PolynesianBride'sPJ 12/6/10 Sunset Pointe- TEASER PICS UP!

That place you guys picked for your at home reception is so cute and different!! :goodvibes Very cute!

Your planning session should be lots of fun! I think it would be really cute if you guys did an engagement shoot while you're visiting WDW! Wish I could give you suggestions on where else might be a good spot. :guilty:

There seriously is too many food places to choose from! DF and I are already trying to hash out where to dine on our disneymoon out there! :rotfl: So if any of the places you guys try out are outstanding, do let me know! :rolleyes1

Oh! And I hope you get to do a cake test taste!

I'm so jelouse!!! I wish i could talk DF into going down before the wedding for a PS! You're going to have to be my taste buds and let me know which cake flavors are the best!

I think its a good idea to go and do an encore engagement shoot with Misty. Make sure you take lots and lots of pictures during the PS so i can live through you! hahaha

HURRY UP APRIL!

Trip Planning for April 3-10

Resort Drama
Anyone know which way is best?

Dining Drama
We definately love our sit-down meals at Disney and are starting to hammer out where we want our ADR's. Here's what we're thinking so far:
*Ohana's (we've eaten here before but want to check it out again b4 the wedding)
The rest of these we have never been to before-
*Mickey's Backyard BBQ
*Cape May- for dinner the have a clam bake and I LOVE seafood
*Jiko (but talking about maybe switching this for Donald's Safari Breakfast since we don't have any breakfast ressies)
*50's Prime Time Cafe
*LeCellier or Narcooses (I just can't decide on this one- whichever we don't do we'll do on the wedding trip so:confused3)

Wedding Planning while at WDW
we should so an engagement shoot with Misty:banana: Now I realize I've already done "engagement pics" and I love them but I mainly want to do it because I think it would help DF and I feel more comfortable in front of the camera and with Misty on our wedding day. What do you guys think? Is it worth it? I also don't know where we would do them... I've thought about Poly since we obviously love it there but then again all of our wedding pics will be there so maybe we should mix it up a bit???? A lot of people use Boardwalk area but neither DF or I have really been over there so I'm not sure:confused:

I also really want to do some cake tasting while we're down there..but I won't turn down any opportunity to eat CAKE!!!!

I wish I could help with your resort dilemma...unfortunately (especially with the ecomony) it is really hard to predict what will be best. Nowadays, I would normally say wait b/c there are so many deals going on, but since it's a holiday week...boy it would make me research and watch prices for a short while and then book as soon as something is reasonable. I know...$160...God for a value IS NOT reasonable. But considering the time of year sometimes you have to bite the bullet. Esp. b/c they NEVER have florida resident discounts that week (which you could pull off since your 'rents are in Naples). :confused3 Darn...usually I'm the queen of good rates, but Easter is really difficult on property.

I do agree that you should go to Ohana...it'll make you feel reassured. :) I have 2 suggestions...take em or leave em...it's all good :goodvibes -- Have you been to 50's prime time before? If not, go for lunch..it's just as good & a little cheaper. I've heard Cape May Cafe is great; if you love seafood also think about Flying Fish. If you don't want the full "restaurant thing" sit at the chef's counter; not only is the food superb, but the service is great as well. Maybe for your honeymoon since you've got a lot of ADR's picked for April! Oh, and Le Cellier vs. Narcoossee's...I consider Le Cellier a "heavier meal" (excellent, but heavier), so based on that I like Narcoossee's better, but it depends on the plans: Epcot or MK. I'd wait until closer to the trip to make the final decision. (again, just my opinion...)

You've got beautiful e-pics, but I can understand wanting to feel comfortable with your photog. If only we'd had that opportunity (we had DPS so we only had a phone convo w/ our main photog Joe)! I think it'd be great...esp hitting up other resorts for it. You'll get a totally different vibe than your wedding! (and obviously I vote for the BW :rotfl:)

Good luck with the cake tasting. Too bad you won't be down in December b/c we'll be getting another "top" layer for our anniversary and am sure we'd have PLENTY to share!!! :goodvibes

Adelia,

Ok, caught up again!!! I love, love, love the place for your at home reception!!! It looks so awesome!! The food looked great too!! It's funny that DF's family is from Flint, MI, I grew up in Royal Oak, MI, which is outside of Detroit, I don't think Flint is that far away from there!! Ok, I will definitely have to try that drink that you were talking about....I hate beer, so anything that doesn't taste like beer is good to me!! Here is a stupid question though-how do you pronounce that?? Do they have it at most bars?

As far as booking your Disney trip goes: I have always booked everything directly through Disney. I found that there weren't that many great discounts through AAA and I like dealing with Disney directly. When we went to Disney last Dec. we had the whole thing booked and mostly paid for, and then I got something in the mail about free dining, so I called back and we saved $800!!! They just took it off our total price that we owed!!!! So there are definitely some pluses to booking with Disney directly, I don't know if you had it booked through AAA if they could have done that...Your dining plan restaurants sound yummy!!! I am a big fan of the DP, we get it everytime we go!! I remember when they had appetizers too, but I have found that even without the appetizers we were filled up, plus alot of times you can get fruit or something besides an actual dessert with the CS. I have never eaten at Cape May..where is that? 50's Prime time cafe is good, it is fun if you have never been there....if you have the DP, it wouldn't matter if you go for lunch or dinner cause it is 1 TS...As far as LeCellier or Narcoosees...I have never been to Narcoosees, so you will have to tell me how it is!! Le Cellier is excellent!!! We have been there for lunchtime and dinner, both times it has been really good...

I think that is a good idea to have the engagement pics done with MIsty...I will probaby look into that now for us....any clue how much she charges for engagement pics??? Another place that is really pretty for pics is the WL....

I will have to remember that drink that you said at Ohana's as we are eating there in October....the LapuLapu...what's in it?? It sounds yummy!!

We are doing engagment pics with Randy for the very same reason. We want to meet him and be comfortable with him before the actual wedding. We don’t really “need” engagement pics. I am also having my hair trial at the time. Mostly because my hair is short and I need to decide if I can leave it as is or grow it out more. We picked the Boardwalk because #1 we love it, but #2 our wedding is at the WP, so we will get plenty of pictures during the wedding by the GF and Poly. We wanted somewhere a bit different.

Oh and the cake thing. When we were planning an escape we decided to buy a cake to taste the flavor we thought we would use. You have to buy a 10” to get the flavor you want (not sure if the Poly is the same), and it was HUGE. It was however, one of the best cakes I have EVER had in my life!!
I really want to do pics at the Boardwalk but DF is pulling the veto card again- says he would rather use the money for something "more fun"- what's more fun than pics that we can have forever???? As for the cake... yum what flavor did you get for your trial cake?
Love the location for the home reception! Looks very cool...I wish we had some place like that here...
I can't wait to see your e-pics with Misty!
I'm glad you're getting a hair trial...Can't wait to see those too!!! Hurry up April and get here!!!
Hurry April hurry fast!!!!! I get to go to Disney AND book my wedding FINALLY!

Glad it helped! And yeah, what a difference having it fitted to your body and not just a sample- you're gonna be SOO happy! Initially she sewed cups into the dress, but the "push-up" that the cups gave basically made me feel like I was gonna fall out of the dress, so at the 2nd fitting we took them out. (I just wore those silicone flower petal covers so even if the dress moved I didn't give a free show!) Obviously, yes she will sew in whatever you need so you won't have to wear a bra.

Don't worry about calling Tie the Knot...I've been meaning to stop in and say hi anyway, so I'll try to get it this week.
:lmao:don't want to fall out on your wedding day:lmao: I wish my dress would get here already so I know what alterations I'm gonna need:confused:

I hope they let you do the cake tasting.
I just wanna eat cake.... LOTS AND LOTS of cake!!!! I've spent so many hours dreaming about cake I would hate to pick a flavor and not think it was to die for on my wedding day:sad2:

That place you guys picked for your at home reception is so cute and different!! Very cute!

Your planning session should be lots of fun! I think it would be really cute if you guys did an engagement shoot while you're visiting WDW! Wish I could give you suggestions on where else might be a good spot.

Oh! And I hope you get to do a cake test taste!
You are going to have sooooo much fun on your honeymoon! There are soooo many yummy restaurants- all the food is one of my favorite parts of WDW... don't worry I'll be doing a full review of all our meals complete with lots of food porn!

Right now the engagement shoot is a no go:sad2: DF just isn't going for it:mad:- but I had no trouble talking him into the trip so I can't complain too much:goodvibes But have no fear- you'll have lots of pics from my handy dandy el crapo camera so you can live vicariously through my unofficial planning trip:lmao:

I wish I could help with your resort dilemma...unfortunately (especially with the ecomony) it is really hard to predict what will be best. Nowadays, I would normally say wait b/c there are so many deals going on, but since it's a holiday week...boy it would make me research and watch prices for a short while and then book as soon as something is reasonable. Thanks for all the advice... VERY helpful. I had never really heard of flying fish until the boards and think we will definately check it out during the honeymoon. We are doing dining plan so lunch vs dinner doesn't really matter price wise as it all is 1 TS credit. I'll post all our dining plan changes in a bit and I'm sad bc Narcooses is out now too (bc it would be 2 TS credits since it's sigature) but DF promises Flying Fish and Narcooses for the honeymoon:banana: Oh and what flavor will you be having for your anniversary layer?

Hey Maure! I didn't know you grew up in MI- even more that we have in common:thumbsup2 Flint is probably just 1 hour north of Royal Oak and where I grew up (Midland) is just about 45 min north of there! Small world!

I think we are going to do the dining plan- it's just so much easier and from what I read online it looks like some of the restaurants actually raise their prices during holidays too so I don't want to have to suffer "sticker shock" each time we go to eat:lmao: Cape May is at the Beach Club- we've never even been in that area before so I don't know any more than that but here's the menu: http://allears.net/menu/menu_cmc.htm I think it looks so yummy! We've decided on LeCellier for this trip since it's 1 TS and Narcooses is 2:confused: but hopefully we'll go there on the honeymoon:woohoo:

Misty's engagement shoots are kinda pricey IMO... it looks like it will be $300 for the CD only package... I'll post all the details below. I still want to do it but DF thinks the money could be better spent else where:guilty:

I don't know for sure how to pronounce the full name of that drink:lmao: I also just call it Lambic (pronounced Lam-bick)and people know what I'm talking about:lmao: I've only seen it on tap one other place (which was in FL) which is why I was so excited to find it in MI at the place I wanted my reception at:woohoo: Your best bet would probably be to check a liquor store, it comes in what looks like a wine bottle and has foil at the top.

As for the Lapu Lapu it's a drink at the poly that comes in a pineapple- I've never had it but found a pic of pineapple drinks and thought I just had to have them for the wedding... come to find out Ohana's has them. Mandy was sweet enough to post the recipe on page 10 of my PJ- you should check it out! (P.S. I swear I'm not an alcoholic... for some reason my PJ is just filled with booze:rotfl2::drinking1:rotfl2:)

I think I'm the only disbride who is so bad that I get behind on my own PJ:lmao: Not a ton of wedding stuff going on but here's a few updates:

Family Drama
What's a good PJ without some good family drama? So we met up with DF's family again (this time at Mackinac Island- back in MI) and apparently one of his grandma's is being stupid about the wedding. It's his paternal grandmother and apparently she told his mom that she didn't think she would be able to come to the wedding bc she wouldn't be able to find anyone to watch her dog:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::rotfl2::lmao: Luckily DF and his family find this as funny as I do so it cuts down on the drama:laughing: We decided maybe we could understand this reasoning if it was next weekend but really it's OVER A YEAR out!!!!- hasn't she ever heard of boarding a dog either? Whatever, DF and his dad both said they would ideally like her to be there but in the end if she doesn't come it's her choice and then my FSIL can come to the ceremony:banana: We decided that if she mentions not being able to come anymore we'll just tell her we understand that not everyone can make it and that's why we're having a reception back in MI- his mom thinks she thinks she may be doing it for the drama of it all so we're just not encouraging the drama by acting like it's no big deal. In the end they think she will end up coming but if not I'm not going to sweat it.

Misty Engagement Pics
As I mentioned in my previous post DF is boycotting this idea based on the $ factor. Misty's engagement sessions are 2 hours each and she only offers them on Mondays. On the website it also says she won't confirm the session til 3 weeks in advance (I'm guessing this is in case she gets an opportunity to do a wedding that day and make more money). She offers 2 packages, one with some prints for $600 and a CD only package for $400- now if you have her booked for the wedding she gives you a 25% discount but the photo only option would still be $300. It just seems like a lot of money for something we don't really need (but I still want to do it.) It's just annoying to know I could request my date now and have my heart set on it and then 3 weeks before we go find out we won't be able to the pics (there's only one Monday we'll be at Disney). Has anyone done engagment pics with Misty? Was this a problem? I'm thinking about e-mailing her just to find out a little more info. If we do end up doing them I think we would definately do Boardwalk, all the pics I've seen there are so cute:love:

April Trip Planning
So we've been watching prices for April and they aren't budging at all, we got a quote from AAA too and it was only $30 less than booking directly with Disney. AAA did say if any offer was released they would be able to credit it to our reservation. DF really likes to book with AAA because that's who he's always gone through but I don't really see what the benefit is:confused3 Right now AAA has it on "hold" for us, I'll probably decide on Monday and book either through Disney or AAA.

