Pompano to MCO which road?

Hi,

We're driving from Pompano to Boardwalk and was wondering which road is better I-95 or the toll road, omg just forgot the name. I'm thinking the toll road is better but someone mentioned that there is construction going on. Also we are leaving at 7am so rush hour traffic might be a problem. I'm trying to convince DH to leave the night before so we have a fresh start to the day.

From Pompano Beach to WDW, you pretty much are going to pay a toll regardless of which road you take, unless you stick to the back roads--not suggested.

The most direct would be get on the FL Turnpike at exit 69 and head North to exit 249 onto the Osceola Parkway. From there go West and you'll literally end up in WDW. The car toll is just under $30. It's a 70 mph speed limit most of the way, with plenty of clean rest areas.

You could take I-95 part of the way North, around the Port St. Lucie area make your way over to the Turnpike to save on tolls, although it's not quite as direct.

You could also get on Route 27 and take the scenic route, up past Lake Okechobee, and jump on I-4 around Davenport, or stay on 27 all the way to Four Corners and then get on to 192 Eastbound which takes you directly to WDW.

Of course you could take Route 1 or A1A to the Port Canveral area, then hop on the Beeline to get there, but that would be a long trip through a lot of small shore towns.

I'd take the Turnpike.

Folrida Turnpike is your best, fastest and most expensive option.
But on the plus side it is a lovely ride with nothing but flat land for as far as the eye can see. WE make the trip a least once per year, go turnpike it is about 3 hours

I think my dad would disagree He and my step-mom drove up from Pompano Beach the day after Thanksgiving to spend the day with us in WDW. He had planned on a drive of about 3 hrs...he's done it before, so wasn't concerned. Well, it seems that everyone from SE Florida decided to go to WDW at the same time. It took him 4 1/2 hrs to even get to WDW and then he got all discombobulate somehow and just couldn't find his way to BWV. I had told him to look for the signs that said Epcot Resorts but he kept ending up at Epcot. He ended up in that parking lot 4 times!!! And then he kept getting onto the Florida Turnpike. After about 1 1/2 hrs. of looking for us he told my step-mom that if he ended up on the FT one more time he was just going to head south!!! Finally a CM told him how to get to MGM and they called us from their cell phone and we talked them in. Only took almost 6 hrs to get there..they were a wee bit frazzled. We wanted to spend some time the next day with them but Dad said..."NO, we're going back to our hotel room, sleeping, eating breakfast and going HOME!!"

Well, not to make fun of my dad, but...he is rapidly losing his hearing also. It's about 80% gone in one ear and 100% in the other. So, he askes for directions, doesn't let on that he can't hear, says..okay, got it..and off they go...with my step-mom yelling in his 'good' ear...'He said left at the lights Bill, left!!! No, the other way Bill!' she has a heart of gold but man, she sure adds to the problem. And to top it off, she once got lost in the area she grew up in!!! Dad had to go rescue her since she just couldn't remember how to get to her girlfriends house. And no, there wasn't a 'dementia' issue..that's just her way!!! OMG!!!

Have a question. Where is Pompano Beach exactly at? I work for comcast and may transf down there. How is the cost of the surrounding areas for housing ? And how far is Pompano from Disney? Thanks

Pompano is about a 3 hr. (normally!!) drive from Orlando. It is on the SE coast, between Ft. Lauderdale and Palm Beach. We really enjoyed visiting down there. In fact, dh thinks that Florida might be a good place to move to when dd gets out of school. He's already likeing those early bird specials!!

That's about as much info as I could provide as well, I really don't know the area at all, although there's a Legal Seafoods (One of my favorite restaurants!) in Sawgrass mall in Sunrise, just around the corner
