Hey All
How are we doing?
Sorry its been so long, but you have been lovely and patient. Am going to try and finish up this report by the end of this month as am hoping to start the PTR next month
So where did we leave off....ah yes Day 11 and a very special day it was too.
Day 11 - Saturday 9th October
Today was someones birthday and lucky him he got to wake up on his birthday at the most happiest place on earth. Today was going to be full of surprises and I couldn't wait to get going.
We woke up not too early and I gave Dave his cards and presents. I'd got him his first pair of ears and birthday ones at that with his name stitched on the back. Our good friends Joe and Sophia had also gotten him a little something and a lovely gift it was, his first Disney watch.
Presents opened, selves dressed we headed out to breakfast at Kona. I have to say that we were on a strict time train everything I had planned was timed out perfectly (or so I thought). We had an ADR at Kona for 9:30am which would give us enough time to eat at a nice pace and then head over to where we needed to be for 11am.
We arrived at the podium before 9:30am and checked in, only problem was they couldn't find my reservation

Not a great start to the day I could tell you. So I quickly explained the situation and that I certainly did have a reservation as I had a reservation number. The CM was wonderful and sorted everything out and before we knew it we were seated at our table.
Here is Dave in his ears
Breakfast was yummy here, can't wait to eat there again this year. First up we have our drinks order, Lilikoi Juice and some Lattes.
Then it was time for food

I went for the ham and cheese omelette, whilst Dave went for the Eggs Benedict.
The omelette was soooooooo good, just the right amount of ham and cheese. So tasty. Dave wasn't as keen on his, I don't think he expected it to be what came out, bless him.
Breakfast done we headed back to the room, so I could secretly pack some bits as I said we were going for a nice walk (which we were). Bag packed we made our way out for our "walk". Past the quiet pool, around GCH, past the marina, then on past the Luau. It was a fair old walk and Dave was very good and asked no questions. On we kept walking, I said that we had to make a quick pitstop as my toenail polish had come "off" and I wanted to get it fixed at the spa.
In we went up to reception where I confirmed our reservation for 11am for the Grand Couples Massage. Dave went "but I don't have my swimming trunks!" No problem I said and whipped them out my bag. He was so surprised and a little speechless, so far so good. We went our separate ways to get changed, my CM told me that when it was time my masseur would come and get me. Hold up I had to wait in the ladies room til my massage time?!? I mean don't get me wrong it was nice, but when you're on your own not so much. So I said would it be ok to sit in the lobby area with Dave to wait, she looked at me oddly which annoyed me so I explained how I didn't really want to wait on my own for 20mins and would rather sit outside and wait with Dave. She said it was fine and went to go get Dave.
We sat outside for a little while and before long our masseurs came out and introduced themselves. We picked out our oils and made ourselves comfortable in the room. Then it was time to relax and unwind. Was so needed for us, the tension just melted away from our shoulders.
Sorry there are no pictures, but we didn't bring the camera and didn't really think to take pictures
After our massages we made our way back to the Poly. Dave couldn't stop gushing with thanks and that he loved his present. There's still more to come I said. We got back to the room and relaxed for a bit before getting changed to make our lunch reservation at Tony's. We were excited about eating here again as we loved Tony's from our first trip. On to the monorail we hopped and before long we were at MK. Now we have never really gone to the parks at the weekend as we heard that it can get pretty busy because of the locals visiting for the day. Boy were we right, MK was heaving that day. So glad we don't go on weekends.
We arrived at Tony's and checked in on time. They were quick with our table as just as we sat down in the waiting area our names were called, score
We were seated in the terrace-y part which was lovely and bright. Our server introduced herself and so did not look like she was happy to there. She took our orders and when I asked a question about "were they already peeled" she gave me the most funny look as if "why the hell would you ask me that question". That did not keep me in a good mood as I thought, do you not know that these things can come like that (you get what I mean in a sec).
Our starters came out. Mixed Greens for Dave and Toasted Cheese and Garlic Bread for me.
Dave says the salad wasn't anything special. Mine on the other hand was awful

There was no garlic on the bread and it was hardly toasted. I took one bite and that was it. Our server came back and asked why I hadn't touched my food, to which I replied it wasn't very nice. "Oh well" she says.
Next came the mains. Shrimp Scampi for me and Panini of the Day for Dave which was chicken.
Now you get why I said peeled earlier right? Luckily they were. The only reason I asked was because I had ordered the very same dish in Italy early that year and I had to peel the things myself (which for someone that has had scampi for the first time was not fun). Mine was ok, nothing special bit too greasy for my liking. I don't think Dave liked his, said it was absolutely disgusting. It was soggy with no flavour.
We decided to skip dessert as we didn't want to be disappointed with that. Our server was shocked that we didn't want any because it was included in our meal. I had to bite my tongue not to say that we just wanted to get the hell out of there because the food was awful and your service crap! I think I was more annoyed because I picked this place for lunch for Dave on his birthday and I felt like it had been ruined
Leaving the restaurant we quickly decided to leave the park as it was just too busy to even think about tackling for a quick ride. I wanted to go to PhilharMagic for Dave, but god only knew what the wait time for that would have been. So we made our way back to the resort for some downtime.
We did stop for a quick PP Pic though.
Gosh this is so bad of us, apart from our meals we have no other pictures at this point. I think we might have made an attempt to go to the pool, but it was pretty busy. I think this is another con for the Poly in that it only has two pools, the main pool you can forgive for being busy because its the main pool and has the big slide. The quiet pool however you would expect to be just that, but because they only have the one on property its not really a quiet pool as you get the guests that don't want to be near the main pool ending up here. Anywho sorry for the rant. Rested and ready to go we made our way to the Tambu Lounge for drinks before dinner.
I love the Tambu Lounge, especially sitting at the bar. Dave got to chatting about college football with the bar tender who was mixing away like a pro and talking. He was that good that he would get his order and be mixing away like a demon without having to look at a recipe or order once.
We had quite a few cocktails. My first one was Magical something or other.
Soooooooooooo yummy and so dangerous, this thing tasted like fruit juice, could not taste the alcohol. So getting another one of those this year Dave had a Backscratcher.
Yummy yum. We also had Pina Colava, Daquiri's and some others I can't remember or took a picture of. I did make a pitstop at the store to get some US mags and pretzels to snack on as well.
We had a really good time in the lounge and could quite happily spend a few hours there again this year, if we can.
Before long Ohana had opened and it was time to check in for our ADR. We were looking forward to eating here again as we had such a great time the last trip.
Our sever showed us to our table. It was a packed night tonight, this there was a wedding party having their rehearsal dinner.
Before long the food started coming out and our server was very good and brought out our noodles just as the meat was being served (last time they bought it out too early and it went cold).
