Pool Hopping - Walk or Water Taxi?

I'm thinking my daughter will want to check out the other pools during our stay at Royal Pacific. Would we do best to just walk from one resort to the other? Can we access the pool area with our room key? I'm looking at Google Maps, and it's just hard to tell if the walk is a doable one in the August heat. We'll have a car, but it seems silly to drive to the other resort's parking lot. Perhaps I'm wrong, though!

Easier to walk or take the boat.You can't use your room key at the other pools it won't work, but I am not sure what the process is though

We normally walk to Hard Rock from the parks after some water rides. We have lunch and use the pool. After that we will take the boat back to Citywalk. You have to get off there and get on the boat to RPR. It's very easy to do. If you are going to the pool only I would take the boat. When you get to another resort the only thing you need your key for is to get towels and if you order food. But all pools require a card normally so you can't run off without paying.

We will pool hop this Wednesday to HRH for lunch. Seaworld tomorrow.

That's brilliant. Thanks. I had just been thinking about how I plan to carry a small backpack around, but won't want to take it on the water rides. Now I have a plan for that! Sounds perfect.

DUMB question - the restaurants in City Walk are independent of Universal, right? So I'd need to have a credit card with me to pay for food there, rather than paying with my room key, correct?

You can use your hotel key just about everywhere at Universal Resort. We pay cash though.

The day you want to pool hop just throw on your suits, t shirts, and sandals/flip flops. Go to IOA in the am and hit some regular rides first. Then head to the water rides. Do the rides over and over. We also love standing in the splash zone at Jurassic Park. You can also go upstairs at camp Jurassic for some water canon fun too.

Then when you are all done walk out of IOA and over to HRH. Then get some towels and swim. We normally sit at the pool side bar call Beach Club. We will order some lunch then while waiting normally DS and I go swimming and use the slide. When lunch arrives DW will get us to eat. Just towel up and sit there in your suits enjoying yourselves. After pay the bill and we normally get some poolside chairs and swim for a while longer. Then take the boat back with exchange at Citywalk. Also if you tell the captain that you are going to RPR they sometimes will call ahead and hold the boat to RPR if your close.

Most important have fun. If you do it this way all you need is your hotel keys, express passes, and payment type. We put this into a ziplock bag to make it easy. You can take the towels back to RPR on the boat too.
