Major DISbride slacker here reporting for duty! MY DRESS IS IN! They called yesterday and said it has arrived so hopefully I'll find time to go try it on later this week and will post some pics:banana::banana: Really not too much more going on in the planning department. I've been working on a newsletter to send out sometime in the near future. After I see the dress again I'll start looking for jewelry and shoes:cool1: I am going to see my parents in Dec and will look for shells for the rings, etc. Thanks for sticking with me- I figure at about a year out I'll resume the planning full speed ahead!

Woo HOO for your dress!:goodvibes

I was wondering where you've been!!!! I'm so glad you're back! And WOOHOO!!! Your dress is in! When can we see piccys!?!?!

Hey Adelia! Remember me...your fellow Twin Cities Disney fanatic?

Well, I haven't been on here in forever, but it looks like I have 30 pages of your PJ to read! Yay...looking forward to it!

As for me, still no ring on my finger.....we decided to buy a house instead and now we're happily broke.

I'm excited to see how yours goes first! So excited for you and your DF!

Yay for the dress. I agree with Katie, we want piccys!!! :)
Don't worry I will make you all look at way too many pics of me in my dress:rotfl:

OMG Chrissy! :woohoo: I always wondered what happened to you:confused3 Glad you're still around! Sorry no ring yet but a house:banana::banana::banana:Congrats! We would love a house but with all the money being saved for the wedding and honeymoon looks like we'll be waiting awhile for that! I guess a girl can't have it all... atleast not all at once:sad2: Hope you find the time to follow along a little and I can't wait til you start planning yours!

So now that you're back are there any new developments?! How have things been with you and ryan?

we missed ya girlie!

Oh Adelia! I saw you posted and thought maybe we got to see your dress again :(

No pics yet but I'll post a dress update below so stay tuned... I promise pics soon.

Awww, I missed you guys too! Not really any new developments just minor new ideas but I've been trying not to get too wedding obsessed lately bc I just end up driving myself nuts!!! Ryan and I are doing really well, we're on TOTALLY opposite schedules is the only thing. I guess we've always been on opposite schedules (I'm nights and he's days) but now we're at different hospitals so we don't even get to run into each other in the hallway as I'm coming and he's going:rotfl: Only 10 more months til he graduates though:goodvibes

Is sitting in waiting for dress pics! :surfweb:
Argh no dress pics yet- sorry but I did go try it on...

So a little minor dress drama... WARNING YOU ARE ABOUT TO EXPERIENCE AN OVERTIRED BRIDEZILLA MOMENT
So I worked an extra shift Thursday night 11p-7a bc I wanted a little overtime money to help pad the wedding fund. I knew I wouldn't get much sleep on Friday but this is the story of my life. So Friday morning I couldn't really fall asleep bc I was soooooo excited thinking about my dress:banana: I had a hair appt at 2 pm so decided I would wake up early and go try on my dress before that. So by the time I called to set up the appt and managed to fall asleep it was almost 10 and my alarm was set for 11:30 to go try on my dress! 1.5 hours, that's plenty of sleep right?

So I bounce out of bed, quick wash my face, throw my hair in a pony tail and head to Macy's. They bring in my dress and I am soooo excited, as the open the bag it looks just beautiful- it looks so teeny tiny in my size and I can see the buttons along the zipper and I LOVE them:lovestruc So I climb in the dress zip it up and immediately look to see the back... since it's my favorite part and- :scared1:THEY PUT BUTTONS ALL THE WAY DOWN THE TRAIN!!!!!!!! This is not what we talked about! The buttons were supposed to go down the zipper to the end on where the materials gathers and then STOP just before the train starts:sad2: The sales lady is all oooohhhing and aaaaahhhhhhing and all I could say was... "Oh they put buttons all the way down the train, it's just not what I was expecting" and she made some comment like "Looks like you got a good deal then with all those extra buttons"- not the point lady. So I tried to look at the rest of the dress but think I was just so disappointed because I didn't get that FEELING when I put it on like I was expecting. The buttons just really threw me and I think that I was really just overtired so everything just seemed off. It's just such a fitted dress and just a few things being off just made it not feel right. Thinking back I think it actually fit okay, it is still WAY too long (which I expected) but that just made it not lay quite right. I thought it made my butt look kinda flat or fat or SOMETHING. It fit really good around my ribs but the bust will need some adjustments. I really should have asked for a pair of heels so I could get a better idea but I just couldn't get past the buttons:lmao:

I was wishing I had brought my original receipt with me because it had said exactly what I had ordered but I hadn't... but thinking about the receipt I was pretty sure it had said "buttons as per original design" which they had told me was just to the start of the train... why didn't I have them put that in writing:headache: I think the sales lady (who I found out is also the manager) noticed I was upset about the buttons and told me that they could remove them when they do the alterations- but didn't mention at what cost. So when I was checking out I clarified and she said the receipt did say "buttons as per original design" and that she didn't know what that meant but that they would take care of the cost of removing the buttons.

