Pool Not Hopping

Honestly if you weren't swimming it wouldn't be too bad to be asked to leave so if you wanted to do say Kidani I would just go at a less busy time (they don't always have the gate need an id, they didn't when I was there last). If you can get in great. Hang out by the pool. If someone says anything just go to one of the animal areas and do that instead.

Personally, if I went to all the trouble to go to a resort just to have a drink, I would sit where you could see all the animals at AKL. More relaxing and very unique.

When we’ve stayed at the Beach Club they’ve always checked our room keys too. Then they give you a wristband to get into SAB. You can grab a drink and sit on the beach though. I don't think anyone would stop you from doing that.

At Bay Lake, you had to swipe your KTTW card in order to get access into the pool.

We did pool hop once to the Grand Floridian and sat on the beach there and had a drink. No one stopped us.

I agree with the people who are annoyed at those who go to pools at resorts they are not staying at.
This does put me in a quandry this coming august tho. We are staying at CSR, our friends are staying at BC (they have 5 in their family - they would rather stay at CSR but can't). We want to swim together....sometimes at CSR, sometimes at BC. does this make me a hypocrite?
if they are requiring wristbands at BC what do we do? will we be able to do this, maybe I should go to the BC Desk and ask the manager....

Just wondering. We're staying at bwv for 11 nights and were thinking of going over 1 day to check out the resort n pool n stuff to see if this would interest us for a future visit or possible add on to our already 160 dvc points at ssr.Do u think that would b posssible? and if not is there somekind of cover charge that we could just pay per person as dvc members to use the pool for an .afternoon? Thanx in advance.

I have never heard of paying a cover to access SAB only that it is excluded from pool hopping priviledges of DVC Members. There is a walkway along the back of the resort where Beaches & Cream is located where you can check out the pool without needing to provide resort guest information.

SAB at BC is only for guests staying at that resort - not their friends.

If you want to swim together I would suggest spending a day at the waterpark together.

Are your friends DVC members? Or just staying at BC? If they are members they can pool hop to CSR. Other than that? In August I wouldn't even expect to be able to have them over. Even as DVC members we are told this privilege may be revoked depending on how busy it is.

Easy solution, use the quiet pools, just don't use SAB.

In my experience, you can see any pool area of any of the resorts by just walking out and looking. You don't have to "enter" to see it. Checking out the different resorts is a great way to spend a day and if you have eleven days there that would really be a nice relaxing day.

The pool area is under control of the lifeguards, they're the ones you would need to ask for an exception to the pool use policy. Even if the manager says it's OK, if the lifeguards feel that the pool area is crowded, they can refuse your family admittance.

I'd also recommend meeting at a water park. The odds are not good that your family will get into SAB in August, the pools are, of course, packed during the hottest summer months.

And, a quick moderator-ish reminder... :) This thread is about visiting pool bars. For further discussion on swimming at resorts other than the one you're staying at, please visit our Pool Hopping FAQ at the top of the boards.

Except where you can't:

SAB
AKL
BLT

and, DVC pool hopping is prohibited during certain blackout periods, generally during busy times of year. You may only visit other pools if you are staying at a DVC resort, on your points. Check the member site for all the details.

Last time we stayed they didn't check them after a certain time.... dark maybe... I'm just not sure if the pool bar would even be open then.

I suppose we could just ask.... it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Beach Club probably isn't that big of a deal... but Animal Kingdom would be nice.

The entire area of the BLT pool, including the Cove Pool Bar, requires a key to access.
Plus last October, we found the Bar closing early most days - well before the posted closing time. I don't remember the exact time, but I think the bartender was shutting down around 5pm. And since the self-serve soda fountain was out-of-order, we couldn't get refills for our refillable mugs either.

We do that all the time. Get a drink at the pool bar and just hang out at the bar or the pool. No one has ever checked our room key but we are in normal clothes not bathing suits. This past Oct we had drinks at the Poly and sat at the quiet pool for over an hour...we were the only two people the entire time

To me, it just doesn't seem that fun to me to go to a pool's bar and just sit. Visiting pools that I can't get into doesn't seem enjoyable. OP, are you sure your friends would enjoy that? And add in the idea that you might be denied entrance or "kicked out", and I can think of umpteen things I'd rather do.

If they are DVC members staying on points, as long as it's in the right time period, they can go swim at CSR with you, but SAB is going to be off limits to you.

So me being a dvc member our family can swim anywhere regardless of where we are staying????

The comprehensive info is on DVCmember...I believe it's in the Perks area.

.

I can understand that but if we are too early for our dinner reservations to a resort and do not feel like going back to our resort or a park then the pool bar is the perfect place to wait

The bar by the pool at the Dolphin is pretty nice. Didn't see a gate the whole time I stayed there. Have no idea what their policy is, beer was cold.

Except DVC members.... so the sign doesn't really say it ALL.

At this moment they are checking id and we saw that people had to leave because the main pool is very very busy due to the construction work for the new resort.
I never understood the fun of lugging you're crap around to another pool. :rotfl2:
Water is wet in every pool.
