For my August trip with my Granddaughter ( she's 9), we will arrive on a Monday. We should be arriving around 11 am. I plan to reserve a cabana for the day, so that we can just leave our bags with bell services while we relax at the pool, eat some lunch and swim, while we wait for our room. We don't need a big lunch, as I plan to do the Goofys kitchen character dinner that night. Also, I've probably got one of the pickiest eaters on the planet with me, doesn't eat sandwiches, no chicken nuggets, hamburgers, or usual kids stuff. If we can maybe just get some snacks, like some fruit, some fries etc to tide us over to dinner that would be great, I know we will need something as we will have traveled from Cental time zone , so it will feel later for us.

What food is available poolside? While the Tangaroa Terrance menu looks interesting, there really isn't anything on that menu she would eat.

Your cabana will come with a fruit basket. I’m nearly positive you can order fries.
Thanks. Maybe I could just get some cheese, crackers, . Of course my granddaughter wouldn't touch the cheese, ( unless it was queso/chips, or mozzarella sticks or cheese pizza, can't figure it out sometimes )
We will figure it out. Most places have a menu poolside for mobile order or something. Now August needs to get here!

The poolside menu is basically the Tangaroa Terrace menu. Note that they only have sweet potatoe fries, not regular fries. They do have “grab and go” items (these are listed on the menu online but you have to scroll down to the bottom), basically dry cereal, oatmeal, various fruits, baked goods like croissants and muffins, bagged chips, etc., she might find so something she likes there. From what I understand you can also order food from Downtown Disney for delivery to the hotel.

In a cabana, you will have a poolside menu and a dedicated cabana server to take your order and bring you your food.

You can also grab snacks (like the crackers you mentioned) in the gift shop in the lobby of the hotel - mickey goldfish, etc. The Tangaroa terrace also has the kids ”power pack” which I found helpful for my picky eater (yogurt smoothie, goldfish, carrots and a mandarin orange. Lots of fresh fruit options as well, and many places have the baybel cheese, but I honestly cant recall if I saw it there or not.

The QS/poolside food situation at DLH is not the greatest for picky kids, IMO. They don't even have regular fries, which is honestly a deal breaker for us. I love sweet potato fries. ,y kids not so much.

The poolside menu is the Tangaroa Terrace menu. You can get fruit there. What DOES the kid eat? They have some menu items like grilled chicken with steamed rice and broccoli. Would she eat stuff like that? They do also have those kid power packs, which is a Daminals yogurt smoothie, a mandarin, carrots and goldfish crackers.

I'd consider venturing into Downtown Disney as soon as you arrive and find a little something to eat there, so you can just enjoy your pool time afterwards without stressing about food. As mentioned, you will get a fruit basket and drinks with the cabana rental.

Thanks we will probably do the power pack, and supplement with some snacks from home. A lot of stuff is texture based and she does has some reflux/intestinal issues that can flare up. No meat, chicken, or most fish (she'll eat her granpop fried catfish).
Breakfast is pretty easy, she'll eat cereal, yogurt, banana, pancakes , bacon, waffle.(but not cinnamon rolls! How can this child be related to me!)

Lunch/dinner more challenging. Mashed potatoes, unless have skins, Mac and cheese( but not fancified) plain pasta with butter, mozzarella sticks, foccaia bread(only bread she will eat usually), quesidilla (cheese inside only), cheese or black olive pizza, pickled okra, salad(lettuce only) carrots, most fruit, plain white rice with butter, some Chinese fried rice( but can't have veggies in it), soft taco with refried beans and rice. Will snack on particular types of fruit snacks, applesauce, chips, regular French fries, not sweet potato. Loves churrros, ate a lot of those at WDW last summer.

So we will start out with a good breakfast, and I'll scour the menus for something she likes and we will go from there, and bring snacks in my park bag.
