Pop century ~ generation gap bridge

Yup, to nowhere. It's like a little island or something. Pretty. Nice to walk out to once or twice. The whole walk along the lake and the bridge are a pretty and fun walk - we took pictures of all our birth year signs along the walk.

When we stayed there in November 2009 we walked to the end of the bridge and there is actually another section of POP across that bridge that was never finished.. I have pictures of it somewhere I will see if I can find them and post them here. We were told they had started that srction of the Resort and it was stopped after 9/11 because tourism was down.

With a big green wall now maybe they have decided to start working on it again???? We will be staying there again in January, I will make sure I go to the bridge again and try to get pics!!!

The Bridge was to connect the two planned Pop Century resorts.

Originally Pop Century was to be split into two resorts, the Classic Years (1950-1990) and across the lake the Legendary Years (1900-1940).

Construction was started in late 2000 on the Legendary Years but was halted in 2001 following 9/11 with a few of the building outer structures completed. The buildings across the lake have sat collecting dust and weeds ever since.

However, Disney is now working to complete the 2nd resort. The Legendary Years theme has been dropped. It will now be called the Art of Animation resort. Most of the rooms will be family suites similar to those found at All Stars.

I assume once this resort is completed the bridge will be opened up so one could walk between the two.

I took a slow walk all along Generation Gap Bridge during my stay at Pop in July and ,once again, was amazed at the quality of everthing Disney builds.:)

That is a NICE bridge!:)

One interesting note-it still has the Legendary Year's "decade numbers" on it in one section.:)

Those "numbers' will have to come down and I would think the Bridge will have to be renamed when Art of Animation opens.:)
