Pool Pass?

They DO promise exclusivity in the way they word their signage and printed materials. "Exclusive use of guests of the YC/BC/BCV" doesn't get much clearer than that.

So they are lying to their guests, and yes, even deceiving them with their current practices.

Personally I have serious problems with allowing resort guests to let their guests swim. It violates the "promise" that WDW made to me, a guest, in their printed materials of giving only guests of that resort access. I find it obscene that they would allow people who aren't even guests of other WDW resorts access to the pools, particularly ones like SAB that can barely contain their resort guest capacity.

As others have said--let them buy season passes for the waterparks.

If WDW as the property owner wants to ammend their rules at any time, they need to also ammend their materials so they aren't containing lies. They also need to consider the other owners...the DVC members that own BCV.

Lisa - good point. It's just I don't see this going anywhere other than where it has already been. Disney sells pool passes and some are not happy w/the increased crowds - two sides agree to disagree.

You're right though - this is what the boards are for.

:earseek: So this is what happens when magic and entitlement mentality collide! :earseek:

I can't believe people are defending the idea of selling hotel pool passes to locals! A year-long water park pass is available, and the water parks are all better and more spacious than the hotel pools.

Just a clarification . . . if I go to Disney in the summer, I am perfectly aware that the resorts will be more crowded. I'm fine with that because all those people are guests of the hotel, and they've paid to be there. I have not heard anyone say that they expect the pool to be empty just for them, but everyone who pays for a room should be able to have reasonable use of the pool -- adding non-guest swimmers diminishes reasonable use of the pool.

What I'm against is Disney overselling the pool and allowing non-guests in after Disney has promised that these areas are only for resort guests. This does take away from the resort guests' space. This is bad business.

Why am I personally concerned about it? I'm concerned because I've just chosen the YC as our next vacation spot -- and I want to know that I'll get what I pay for.

Lest anyone ask, I don't think non-guests should be allowed at the All-Stars or any other resort pools either.

sardon, please understand I didn't post in an effort to "whine", but as a response to the original poster's question about POOL PASSES. I was simply stating an experience we had. As far as I'm concerned this issue is over and done with and I've had many more trips to Disney since then (as well as Seaworld too by the way). In an effort to help another DISer in answering a question I offered my experience. Now as for my opinion - I do think Disney is wrong for doing this. Are they within their right? Well sure. Will I vacation at a deluxe again - of course. We check into The Wilderness Lodge in just over a week. Will I be upset if a daycare shows up - absolutely! I expect the resorts to be crowded during our summer trips, but I don't expect large groups of non-guest to arrive for a summer dip. Welcome to the DIS by the way, hopefully you'll find those of us who've been around awhile helpful if you have a question.

The day care trips happened 2 years ago. I haven't seen any posts indicating that the practice is still going on. I would expect (or at least hope) that with the addition of BCV the practice has stopped.

Renting out the pool for local day care centers is not something that one expects with a deluxe 4 or 5 star property. There are reasons that the Disney hotels are not rated as highly as Disney thinks they should be.

I understand the one of the reasons GF isn't really rated 5* is the vast number of non-hotel guests that go through the hotel on a daily basis.
