Not sure if you mean chairs or chaise lounge and if you mean near easy entry (i.e. zero entry) because of small kids, etc . Most of the time the chairs aren't close to the water since they are at tables but there are some. It's mostly chaise lounges.
At SSR, depends on which pool you mean. It can range anywhere form the main pool that can get pretty crowded to The Grandstand pool that usually isn't crowded in times I saw it in summer. We have gone to the Grandstand Pool at times to stay away from the crowds.
At AKL Jambo, Azima Pool only has a smaller front row chaise lounges (maybe 8) at the zero entry point. There are others around the pool and more off the pool. For the most part the table and chairs are by the bar and Mara quick service. Sometimes if you walk around he "back" side of the pool, you might find some open seats. You also have the option of going to the pool a Kidani but it is not really less crowded and is smaller (still has slide and nice kids water area though).
There is a lot of leave a towel try to save seat for later going on but to me it seemed like the last few visits workers were doing a better job of removing stray towels.
At 3:30-4:00 you might also catch people leaving to get ready for dinner. I know we usually pool break in the 1:00-4:00 range.
Have fun on your stay. We love long stays and have done 2 weeks a few times and 16 days once. It's a little more relaxing, slower paced and gives more chance to call audibles on the fly.