We did decide to go for the dining plan. Even though I think we could maybe eat for cheaper if we didn't it's just convenient to know it's all paid for before we go... plus it seems like some restaurants raise their prices for the holidays and I'd rather have "sticker shock" from the overall price before we go than to freak out everytime we go to eat bc it's more than I thought it would be:scared1: We did decide to only eat at places that are 1 table service credit though so we can get as many meals out of it as possible... which means no dinner shows or signature restaurants:sad2: So the new ADR's we're planning on are:
Joint Picks
Ohanas
Cape May
Donald's Safari Breakfast
My Pics
Biergarten
LeCellier
DF's Picks
Whispering Canyon
50's prime time cafe

I've heard it rumored that Disney is going back to 180 day ADR's on Oct 27 so I have to double check but I think we should be able to make them all at that time (along with the rest of the world trying to make them that day too:eek:) The only downside to the 180 days ADR's is I don't think they'll have released the park hours by then and we always plan our schedule out based on Magic Hours... I guess we'll just have to wing it:confused3

Yes they are going back to 180 days for ADRs :confused3

I'd be annoyed with Misty if I was cancelled for a wedding. She either takes the booking or she doesn't in my opinion.

The Grandma drama makes me laugh! I would take that any day! I"m further convinced that there isn't a disney wedding out there that hasn't had some sort of drama no matter how simple.

The e-pic thing with Misty is strange. Why would she do that? I understand that she would make more money for a wedding but in this economy...money is money-why get picky about a job? But that is just my 2 cents...

April Planning...I'm not sure how I feel about AAA. Any interaction I have had with them, they have always been kind of blah. Their TA's just don't seem that into it really and ANY TA will/should help with getting you the best deal possible.

As for meal picks...LeCellier, 50's Primetime, and Cape May would be my picks...but that's just me...No worries...The dining plan is MORE than worth it. You won't be disappointed. We did free dining a couple of years ago-it was worth it...to the point where DF will not travel without it!

Hi Adelia, glad to hear you guys are getting so much planning done for the wedding PS trip :) It sounds like it will be amazing! I love Le Celier personally but I agree with Kelly, it is a very heavy meal. Do it for dinner not lunch IMO. We did lunch and it was just too much at noontime. Filet Mignon and Cheese Soup are nighttime dishes lol!

I think that is kinda silly about Misty only doing Monday sessions at 3 weeks out... I would call her and see, she seems very reasonable when I have talked to her and I bet she would work something out with you :)

Oh the DG thing... so silly... but at least you can all laugh about it ya know!

:lmao:don't want to fall out on your wedding day:lmao: I wish my dress would get here already so I know what alterations I'm gonna need:confused:

Thanks for all the advice... VERY helpful. I had never really heard of flying fish until the boards and think we will definately check it out during the honeymoon. Seriously you don't wanna fall out!! Atleast you're not strapless-- I've seen too many brides that had their dress 'slip'! I was not gonna fall in that category! :lmao:

Glad I helped a little. I forgot you were doing DDP-- we never do that so I don't know all the in's & out's of it. As for Flying Fish...we've been DVC members @ the BW since 1997 and vetoed the flying fish for years. (I was a VERY picky eater) Finally my mom and I tried it a couple years ago and it was SOOOO delicious that we try to hit it everytime we're in town and sit at the Chef's Counter. It definitely will be a treat for your honeymoon!!! :goodvibes

Our top layer (that is in our freezer) is vanilla cake with raspberry mousse, but we don't really trust it for the anniversary. So we're getting our bottom layer recreated in WDW--Vanilla cake with white choc. mousse and fresh raspberries! Yummy! :cutie:

As far as your new updates:
Seriously it isn't a Disney Wedding (or any wedding) without family drama! Geez..atleast your FIL's seem pretty good about the situation and just letting Grandma do her thing. It's better than the FIL's giving you grief (believe me!!)! I agree with the other girls that it kinda stinks that Misty won't confirm your shoot. Atleast you've already got your e-pics so if you don't get them done w/ her you still have the others. And yea for choosing the BW if it happens!:cheer2:)

That sounds crazy about Misty! Plus you already had those amazing pics from your friend. I'd be heartbroken to go and plan and then have her cancel. But good for you on your outlook on the family drama.

