Pool Hopping -recommendations

There really aren't very many pools that I would take the time to hop to. They just aren't all that special. The Volcano Pool at the Polynesian is always over crowded...one reason I no longer stay there.
The pools at both CR and BLT are nothing great.

I just don't understand the pool hopping thing. Why spend all that time getting to and from a different pool?? I would much rather spend that time at my own pool. But, that's just me...lazy.

I have never pool hopped but I know we will never stay at the Poly so I would only hop there just to pretend I am a guest:lmao:

We stayed one night at BLT and I agree I did not like that pool especially after coming from AKL. I thought the pool was way too small.

We stayed one night at the BC too and though I liked the pool my DS6 thought it was much too deep and did not like it.

I think it has been said, but I'll say it again: the new Bay Lake Tower pool is nice for kids. Wilderness Lodge is still the best, in my opinion!

I think your memory of the pool at Coronado Springs is correct, it's a great pool. Most of the deluxe resort's pools are that large when you consider the size of the resorts.

Since you like to pool hop just make a list of the ones you haven't tried and go for it. I would double check the dates where pool hopping is suspended first before you make your plans.

Here are the dates through January 1, 2012. You can assume if it's around a holiday pool hopping is suspended.

February 20-26 (Sun – Sat)
April 16 – April 30 (Sat – Sat)
May 27 – 30 (Fri – Mon)
June 26 – July 5 (Sun – Tue)
September 2 – 5 (Fri – Mon)
November 21 – 27 (Mon – Sun)
Dec 11, 2011 – Jan 1, 2012 (Sun – Sun)

Have you ever thought about trying out a water park as a treat?

I am really surprised that pool hopping is allowed in July & August since it is so hot and the pools get a lot of use.

Also, I have seen a lot of people on these forums say no pool hopping!

Glad I researched better.

If you are not a DVC member staying on a DVC reservation at a DVC resort, you won't be pool hopping at all. And if the pool gets too busy in July and August, the DVC members may have to leave. It's all in our literature.

Forgive me, but I am confused so are only DVC members allowed to pool hop?

If you are a DVC member staying on a reservation booked with DVC points, then you can pool hop. You'll need your blue membership card to do so.

Not a DVC member or user. Just a guest at POFQ. Can I hop to certain pools during certain times of the year (End July)?

No, you can only use the pools at POR and POFQ, since they are sister resorts.

Oh this makes my blood boil!

I had a friend, term used loosely, whose family stayed at Pop for 6 nights.

She loves telling the story of how for 4 days (2 days @ MK 2 days @ EPCOT) they spent their vacation as Poly guests for the cost of Pop.

Apparently the family would pack beach bags and leave them in the car at the TTC than take the monorail to MK and EPCOT. During afternoon brake take the monorail back to their car, walk to the Poly use their facilities for a few hours drop there stuff off back at the car and hit the park again. Apparently there are changing rooms or something they used.

She also told me about how she got AAA diamond parking so walking to the car to grab the bag was not an issue. What ever that is. Sure she weaseled her way into that as well.

Needless to say I had to pick my jaw up off the floor after that story..

I still to this day have no idea how Disney allowed this to happen....

So i followed-up with my friend about using the pool at the Poly for 4 days. I'm sure she was wondering why I was asking since it was a while back. But anyway, apparently her husband is a college buddy of the Poly GM and he/she "hooked them up"

One of those cases in life when it's not what you know, but who you know.

Sad part is, they could actually afford the Poly with out hesitation. But according to her, it was their first visit to Disney as a family and didn't want to blow the entire vacation budget on that one trip in case they didn't enjoy it.

So they also did a cruise a few months later..

How can you not enjoy Disney...

I agree!!!

I agree!!!

Huh. We hopped to CSR's pool from OKW, and it took almost no time. Took more time to walk from the parking lot to the pool than to get to the parking lot. And apart from the love bugs, it was wonderful!

I love OKW but don't love their pool or slide; would MUCH rather go swim at Boardwalk instead, and the time it takes to get there isn't even a consideration or a reason not to. Since WDW's property is bigger than my town, it's just like driving over to a pool across town. That's not a big deal at home, and it's not a big deal at WDW. :)
