Pool towels at value resorts.

I was watching a video on Youtube of a review of All Star Sports. The lady making the video said that there are no towels at any of the pools at any of the All Star Resorts, and that you have to use what's in your room. Is that true? It's not a big deal, I've just never seen that at any hotel.

That is typical of Disney's value resorts. Call housekeeping and they will bring you more towels.

We really liked AofA last year but this ridiculous policy is one reason I may hesitate to choose a value ever again. It was simply unacceptable to have to remember to call housekeeping to bring extra towels and then carry them to the pool. Not sure how this saves them $ (having housekeeping spending what is probably hours a day delivering towels to most rooms). Stupid policy. If they're worried about people taking too many, have a sign in/out policy.

Ugh!! Nooooo. Well, ok. Are they good about bringing towels in a timely manner? How long would you say they take to deliver towels to the room when requested?

When we've stayed values, we generally had to wait about 30-45 minutes to get our towels but there was one time we waited about 10 minutes and then another time we waited about an hour. I think it's a hit or miss kind of thing, with towel delivery depending on how busy housekeeping is with other issues.

I have never had them be anything but great about it. One stay at the Music resort, the second night in a row I called down for towels they brought me a giant heap of them. I think whoever was running housekeeping that night was a bit of a smarty-pants, as she teased me about calling 2 nights in a row too! But I thought it was hugely funny, and about laughed myself silly when the mound of towels appeared at my door.:rotfl2:

Do you know if we're allowed to go to where housekeeping stores the towels and ask for them there?

That doesn't sound bad! :thumbsup2

We stayed at All Star Sports in April, and I was surprised to discover that they had big carts of towels available at the pool.

We have always found a cart full of towels by the elevators in the Calypso buildings at ASMu. There is a sign somewhere (in the room?) that said to use room towels at the pool. Those carts were full of room towels. :-)

perhaps it is one of the ways they separate amenities provided for the values from the mods/deluxe resorts?

It traditionally has been, but All-Star Sports now has Pool Towels at both Surfboard Bay and Grand Slam(it remains to be seen if the other Values eventually follow suit).

Also, another amenity separating the Values from the Mods/Luxes,fridges,were added to the Values several years ago,so the "separating amenities" list is getting smaller.:)

That would be awesome if they would put them on carts by the pools! We've always just grabbed extras from the carts they have around or called to ask for more if there was no cart.

I don't think that list getting smaller is a good thing. If there is very little left separating the values and moderates, soon the price won't be much different either.

We stayed in one of the family suites when the AOA first opened, and they were pretty great about bringing towels to the room. It didn't make sense to me for them to have to do that. It seems it would be far simpler and cheaper to just have towels at the pool. Having people hand delivering towels all day and evening is terribly inefficient.
