Sorry if this is a repeat. I asked a similar question before, but I'm planning a trip for next March and am wondering if DLH is worth it for me at that time of year. The pool is the main draw for us. But, when we travel we usually stay in family suites off-site (never been to DL though) and I'd have to give up that room space for DLH hotel amenities.

For those who are there or who have recently returned.... Were you able to use the pool in March, and was the water temp appropriate? What are the big bonuses of staying at DLH (besides atmosphere) versus a 2-bedroom suite at Desert Inn & Suites, for example?

Thanks :)

We just returned from a stay at the Disneyland Hotel and the pool was nice and toasty. In fact one night when it was in the low 50s the kids ran down and got in and loved it. We love how close it is to the monorail and the overall Disney feel. We have stayed at all three hotels and the Disneyland Hotel is my husband and kids favorite!

meandthree we leave in three weeks, what type of clothing did you bring, shorts, capris, jeans, long sleeve shirts ? we are planning one day at US and i was told to bring jeans & a jacket because US is closer to the ocean and its hot during the day and gets cold in the evening.

We were at the DLH 03/9-03/12 and the weather was miserable. Low 40s at night and there were still people swimming so it must have been pretty toasty. We sure didn't attempt it though.

We wore jeans and sweats pretty much the whole time. I think one day we wore capri's. California is so tricky because you really do have to pack for two seasons. If I were you I would get on Weatherchannel.com and look at the 10 day forecast. That will definitely give you a clue. At night you will definitely need jeans, sweatshirts and jackets. During the day maybe a light jacket though my 8 year old would vacilate from jacket to short sleeves. It is nice to have the option though. By the way my kids swam while I sat by the pool in sweats and a jacket.

We went swimming today...about an hour north of Disneyland. The last two days have been shorts and flip flops weather...really beautiful. But the rest of the month has been gloomy and cold, with jeans, sweatshirts and warm socks.

Its really hard to tell what its going to be like! If you are coming from somewhere cold, you will probably laugh at all the silly Californians running around in sweaters hat, gloves and scarves because it has dipped below 60. If you are from a warmer climate you will probably be wearing your own sweatshirt and gloves. :teeth:

I love the DLH and have detailed the reasons why in many posts. Mostly to sum it up, it is just a magical place. There is tons of nostalgic Disney touches all over in the public areas as well as the hotel rooms. It is a ways to walk, but it is through Downtown Disney and I always found it was a great way to build up anticipation for the parks. The pool is really fun, and I am sure your kids will want to go in it even if it is freezing cold. :goodvibes

We were there in April last year and Jan. this year. You need to dress in layers, short sleeves, long sleeves and light jacket or sweatshirt. The pool was good in April and Cool in Jan. but we discovered the cove pool (the smaller one) was much warmer then the bit one, and not crowded. This was our Jan. trip.
have a great time.

We're from Canada. The high for today is 3 Celsius (which is 38F for Americans), and we're singing "Spring is here" because of our milder weather. -- Yes it's all relative :goodvibes I know whatever the weather in California, we'll be happy. I just don't want my little girls catching cold in the pool. My DD6 is a huge Peter Pan fan, and the pool is what's making me want to stay at DLH. But, I'd be disappointed in shelling out the bucks and not being able to use it.

I've been to WDW and never stayed on property. I always wanted spaciousness over "magic," but somehow DLH has a hold on me :wizard: despite the price

If you don't mind braving the cold to get to the pool you should be able to use it without a problem. Just bring a robe or something to get to the pool and then you should do just fine.

I know exactly what you mean. :teeth: You will most likely be able to get in the pool and have a great time, unless it is miserably cold or rainy. When we came down from Alaska we went in in November. And this year (living down here now) we went swimming on Christmas day. It was a very funny change from the year prior when we opened the front door on Christmas Eve to find it had snowed 2 1/2 feet in the night and we had to dig out way out to the driveway.

I agree with the above poster about bringing something warm to put on when you get out to get to the room, but you should have a great time!