I had my camera with me but was trying so hard not to have a total bridezilla freak out in the store that I didn't even ask to get pics. I didn't freak out in the store but I called my mom on the way home and almost started crying. :lmao:They're just buttons for goodness sake:lmao: but I think I was just so disappointed I didn't get that magical feeling when I tried it on:sad1: I just kept thinking "Why did I spend so much money on a dress that didn't give that magical feeling?" and "Maybe I should have gotten a traditional poofy dress instead of a fitted dress that's going to show all my flaws?":rotfl: The moral of the story is that I never should have gone when I was so tired:sad2: I am going to see if I can go back on Monday and arrange to meet with the alterations lady and have those buttons taken off and get an estimate on what alterations will cost and see if the can help me envision more of what the shape of the bottom of the dress will look like once it's altered- and I promise to get pictures then:thumbsup2

It sounds like the manager is trying to make things right...which is good. I'm sorry it wasn't the dress u expected. There was an episode on "Say Yes To The Dress" and the bride had a similar freak out...but over the fact that the dress wasn't swooshy and soft like it was when she tried it on. The sales lady had to explain that the dress she tried on has been tried on by a number of people and that is what softened the lace and stuff. YOUR dress has decoration that needs to be removed-totally different than "it's not swooshy enough." In the end, the girl in the TV show had a wonderful wedding and was very happy with her dress. Like I said, it sounds to me that the manager wants to make it right. Thats the important part.

You're nto the only woman who has purchased a dress and didn't get back what you expected. When I picked up my dress, I was talking to the sales woman about it and she that happened to her once and that she had to pull the sales slip and show the bride, then pull the original dress that she tried on...The sales woman said it flipped her out...SHE was nervous...It all worked out in the end.

You're dress will be perfect. :wizard:

Oh, I am so sorry you felt that way! This makes me worry, since my dress is coming in only 2 months before my wedding...not much time to fix it!!!

Anyway, I totally bet a lot of it was lack of sleep! If I was on 1.5 hours of sleep, and won the lottery, I would still find something to be depressed about :rotfl:

I'm sure everything will be fine!

Oh that is a litle disapointing but like you said...they are just buttons ;) AND it sounds like the manager is taking care of it right:thumbsup2 It will be ok and you dress will be just as gorgeous as you remember! Hang in there

That's a shame you didn't get that magical feeling but i'm sure when it fits right and your more awake it'll be perfect.

Thanks for the support! There could be a LOT worse things than a few extra buttons! I know it will be fine in the end!

Thanks- you're right the lack of sleep was really the problem. I tried it on again and all is fine- I'll post pics in a second:banana: Don't worry about your dress, it will be perfect! And even if there is something wrong it is always fixable:thumbsup2

Oh that is a litle disapointing but like you said...they are just buttons ;) AND it sounds like the manager is taking care of it right:thumbsup2 It will be ok and you dress will be just as gorgeous as you remember! Hang in there
Thanks Mandy! I went back today with my best friend and a good 8 hours of sleep under my belt and all is just as perfect as I remember!

That's a shame you didn't get that magical feeling but i'm sure when it fits right and your more awake it'll be perfect.
The magic is back! All it was missing was some sleep:lmao: Pics below! Thanks for the support!

So today I made sure I got plenty of sleep last night and armed myself with my best friend and went back to visit my dress! We went out for lunch first as well since I'm just like a baby I have to be well rested and fed:lmao:
I met with the alterations lady and all is well!:thumbsup2 The extra buttons will be off by the end of the week. My friend assured me that even though it hangs a little funny bc it is so long that my butt looks perfect in it:rotfl:
The alterations lady said the alterations should be "pretty easy". I need ALOT of length off the bottom which unfortunately will take off some of the flare at the bottom of the gown (they can't take it up from the waist bc of the rouching in the back)... however they need to take it in a little in the hips and thighs so that will help to recreate the right shape. Then I just need it taken in a little in the shoulders and a bra and it should be PERFECT! She said that the "average" cost of alterations is $450 but that mine will probably be less bc the lines are simple and there aren't tons of layers like most dresses, but she said the bustle will be tricky- she said I'll need a french bustle but I have no idea what that means:confused3 I'm going to budget $500 for alterations I think. Without further delay here is my dress:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Here is the portion of the buttons that I do like:

Here you can tell that it doesn't fit quite right through the hips:

Here you can tell how much extra material there is... the extra buttons even get lost:lmao:

That's it! So what do you ladies think? I think with alterations and a nice tan:rotfl2: it will be perfect!

you look gorgeous in it! I think once it's all taken in it will be perfect. :goodvibes I agree a french bustle is definitely what you want for that dress. They are more expensive than a regular bustle. Basically instead of the train being picked up and hung on a button the train is folded under itself, if you google it you can see what I mean, it's really hard to describe, but I think that's the way to go.

Oh honey!!! It looks amazing!!! I agree that i think the buttons need to come off after the zipper but it looks like it'll all be taken care of!

You're going to be such a stunning bride!
