i want to put in a building request for pop century (for my daughter's trip there in september)..
does anyone have any suggestions as to which building i should request?

Hello, we actually paid a little extra for preferred - it was the only section left. However as it turned out it was the best location, straight opposite the hippy dippy pool and near the food court. Some people complained it was too noisy near the pool at night but we were so tired when our heads hit the pillow that we didn't hear a thing.
Wherever you stay, Pop is a great resort I think that it has the most "Disneyist" themeing of all.

we have stayed in the 90s section and found it near enough to the action

We stayed in the 80s-but facing the 90s and the computer pool. We were in the very last room of the hotel (might 45??) loved it. Right next to the pool but on top floor so quiet and a very quick short cut through the car park to the buses, food court etc

sounds like everyone's happy no matter where they are...:)

since they'll be using disney transportation (too young to rent a car and they don't want to drive in orlando), which is the building that's closet to the buses (that you don't have to pay more for)?

You need to see the link to the map on the Groovier New Pop Century (started by Buckeye Gal sp?) thread on the resorts section on the main page. You will find a great map with the locations of preferred rooms highlighted so you can work out which building you want to request your room in.

We stayed in the 80s building to and found it to be a great location, you do keep finding shortcuts to buses and food hall:thumbsup2

i'm thinking that maybe i won't request a specific building (so that i can't be blamed later)....it sounds from everyone's post here that everyone is happy with wherever they are...
but i will put in a request for a fridge (i forgot to do that when i made their reservation)...

We originally requested 50's when we made the booking as we wanted to be close to everything and were told 60's was all preferred. After lots of research i found out that the 60's block facing the lake are standard rooms so i wrote a letter (yes pen and paper not email) to the hotel direct and requsted 60's, facing lake, ground floor and interconnecting rooms. I'm very happy to say we got exactly that, the location was amazing, 1 min from hippy dippy pool and 2 mins from food court, although parking lot was about 5 mins away. It was also great being on the ground floor as i've got little ones so didnt need to worry about stairs, and they loved opening the door in the morning to see rabbits and ducks outside the room, although i know alot of people prefer the top floor.
We all loved Pop and i don't think you would be disappointed with any building.

that sounds really nice - maybe i'll request that location but the top floor (they're 23 - they can walk up steps)...

We always stay facing computer pool, were tere again for aug,we like the groung floor, and the noise from thepool might be the 10 of us:rotfl2:

We stayed in the 50's block at Pop, overlooking Hourglass lake. It was nice and quiet and we could see the fireworks from MK and Epcot from our balcony (3rd floor). We had read all about prefered blocks etc but decided to leave it and see what we were offered. When we got to Pop check-in they asked us where we would like to stay so we asked for a room looking over the lake :)

As other posters have said, I don't think you will be disappointed with any building at Pop, we really enjoyed our stay there.

looking at the map, it seems as if overlooking the lake would be a very nice location (in whatever building)..
so maybe i'll just say that - something overlooking the lake...
maybe i'll also say a top floor (so there's no noise above them - DD is a very light sleeper).

We requested and stayed in the 60s building B. Only one side of the building's rooms are preferred, those facing the Hippy Dippy Pool. So, as we hadn't paid for a preferred room, we were given one on the other side overlooking Hourglass Lake.
The location was really quiet, but it was about as close as you could get to the food-court/ buses without paying for a preferred room. We were on the first floor and had no noise disturbance from the path below.
The one thing I would say is that it was one of the farthest locations from a car park (which on the flip-side meant less noise).

that sounds like a good idea (requesting that building)..
and the car park isn't important as my daughter will be using disney trasportation only.

if not having a car,a room near the computer pool is good,as you can cut across the carpack for the buses,it closet area to bus stops
