Pool comparison: Royal Pacific and Hard Rock

Can someone explain the differences of the pools a the Royal Pacific and Hard Rock Hotels? How deep are the pools? Which one is best?

It really depends on the ages of your group. We stayed at RPR and the pool was nice but we liked HRH pool better. The pool at HRH was only about 3 1/2 feet at its deepest which was nice because our 5 yr old son could touch in all places plus the slide was a lot of fun. RPR does not have a slide but has a water area for the kids to spray each other, etc. RPR has water volleyball which was not important to us. Both had hot tubs by the pool.

How deep is the pool at the Royal Pacific? Do they have a section that is zero-entry?

RPR has zero entry. It is a lovely pool and if I remember correctly it is deeper than 31/2 feet. You'll definately enjoy it!

They both have zero entry pools and are both nice but we just liked the HRH pool better for my son at his current age (5). He could freely swim and usually I dont leave him in the pool without being in with him but at one point at HRH he met two boys and was playing with them while I sat in the hot tub. I could still see him and wasnt as concerned because he could touch at all areas of the pool. I dont know the exact depth of RPR but I remember seeing a sign for 4 1/2 feet on one point.

I liked that Royal Pacific's pool had deeper areas than HRH's. The kids like the slide but also had plenty of fun with the water play area. Cabanas are more plentiful at HRH if thats a consideration. The food and drinks were very good at both pools. They both have dive in movies. HRH's pool has underwater speakers that play music.

Don't forget you can pool hop.

We were not crazy about the shallow depth of the Hard Rock pool. (DS #2 is 6'3" tall), and my kids are older, all teens. To be honest as an adult, I found it hard to swim in such a shallow pool.

We did not get to try the Royal Pacific pool 2 years ago, we arrived on the day the first hurricane hit Orlando, in August. Pool was closed for the 2 days we were there.

HRH has a slide, though my kids didn't like it. We prefer the pool at RPR- it's larger, deeper, and has a great water play area for kids. It also has a great beach to lounge on. I like the underwater speakers at the HRH, but that's not enough to make me like it better than the RPR pool.

My kids ages 9 and 6 got borded very quickly by the RPR pool. They absolutely loved the HRH pool with waterslide and underwater music. I personally liked them both. I think the best pool is the PBH pool, it has white sand and a nice waterslide. My boys were entertained longer there than at the other two.

I agree with cvjw. DH & I like the PBH pool much better, but our DS(14) likes the one at HRH better. It's more of a happenin' place to be. We spent 4 nights at RPR 2 yrs. ago, & didn't like the resort as well as the others. One of the reasons was that we didn't like their pool. We felt it catered to the pre-K crowd. Don't get me wrong, the age of the kids didn't bother us. We just felt the pool was boring for anyone who was older than 5 or had a child that age.

.....I was just wanting to ask about this.

We are planning to stay at RPR this summer...Are we allowed to swim at the other 2 resorts as well? I guess my main ?' are....Is "pool hopping" a discouraged practice at Universal? OR Do the hotels allow it?

Pool hopping is most definitely encouraged at the 3 on site hotels. We always spend at least one day enjoying the pools areas that we arent booked at that trip. On certain evevnings each pool has a Dive in movie thats lots of fun! We like it best at HRH. Have fun hopping

How do you figure that? The RPR is the largest of all the resort pools and has more deck space and more chairs.
