Poncho on Kali?

I will never understand why people go on a water ride designed to get you wet, then wear a poncho so they won't get wet. Defeats the purpose of the ride:confused3 If I don't want to get wet while at AK, I just don't ride Kali that day. JMO

I go on it because I love the ride, it's probably one of my favorites. That doesn't mean I love getting soaked to the skin and if a poncho will keep me dry why not wear one? The ride is still a lot of fun.

My stance on this is very simple(call me a wimp if you want:) )...

If I want to get wet, I'll go swimming in a pool or stand in the rain. The good news about my strategy is that I don't have to stand in line to get wet. I don't have any interest in touring the parks in any state of wetness(shirt, shorts or shoes) nor do I want to waste park touring time going back and forth to a locker in order to change.

Splash mountain is not as bad, but I saw some people come off the ride with wet clothes which looked very uncomfortable.

Just my 2 cents.

I'll collect the 2 cents (no checks, please), but...

This thread is not about forcing people to ride Kali (or even SUGGESTING that they SHOULD).

The poster asked about if those choosing to ride can wear (or might need) a poncho or other protection from wetness.

And Arid Extra Dry® won't quite 'cut it' on Kali.

Point taken. Just a semi-related opinion as far as my feeling on getting wet goes(which they will get if not wearing a poncho). :)

Kali gets you wet but in my experience not as wet as the Ripsaw Falls at US IOA

I agree with the person who WANTS to get drenched. My sister and I love this ride and will often go on several times in a row and will try to guess who will end up in the "drenching spot". It seems to me it's the person who is facing backwards on the largest hill. Last trip we rode three times in a row(September, so it was still hot and not crowded) and I was in that spot all 3 times...Yes, I looked like a drowned rat but being that it was 85 degrees out, I dried off within a half hour. I also tend to wear clothes that dry quickly when I know we're going to AK. I don't really dress up at all when going to the parks-I don't look like a slob, but I've found that my gym wear seems to work well. Also, what's Body Glide?

My daughter and I wore ponchos last August AND were in the "drenching spot". We still got our bottoms wet - I guess we didn't adjust our ponchos when we sat down! However, because my daughter wore jean shorts that day, I would strongly suggest to NOT wear jeans or jean shorts if you go on this ride. They took a long time to dry - even in August - and her thighs got "chafe" (sp?). I did put my backpack in one of those huge ziplock bags and was glad I did!

I'm again sort of with the people who say if you really don't want to get wet, don't go on this ride. Even a poncho isn't 100% protection. If getting wet is going to ruin your day, then maybe the ride isn't worth going on.
This brings me back to my suggestion - wear a bathing suit under your clothes and wear the right clothes if you want to go on this ride and you'll be fine. I'd never go on this ride wearing denim.
Personally, I've gotten wet on Kali, but not totally drenched. I did however get rather drenched on a similar ride at another amusement park. Since I was wearing a suit under my clothes, and the weather was dry, getting dry again was no big deal.

But hey, to each his own.:hippie:
