? haha

Thats awesome! Great pics :)

Oh I think the spaceship is from the Little Einsteins. It's a show on Playhouse Disney. :)

Ahhh...that would make some sense! I'll take your word for it since I haven't ever seen the Little Einsteins. We knew it wasn't anything to do with the 20k leagues, etc. I also saw the illicitohio website just now and noticed there was a lot more gravel/rocks/bags/etc around the sub since we've been there. Very cool!

(And yes...sign me up for a haunted stay! I might not be able to sleep but it'd be cool!)

WOW those pics look like they have "orbs" in them...now thats spooky!:scared:

That rocket doesn't really look like Rocket. It looks more like a piece that could have been off an old predecessor of Astro Orbiter. They may have wanted to use it for decoration of a retro-looking space rocket a la Buck Rogers...
