Poor Paris Hilton

Okay, I don't have sound working on my computer. Can someone give me arundown on what Silverman said?

I'm assuming it was bad, but it looked like Paris kept her composure pretty good.
She said that to make Paris more comfortable in jail, they were going to paint the bars to look like a certain part of the male anatomy, and that Paris would break her teeth on them.

I thought it went a little too far at first, because I really don't know much about Paris Hilton, and have always just thought of her as an attention seeking bimbo. But if she made the defamatory comments that hentob mentioned, I have a hard time giving a carp what anyone else says about her.

And I am sure that a few black people, and an occasional Asian has made fun of her as well. If she was a comedian, like "Sarah" for example, she would have been given a pass, "she's a comedian, that's what she does". I think a large number of people gave Rosie a pass, "she's a comedian" but Paris gets labled as racist.

Wow:eek:

She is not a comedian. This was not an act on stage. She was at a party. She said HORRIBLE things that I have NEVER heard any comedian even come close to saying.

I was laughing and cringing at the same time. It wouldn't have been sooo bad if the producers didn't focus on Paris. :rotfl2:

What has Paris done? I think she has done a good job of marketing herself and being self supporting. She is an heiress, she doesn't have to work but she makes $7 million a year being Paris. I wish I could make 10% of that "being Dawn". She has had one DUI, not 5, not 10. She shouldn't have had any but she drank one drink after not eating all day, and at less than 100 pounds, she had a .08% That was legal a few years ago. I think there are a lot worse examples in Hollywood than Paris. She said in an interview yesterday, and I paraphrase, that she hopes to set an example for young people in what not to do. She is ready to serve her time. I think that there are a lot of other people out there who are a real danger to society but are walking free. Paris isn't a threat to anyone. She is there for punishment only. Punishment isn't a bad thing but she isn't being jailed for 'our safety'.

I will give Paris her props for being able to make money by just being Paris. It is an amazing statement about our society in general.

Personally, I didn't find the comments at the MTV awards funny, but Paris is a public figure, and so she has opened herself up to this type of treatment. I don't feel sorry for her, she chose to be in the spot light, so you take the good with the bad.

Regarding her jail sentence. It is because she VIOLATED the terms of her 36 month probation. She has the means available to hire a permanent driver, but CHOSE to drive anyway, pretty much saying she is above the law. Again, I feel the sentence should be served, and she has to follow the terms of her probation just like the rest of the regular joes in the world.

Wasn't her best friend, growing up and into her young adult life Nicole Richie?
I think if she was a racist, they wouldn't have ever been friends. Apparently they are friends again, and Nicole Richie doesn't feel she is a racist. From what I gather, she said what she said about two specific men, not an entire race of people. It wasn't right, it wasn't nice and it wasn't appropriate but it doesn't make her a racist. I have heard comedians say far worse, including and especially black comedians.

I agree, she should serve her sentence but I hear over and over again that it is for the DUI. It isn't as you pointed out. She also only got caught driving, not drunk driving, so on some level she has learned a lesson already....unlike many of her Hollywood counterparts.

Ah--The ol' "My friend is black, I could never be a racist";)

Typical.

I still don't understand how someone can be this famous for doing absolutely nothing. :confused3

I agree. We keep talking about the DUI and her sentence was 36 months probation. I hope she has learned her lesson.

It is so true about MANY Hollywood counterparts. They think that they can do whatever they want to do, and that they are above the law. Just look at Lindsay Lohan for example. And it appears Rehab is the new spa for celebs.

The key here is Sarah was absolutely spot on with her comments. Paris' history as a party girl is very well known. It's not like she has ever done anything to make people feel differently. Adding a DUI to the mix only makes her look worse.

Friendships aren't one sided. If she were racist, Nicole wouldn't have been friends with her; not the other way around.

I think Paris is being singled out because she's a "poor little rich girl."

Ya, it had nothing to do with coming to her court date 20 minutes late. Doing her makeup on the way in, saying hi to the fans in the courtroom while the judge is waiting. Then the judge asks if she knew she was not allowed to drive and if she had read and understood the document she signed. She told the judge "I have people to read that stuff for me..."

It is her constant disregard for the law that has earned her jail time and comments from comedians.

Mikeeee

Here is how she makes some of her money. http://www.forbes.com/lists/2006/53/U3HH.html She also gets $300K for showing up at night clubs.
That kind of proves the point, doesn't it?
The celebutante has amassed her personal fortune mainly through licensing deals
Most people become famous first for some sort of ability, be it acting, singing, athletics, art, etc, before they are able to get any kind of licensing deal. She is famous just for being famous. :confused3

Now, I will admit that she is a shrewd businesswoman. She has somehow managed to convince millions of people that they ought to care about her. That's really quite an accomplishment.

I know Nicole Richie is Lionel's daughter but wasn't she adopted? Is she black?

I could really give a rat's patoot if the Judge IS singling out Paris for whatever reason. Paris is a dimwit and a (insert slang for "woman of ill-repute"). She completely had the chiding by Sarah Silverman coming to her.

BTW, Paris has already sold the rights to publish her "prison diary" for some ridiculous multi-million dollar deal. So go on and let your heart bleed for the trollop. She'll come out on the other end just fine (well maybe with a nice new prison tat). You know what you get when you polish a turd don't you?

A shiney turd.

Exactly. I don't think she is the "idiot" that so many portray her as. I also don't think she is the "horrible" person she is so often accused of being.

Honestly, I don't feel a bit sorry for Paris Hilton. Here is a girl that had every advantage in life, but chooses to make a mockery of it all. She is probably very happy that everyone is discussing "Poor Paris" today.
