Our family is planning to stay at OKW this September. We read that pool hopping is not allowed, but then we heard from someone else that you are allowed to visit other timeshare resort pools. Any information would be very appreciated. Thank you!

It's allowed at some other resort pools (not AKL or YC/BC) if you are a DVC member. If you are a cash guest, it's not allowed.

Thank you Ann.

We are renting points from a DVC member, so does this mean we are considered a DVC member for the week?

Technically renters are not eligible for the DVC member privileges.

That is correct, however, on your room key it will most likely say DVC member & they will probably give you a "packet" will all the DVC priveleges in it & pool hopping is one of them.

But, as was previously stated, not AKL or Stormalong Bay at the YC/BC.

Not really. You might be allowed in to the other pools with your room key, although they often also ask for your DVC member card, in which case you would be turned away.

I never knew pool hopping was not allowed and I have done it on every trip. I always bring a bating suit and go to which ever pool is closest during and afternoon break and no one has every told me it wasn't allowed.

That would be wonderful if we were allowed to go to the nearest pool for our afternoon break! But we have six children traveling with us, all under age 5 by the way, and I wouldn't be surprised if we were asked to provide some type of identifiaction or room key.

We will be very happy with the pools at OKW, but since they are not themed, we thought we could maybe try one with a slide or something more geared toward the little ones. Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach might be too much for us this trip, so we just wondred if we would have different pool options.

We will pack our swimsuits everyday and see where we end up!!

Then you've gotten very lucky. If you want to swim someplace, pay to stay at that resort. Some of the resorts with the nicely themed pools are too overcrowded with paying guests, which is why they now limit those pools to guests of that resort and in some cases DVC members. It's not fair to those paying hundreds of dollars a night to not be able to find a chair by the pool because of the "visitors" who just decide that they want to swim there because it's convenient or nicer than the pool at their resort. You pay for that conveneice when you stay at a monorail or Epcot area resort.

I have to agree with Anne!! If I am paying good money to stay at the Poly, I would like to be able to find a chair for myself and not have the pool overly crowded!!We stayed at BC last year, and they did check!!Just enjoy the pool at the resort in which you are staying!!!!!

Why should we pay lots of $$$$$$ to stay at a resort with a nice pool and then not be able to find a chair or have any space in and around the pool because of visitors who are not staying at the resort and are just visiting for free.

I think Pool Hopping is totally wrong, if you want to enjoy a specific resorts pool then pay to stay there don't make use of other people's priviliges if they have paid to stay there and you haven't.

Let's everyone give SpaceCommand a break - they indicated that they didn't realized that it wasn't allowed. Now that they know, I'd guess they probably won't do it any more.

Let's not assume the worst about people.

Years ago, pool hopping by any resort guest was allowed, but its been years since that was the case. I think about the time Disney really began expanding their hotel offerings and it became impossible for every CR resort guest to take an afternoon break in the Poly pool.

Anyone want to talk about refillable mugs, or maybe we could talk about putting 5 adults in a 4 person room?;)

The poster said he didn't know about the policy, give it a rest.

For that matter, many people have reported asking if they could swim at another resort for various reasons and Disney gave permission. If you have some reason that you'd like to pool hop, ask. If Disney says yes, it's okay. They make the rules, they can bend 'em whenever they want to.

I guess if Disney finds a pool to be too crowded, then they should check to verify that people using the pool, are indeed guests of tat resort!! :smooth:

I agree now if the forewarned person comes back and states regardless of the policy I will do it anyway, well let the remarks fly. :)

Honestly it used to not be a problem as did many things that have changed at Disney pool hopping, parking at monorail resorts, etc. As more and more people find out about these situations changes have been made to handle the crowd situation.

Until a few years ago we did not know that pool hopping was not allowed any more either. Imagine our surprise when they checked resort ID's & even though we were staying at a Disney resort we were told we couldn't swim at the WL pool. This was about 6 years ago. We were mortified. We didn't know they changed the policy. We have never done it again. :)

Anyway, last April we stayed at the CR. I saw many families coming out of the main building with bags in hand & head straight for the restrooms. They would come out in full swim gear, have a little swim, head back to the restrooms, come out fully clothed & back to the main building (I'm assuming to ride the monorail). I was a little annoyed because ID's were never checked while we were there, even though the pool area got quite crowded every day. Maybe I'm wrong & maybe they were staying in the Tower Rooms, but there were a lot of families that did this.

Anyway, I think some people still pool hop. Maybe some of them really don't know the rule, but I would think that others do. We certainly know now & won't be embarrassing ourselves again. :o

I am paying extra to stay at the Yacht Club and for the privilage of using Stormalong Bay. I really hope pool hopping is not allowed and believe me if I got wind of someone doing it while I was there I wouldn't hesitate to turn them in!!! Just my two cents!!!

I AGREE WITH POOL HOPING I THINK YOU SHOUL DWIM AT YOUR RESORT. WE WANT TO LOOK AT OTHER RESORTS WHIL WE ARE THERE,JUST WALK AROUND AND SEE IT, DO THEY ALLOW THIS? WE WANT TO CHECK OUT SOME DIFFERENT ONES FOR OUR NEXT TRIP. THANKS!:earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy:
