Poor Unfortunate Souls ~ A Spooktacular Trip Back to the World! UPDATE Reality Check

Just read your last update! and loved it, getting to draw Stitch with the CM is definitely one of those magical moments that make you want to go to Disney rather than anywhere else in the World! I liked the photo you got with the cast member, so nice!:cutie:

Ooooh, that line for Earl of Sandwich looked long! I'm gonna have to warm my mum she wants to go there the night they arrive in Disney, so will warn her to stick it out in line!

Ooooh, D&B wristlets, will they be appearing anywhere in the trip report? I love all the D&B Disney stuff so much!!!

That was an awesome moment for us :goodvibes We had just finished with Mickie & Minnie and were walking back through toontown and just happened to spot the CM drawing away. Not many people paid attention though and were either walking through it or in one instance, just stodd right in the middle of it while he was trying to draw  He was very sweet though and has been in their classrooms learning to draw characters properly as well and was quite shy about having his picture taken. We dont usually ask CM's but in this instance we wanted to remember that moment and who made us happy :goodvibes

I don't think she has pictures currently but hey, that's an excuse for me to get my SLR out of the bag

We interrupt this trip report to bring you some breaking news!!!

Disneyland Paris!!!

We are very excited as its been about four years since we were last there :cheer2:  :yay: :dance3:

We booked two nights at the Newport Bay Club staying on the Admiral Floor with a lake view. The hotel looks really lovely, very Yach/Beach Club esq.

NewportBayClubSmall.jpg

Its gonna be a great mini break as its just after Christmas, there's lots of new things to see and experience and believe it or not I am actually looking forward to the weather at that time as it will make it even more authentic :teeth: Am already preparing and browsing for coats and thermals

That's great! Yes, thermals are needed believe me. Me and my friend went for New Years Eve and it was bitterly cold.

While I should have been hard at work today, I came across your thread and couldn't stop reading!! The more I read the more excited that I was becoming for my trip this october! Thank you so much for posting your trip! Congrats on your upcoming marriage and honeymoon, you are going to have a blast! (here's to hoping for a TR of the cruise????) I'll be quite honest, while the thought of visiting the other Disney places sounds fun, I don't think anything can hold a candle to the WDW in Orlando! Just stepping off that plane and getting on the ME, a feeling takes over you and BAM, you're hooked! I took my mother, her first trip, and my son, his second trip, to WDW in October of 09. My mother was just going along for the ride because she knew how excited my son was going to be. When she got on the ME, I could see her start to relax, passing by the resorts and watching the video on board the ME, I could see she was slowly inhaling the Pixie dust. After checking in to our hotel and then heading off to the Prime Time Cafe, which by the way was HILARIOUS, she was hooked!!! Everyday, she and my son would go crazy with excitment. I am happy to say she is offically hooked on Disney, and can no longer go into a Disney Store at the local mall without tearing up!! Happy to say we are going back this October for longer, we were supposed to go last October but an elderly relative I live with and care for had a stroke and we had to cancel. My little guy was so big and understood! We are going all out this year, and I have a ton of surprises in store for both mom and son! Booking a spa day at Mandara for mom, if anyone has done this advice would be great, and then tickets to the Not so Scary Halloween party for my son, hope it's worth it. As for me? My treat will be to get my picture taken with my favorite princess, Aurora, and my main man, Stitch!!!:stitch:

Again thanks for the thread and please keep it up!!!

Dinner was at Coral Reef, we were both looking forward to this. We checked in and waited for our buzzer to buzz. We sat outside as the waiting area always has the seats taken.

We found a spot near where the strollers were parked and next to this South American couple. There were these two kids running around all over the place, turned out it was this couples kids. We went to look at the menu as they were getting too close to comfort (they were jumping and bouncing all over the place!). I sat back down and Dave stood in front of me and we were chatting away when all of a sudden one of the little "tykes" smacked Dave on the back of the leg. To say I was gobsmacked was an understatement, the boy just laughed and ran away, I turned to look at the parents and they had the gall to actually laugh and not apologise on behalf of their brat of a kid. After giving them the evil eye, I spotted the little brat coming back for seconds and as was about to smack Dave again I shouted out "NO!!!" and pointed at him, it was a good thing he didn't do it as Dave wouldn't have taken kindly at being hit a second time. Best part was the little thing looked scared after I shouted at him  Guess he doesn't have much discipline in his sheltered little life. Thankfully their buzzer went off not long after that.

