We're going to BoardWalk Villas this February and I was wondering if DVC members are allowed to pool hop. We like to visit other resorts and that means the kids get tempted to try the other pools. While the kids are swimming we get to check out the resorts.

Pool hopping is allowed for DVC members...the 2 exceptions are Storm-a-long Bay (sp?) at BCV and Uzima Pool at AKV, I think. There is no "hopping" allowed to these 2 pools. I also think I saw somewhere (DVC member site ?) that during certain peak dates, there is no pool hopping allowed to any pool (due to high occupancy). I belief the pool hopping perk extends to any WDW resort, not just DVC resorts....can anyone confirm?

Resort hotel pools may become unavailable from time to time because of capacity limitations. Due to expected high occupancy, Disney Vacation Club Members may not "pool hop" during the following dates*:
February 18 - 24, 2007
March 31 - April 8, 2007
May 25 - 28, 2007
June 30 - July 7, 2007
August 31 - September 3, 2007
November 19 - 25, 2007
December 16, 2007 - January 2, 2008
*Other restricted dates may be added based on projected pool capacity

here is the rest of the article
You and any Guests staying with you at Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Villas, The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Beach Club Villas or Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are permitted to use other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the Resort hotel at which you're staying) if they are not at capacity.

If the pool you are visiting reaches capacity, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that Resort hotel. Please check with a Host/Hostess at the Front Desk of the Resort hotel you wish to visit to find out about pool-access availability. You must present your current "Key to the World" card with your Disney Vacation Club "Member" designation on it to use other Resort hotel pools. Pool hopping is not available at Uzima Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts or at the leisure pools of these two Resort hotels. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Lots of people miss the part about:

You'll be able to pool hop with your resort ID that says DVC Member AND your blue member card - as long as it doesn't fall during President's Day weekend black out time.

Unless DVC decides to stop pool hopping to make it easier on us. ;)

Here is a question about pool hopping. I am clueless, because we never do it - but thought we might try it this trip.

Anyway, my husband and I are DVC members and are renting a studio for our family and another studio for another couple and their daughter. If we choose to pool hop one night - are our friends allowed to pool hop with us? They are not members, but are staying on our points - but not in the same room. But, we have scheduled Ohana dinner for Sunday night before extra magic hours. I thought it might be fun to go over a little early and let the girls swim before dinner. The adults can enjoy the view and a beverage...

Silly little gray area, but just thought I would ask. And - in case you are wondering - it will be in January - so it might be a moot point anyway! :)

Yes, by the language of the rule they can. Even though they're not in the same villa, they're still a guest staying with you. Their room key will say "DVC Member" on it just like yours.
