This thread convinced me to try Pop Century. I called yesterday and booked 2 rooms, preferred view, for 5 nights. It ran around $770 including tax. I hit mousesavers.com around 10am today and almost fell out of my seat. After a 24 minute rate I got someone from CRO and she "tried" to find the rate then said -- now at 35 mins on the line -- sorry, your AAA rate is the best you will find. I had to go to a meeting so couldn't push it.

Called back after lunch -- another 20 mins before answering and then about 10 more minutes for the system to find something but she did (very, very nice and helpful person this time) and we went with standard view at $612 including tax. They have me nervous about the walk we're going to have in a standard room vs. a perferred room but once I realized that would pay for one of our kid's (4 of them) 4 day hoppers -- I couldn't be convinced.

We cancelled our -- 2 bedroom at the Beach Club Villas for the same time and then I booked 5 nights on points at our home resort on Hilton Head. We weren't going to go there this year since we're doing this Feb WDW and 3 night Disney Cruise -- now we can do both. I don't know if I could have missed a week at HHI after spending a week there at our "home away from home" since 1997. Thanks for the feedback on Pop Century -- can't wait.

P.S. Tell me the walk won't be so bad.

I too will be at PC for the grand opening!!! We are booked for 12-14 thru 12-20. After reading all 23 pages of this post tonight, I am even more exicted about our trip!!! (and I didn't think that was possible!) I have been looking for the details of the PC for some time. I'm sorry I didn't find this board sooner, as it would have been nice to make new friends before our trip. I am also excited to read of all those who will be joining us on our visit (Tigger and Tink etc) I hope to run into you in our journey! If you see the girl with the leg brace pushing a wheelchair with her mother in it......that will be me. Stop and say Hi! I have been to WDW more times than I can count and have spent the last 5 years visiting in December. We usually stay at the All Stars, as it is the most affordable. I am looking forward to the change of scenery - and this resort sounds wonderful.

Tyler - You have done an incredible job giving us the info we crave!!! I just wanted to thank you!!! ::mickymo Hopefully - I will be meeting you in person. I will know you right away....you will be the one CM with his very own fan club!!!

Be sure to have Lime Green ribbons or clothing etc on you, or the wheel chair. That is the sign of a DIS board member so we can recognize one another in the parks/resorts.

I haven't checked in the DIS store. Are there official hats etc?

Trust me when I tell you the farthest room is *NOT* far. Maps are very misleading. Everything is very close to each other, so don't worry!

Okay... so today was my day off, but I spent it at the Pop Century Open Mouse, and then at the MVMCP. I'm still working on condensing all this info into one page, and creating a new FAQ thread. Just bear with me!

I managed to snap a few pictures before my decrepid old digital camera said no more. I also got a bunch of video, but that will take me a bit to edit and put together. I will have more pictures soon, hopefully...

Tyler the pix are great ...love to see what you could do with a"working " camera is those are "bad"! did not however see any "purple pants" in any of them...

3 questions... have you heard anything about this?...is there a certain building they are more inclined to put families without kids at or one you would recommend where it may be a little quieter? do they usually assign rooms according to that or should you request a certain area for that. the pop up fountain area looks very cute but I can picture swarms of little rug rats there!
and if so should we fax that request for Jan or can we request it when we arrive...?