Ours went off not long after and I prayed that we didn't get a seat anywhere near them as a fuss would have been made and tables changed if it did. But thankfully we were seated on the upper floor and the meal for the rest of the night was drama free.

For starters we got the Appetiser for Two consisting of Crab cakes, land and sea shrimp and tenderloin and the lobster bisque. The bisque and beef were yumma, but glad it was only a small cup size of soup as it was a bit too rich tasting for me to have a whole bowlful.

WDWTrip2010819.jpg

For our Mains, Dave went for the seared chicken breast (I think), but the descrip looks different from whats in the picture :confused3

WDWTrip2010822.jpg

I went for the Roasted Pork Tenderloin with mash on the side as I wasn't too sure about the polenta and wanted backup in case I didn't like it.

WDWTrip2010821.jpg

Mine was quite scrumptious, the pork was cooked quite well and tasted like roast pork. The polenta was so so, but I was glad I had gotten the mash on the side.

I think Dave enjoyed his, sauce went very nicely with the rice and the chicken was nice and tender.

For dessert Dave went for the Baileys and Jack Daniels Mousse and I went for the The Chocolate Wave.

WDWTrip2010824.jpg

WDWTrip2010823.jpg

WDWTrip2010825.jpg

Dave polished off his dessert before I had taken two bites of mine, so it must have been good

Mine was delish, the sauce and the heat of the cake was to die for.

All in all a good meal, but I doubt we will go back again as it didn't really pull us in this time.

I was starting to feel drained from the heat earlier on in the day and was very much ready to go home and crawl into bed. So off we went, walking through FW in the evening was quite nice as it was totally empty and nice and peaceful. We even managed to find the sidewalk lights that I have heard so much about. Pretty aren't they.

WDWTrip2010826.jpg

WDWTrip2010827.jpg

We got to the monorail ramp and saw that there was a line starting midway up (I think Illuminations had finished and this was the crowds leaving for the night), so we thought screw that and caught a cab back to the resort and fell into bed with our little family of accumulating plushes.

WDWTrip2010829.jpg

Lol, thats what happened when we went to Florida; me and my brother kept getting plushes. In the end there was: Medium sized Stitch, Animal, Beaker, little Jedi Mickey, Barney the Dinosaur (though he came with us) and three mcdonalds beanies. You sound like you had a great time in Epcot!

Yes the lines do look crazy busy and we have walked away from similar in the past, but it does move quickly and is so worth the wait :)

Will get Dave to take some pics of the wristlets I bought. Love them, their so cute. Can't wait to get some more this year and from the Cruise too :teeth:

That's great! Yes, thermals are needed believe me. Me and my friend went for New Years Eve and it was bitterly cold.

:welcome: We did bring our thermals and were very glad we did, was soooooo cold there.

Hi and :welcome: thanks for joining in, glad that we have kept you riveted, hope your boss didn't catch you  Your trip this year sounds like it is going to be even more fantastic that your 09 trip :)

Exactly! In fact, my mum said 'you're only allowed to buy one, you have too many cuddlies already!' But I 'forgot':rolleyes1

Hey All

How are we doing?

Sorry its been so long, but you have been lovely and patient. Am going to try and finish up this report by the end of this month as am hoping to start the PTR next month :teeth:

So where did we leave off....ah yes Day 11 and a very special day it was too.

Day 11 - Saturday 9th October
Today was someones birthday and lucky him he got to wake up on his birthday at the most happiest place on earth. Today was going to be full of surprises and I couldn't wait to get going.

We woke up not too early and I gave Dave his cards and presents. I'd got him his first pair of ears and birthday ones at that with his name stitched on the back. Our good friends Joe and Sophia had also gotten him a little something and a lovely gift it was, his first Disney watch.
51.jpg

Presents opened, selves dressed we headed out to breakfast at Kona. I have to say that we were on a strict time train everything I had planned was timed out perfectly (or so I thought). We had an ADR at Kona for 9:30am which would give us enough time to eat at a nice pace and then head over to where we needed to be for 11am.

We arrived at the podium before 9:30am and checked in, only problem was they couldn't find my reservation :scared1: Not a great start to the day I could tell you. So I quickly explained the situation and that I certainly did have a reservation as I had a reservation number. The CM was wonderful and sorted everything out and before we knew it we were seated at our table.

Here is Dave in his ears :teeth:
WDWTrip20101637.jpg

Breakfast was yummy here, can't wait to eat there again this year. First up we have our drinks order, Lilikoi Juice and some Lattes.
WDWTrip20101638.jpg

Then it was time for food :teeth: I went for the ham and cheese omelette, whilst Dave went for the Eggs Benedict.
WDWTrip20101639.jpg

WDWTrip20101640.jpg

The omelette was soooooooo good, just the right amount of ham and cheese. So tasty. Dave wasn't as keen on his, I don't think he expected it to be what came out, bless him.

Breakfast done we headed back to the room, so I could secretly pack some bits as I said we were going for a nice walk (which we were). Bag packed we made our way out for our "walk". Past the quiet pool, around GCH, past the marina, then on past the Luau. It was a fair old walk and Dave was very good and asked no questions. On we kept walking, I said that we had to make a quick pitstop as my toenail polish had come "off" and I wanted to get it fixed at the spa.

In we went up to reception where I confirmed our reservation for 11am for the Grand Couples Massage. Dave went "but I don't have my swimming trunks!" No problem I said and whipped them out my bag. He was so surprised and a little speechless, so far so good. We went our separate ways to get changed, my CM told me that when it was time my masseur would come and get me. Hold up I had to wait in the ladies room til my massage time?!? I mean don't get me wrong it was nice, but when you're on your own not so much. So I said would it be ok to sit in the lobby area with Dave to wait, she looked at me oddly which annoyed me so I explained how I didn't really want to wait on my own for 20mins and would rather sit outside and wait with Dave. She said it was fine and went to go get Dave.

We sat outside for a little while and before long our masseurs came out and introduced themselves. We picked out our oils and made ourselves comfortable in the room. Then it was time to relax and unwind. Was so needed for us, the tension just melted away from our shoulders.

Sorry there are no pictures, but we didn't bring the camera and didn't really think to take pictures

After our massages we made our way back to the Poly. Dave couldn't stop gushing with thanks and that he loved his present. There's still more to come I said. We got back to the room and relaxed for a bit before getting changed to make our lunch reservation at Tony's. We were excited about eating here again as we loved Tony's from our first trip. On to the monorail we hopped and before long we were at MK. Now we have never really gone to the parks at the weekend as we heard that it can get pretty busy because of the locals visiting for the day. Boy were we right, MK was heaving that day. So glad we don't go on weekends.

We arrived at Tony's and checked in on time. They were quick with our table as just as we sat down in the waiting area our names were called, score :thumbsup2

We were seated in the terrace-y part which was lovely and bright. Our server introduced herself and so did not look like she was happy to there. She took our orders and when I asked a question about "were they already peeled" she gave me the most funny look as if "why the hell would you ask me that question". That did not keep me in a good mood as I thought, do you not know that these things can come like that (you get what I mean in a sec).

Our starters came out. Mixed Greens for Dave and Toasted Cheese and Garlic Bread for me.
WDWTrip20101642.jpg

WDWTrip20101641.jpg

Dave says the salad wasn't anything special. Mine on the other hand was awful :( There was no garlic on the bread and it was hardly toasted. I took one bite and that was it. Our server came back and asked why I hadn't touched my food, to which I replied it wasn't very nice. "Oh well" she says.

Next came the mains. Shrimp Scampi for me and Panini of the Day for Dave which was chicken.
WDWTrip20101643.jpg

WDWTrip20101644.jpg

Now you get why I said peeled earlier right? Luckily they were. The only reason I asked was because I had ordered the very same dish in Italy early that year and I had to peel the things myself (which for someone that has had scampi for the first time was not fun). Mine was ok, nothing special bit too greasy for my liking. I don't think Dave liked his, said it was absolutely disgusting. It was soggy with no flavour.

We decided to skip dessert as we didn't want to be disappointed with that. Our server was shocked that we didn't want any because it was included in our meal. I had to bite my tongue not to say that we just wanted to get the hell out of there because the food was awful and your service crap! I think I was more annoyed because I picked this place for lunch for Dave on his birthday and I felt like it had been ruined :(

Leaving the restaurant we quickly decided to leave the park as it was just too busy to even think about tackling for a quick ride. I wanted to go to PhilharMagic for Dave, but god only knew what the wait time for that would have been. So we made our way back to the resort for some downtime.

We did stop for a quick PP Pic though.
Photo0458FourBySix.jpg

Gosh this is so bad of us, apart from our meals we have no other pictures at this point. I think we might have made an attempt to go to the pool, but it was pretty busy. I think this is another con for the Poly in that it only has two pools, the main pool you can forgive for being busy because its the main pool and has the big slide. The quiet pool however you would expect to be just that, but because they only have the one on property its not really a quiet pool as you get the guests that don't want to be near the main pool ending up here. Anywho sorry for the rant. Rested and ready to go we made our way to the Tambu Lounge for drinks before dinner.

I love the Tambu Lounge, especially sitting at the bar. Dave got to chatting about college football with the bar tender who was mixing away like a pro and talking. He was that good that he would get his order and be mixing away like a demon without having to look at a recipe or order once.

We had quite a few cocktails. My first one was Magical something or other.
WDWTrip20101647.jpg

Soooooooooooo yummy and so dangerous, this thing tasted like fruit juice, could not taste the alcohol. So getting another one of those this year Dave had a Backscratcher.
WDWTrip20101649.jpg

Yummy yum. We also had Pina Colava, Daquiri's and some others I can't remember or took a picture of. I did make a pitstop at the store to get some US mags and pretzels to snack on as well.

We had a really good time in the lounge and could quite happily spend a few hours there again this year, if we can.

Before long Ohana had opened and it was time to check in for our ADR. We were looking forward to eating here again as we had such a great time the last trip.

Our sever showed us to our table. It was a packed night tonight, this there was a wedding party having their rehearsal dinner.

Before long the food started coming out and our server was very good and brought out our noodles just as the meat was being served (last time they bought it out too early and it went cold).

Dinner done with we made our way back to the room. But we had finished a little earlier than I had anticipated and I wasn't sure if Surprise No. 2 had been carried out. So I made a quick pitstop to reception to enquire and was told the good news I was waiting for.

So we walked back to the room to "end" the night. I let Dave open the door as I "couldn't" find my keycard ;) He walked into the room and stopped dead. I was a little disappointed as he hadn't noticed this beforehand but then I guess if you don't walk around looking at the floor all the time you wouldn't.

Surprise No. 2
WDWTrip20101659.jpg

WDWTrip20101660.jpg

WDWTrip20101661.jpg

I had ordered the From Mickey and Minnie Mouse With Love from the Disney Florist. You get rose petals leading to the bed where you find this.
WDWTrip20101665.jpg

You also get a custom matted photo of Mickey and Minnie
WDWTrip20101662.jpg

WDWTrip20101663.jpg

You get a gorgeous bunch of roses with some hidden mickey elements.
WDWTrip20101664.jpg

Personalised His and Her's towels with a spa basket.
WDWTrip20101667.jpg

You also get a turndown service as well with pillow chocolates.
WDWTrip20101676.jpg

Tinker Bell also sprinkles some magic around the room too, we found her perched on the wall changing colours.
WDWTrip20101674.jpg

WDWTrip20101675.jpg

I had also added some birthday balloons held down by none other than Stitch himself.
WDWTrip20101673.jpg

WDWTrip20101668.jpg

WDWTrip20101677.jpg

WDWTrip20101678.jpg

I was so pleased with how they had done it and can't recommend Disney Florist enough, so friendly and helpful. A+ service. Dave was speechless and couldn't believe all this was for him.

He also had another little surprise from Joe and Sophia in the form of a yummy fruit basket complete with dipping chocolate.
WDWTrip20101669.jpg

WDWTrip20101671.jpg

WDWTrip20101672.jpg

Before I could let it all sink in we had another place to be and had to be on time. Yep thats right another Surprise No. 3! We made our way down to GCH and stopped outside the game room, this is your surprise I said a night of games and me kicking your a$s at air hockey! Nah not really, I need you to stay put whilst I go sort something out. So I left him be and made my way out to search for a certain someone. There was noone there and I was starting to panic as it was nearing the time we needed to be where we needed to be. So I ran to reception to try and find out whats going on, but was met with a line of people "argh" not good I got five mins and this line is longer than 5mins! I went to bell services and asked them where I could find x they told me to line up at reception and ask, thanks alot guys so helpful. So I lined up and made it to the front only to be told they didn't know anything, blah blah I'm not very helpful blah blah.

So I ran back to where I left Dave, well ran right past as I had to find this person. I started walking and was worrying away in my head and looked right through who I needed to see! Thank god I had found him, I told him I had to go get the birthday boy and that it was still a surprise he had no idea about. Found Dave and led him round to...

Cntd...

Our very own pontoon boat, yep that's right his last surprise was a Wishes Cruise.

Do you know I have never seen Dave so speechless in my life bless him  We had our very own boat to ourselves stocked with soda and snacks. Was heaven! Our captain was great and was actually a trainer to CM's as well and told us alot of what its like to be a CM. Oh and get this, he was 21!!! 3 years younger than us. Man we felt old.

He took us out to tour some of the resorts and gave us some information about each one. Sorry I can't remember much of what he said. It was so hard to take photos on the boat as he liked to go fast, plus its a bit bumpy (but not bad bumpy), so the pictures didn't really come out well.

WDWTrip20101681.jpg

Our lovely boat.
WDWTrip20101683.jpg

WDWTrip20101686.jpg

We got to see the EWP up close which was cool.

Then we made our way to our front row seats for Wishes.

WDWTrip20101734.jpg

Can I just say that the Wishes Cruise is just ah-may-zing!!! You get so close to MK entrance and the expanse of how you see the fireworks is incredible. We cannot wait to do another one this year. Its just so special.

All in all not a bad day, turned out perfectly except for the few hiccups. But it turned out so well and David had the best time of his life and that was all that matter.

WDWTrip20101735.jpg

WDWTrip20101736.jpg

Now I just gotta figure out how to top this one

Stefy,
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are awesome, what a fabulous Birthday you planned and executed for Dave. He is one lucky guy. Fantastic from start to finish. I love the spa/massage idea. The watch, all the wonderful gifts in the room after dinner, the cocktail time, the pontoon boat, the petals on the bed. That was just one of the nicest birthdays I have seen in a long time. I would put it in my top 3 list, for sure.
I love to make people's birthday special, it is one day a year and really if you can't go all out on their b-day whn can you?
Bravo Stefy and Dave.

PS
One year, well the last that they still had a race in the US. I surprised my DH for his birthday with a trip to Indianapolis for the F1 race. That was the biggest I ever did.

that looked like the most amazing birthday... ever!! well done Stefy :thumbsup2

I am even more excited for honeymoon now as we are going to do a couples' spa, dinner at 'Ohanas & a Wishes cruise :wizard:

shame about the lunch at Tony's.. it sounds like the CM just wasn't in the right frame of mind?! :confused3 I've never eaten there, my parents have and said it's ok.. except that my Mum asked to see the wine list :rolleyes1 bless her!

Could you PM me how much that Disney Florist package was?! it looks fantastic!!