Yes they are going back to 180 days for ADRs :confused3

I'd be annoyed with Misty if I was cancelled for a wedding. She either takes the booking or she doesn't in my opinion.
I have mixed emotions for the ADR's... on one hand for booking our wedding dinner at Ohana's it will be nice to have that confirmed 180 days in advance... but on the other hand it's hard to know where we want our other ADR's til we know park hours:confused: I guess you just can't have everything! I think I'm going to e-mail Misty and find out more details bc it just doesn't seem quite right.

DF and I talked about it again today and he really wants to go with AAA:confused3 I don't really see any benefit to it AT ALL! I told him I'd go with him tomorrow to talk to the lady... I think may just outright ask her- "what is the benefit of booking through AAA????" Can't wait to hear her answer!

Hi Adelia, glad to hear you guys are getting so much planning done for the wedding PS trip :) It sounds like it will be amazing! Oh the DG thing... so silly... but at least you can all laugh about it ya know!
Yeah I'll take my hilarious grandma and her dog drama over the rest of your girls drama any day! I am gonna call Misty and find more about the engagement sessions... it just doesn't seem right that she would cancel with someone who's coming from out of town and won't be alble to reschedule.

That sounds crazy about Misty! Plus you already had those amazing pics from your friend. I'd be heartbroken to go and plan and then have her cancel. But good for you on your outlook on the family drama.
Yeah we definately don't need any more e-pics as I love the ones I have... I'm more so just concerned about feeling comfortable with her on the wedding day, I feel like we should atleast meet her first. But even if we don't I have heard nothing but wonderful things about her so I'm sure it will end up being fine in the end.

That Misty thing is really annoying!!

We went to Biergarten last year and loved it!! Great food, atmosphere and theming :thumbsup2

yea, def call Misty and see what she says. Maybe she would just have to sdjust the time of your E-shoot if she has a wedding?? I just read about someones Misty E-Shoot... I cant remember who it was now.... hmmm it will come to me, and they had a great experience. I'll let you know when I remember and my brain starts working again lol!

It took me two days, but I caught up with your journal!! I love that you are getting married at Sunset Pointe. That was the place I wanted most, but we knew there was no way we could get our guest count low enough. I love your dress, and I'm so happy for you that you ended up with your "dream dress" :goodvibes I also noticed that your next trip ends just as I will be arriving for my wedding!!! Maybe you can spread some Pixie Dust around SBP for me for good luck? :rotfl:

I love your at home reception site. It looks amazing!!! That's totally that kind of place I wanted...but unfortunately am stuck with a deposit on a ballroom that we are not sure what to do with. It's only about a three hour drive for me to get where yours is....maybe I should look into it :rotfl:. Oh, and I love fruity beer as well! Have you every had "Fruli"? It's a Belgium beer that has 25% strawberry puree....It's heaven on earth my friend!

Wow, I just read through your PJ and all your planning so far looks great! I love the tropical Christmas colors you chose and I think Sunset Pointe is the most beautiful spot you could have a wedding at Disney! I wish they let you have more than 10 people!

You have so many unique ideas and elements to your wedding, I can't wait to see more! I love the little shells for the rings and sand hourglass.

I'm in the same boat as you working night shift and struggling with healthy eating! I'm doing better though, since we got engaged I've lost about 10lbs. It's just too hard to find time to work out, though. Plus it's stressful, so you want to eat crappy. Anyways, I guess it's not so new anymore but how is the rapid response team going? That always looked like a cool job to have.

About the Misty shoot - you already have amazing photos so it's not like you need them but for me, it was worth it to get used to her style and being in front of the camera with her. I thought it was pricey too but I think it will pay off when we have fabulous wedding photos! DF and I had never had photos taken together so we really needed it. We had ours done in July and they only said it had to be Mon-Thurs, not just a Mon. I doubt she would, but if she does cancel on you last minute while you're already here, I'd be happy to take your e-photos for you. :rotfl:

That Misty thing is really annoying!!

We went to Biergarten last year and loved it!! Great food, atmosphere and theming :thumbsup2
I've been reading up on other bride's experiences and it sounds like she is much more flexible than what is stated on the website:thumbsup2 Now I'm just trying to decide how likely we are to actually do it before I start bothering her with tons of ?'s:rotfl2: I'm glad you enjoyed Biergarten... I've heard nothing but good things about it lately and I tend to like German food so I'm hoping it will be fun. I hear there's some sort of entertainment there and was wondering if certain times are better to go than others? We'll be going for dinner but is early or late better?

Pass on the AAA news when you get it...I'd be interested in hearing what they say...Thanks!
If I go I will definately let you know what they say... DF has finally let up on booking through AAA so I may just let the whole AAA thing go and book directly through Disney. I have also requested a quote through Dreams Unlimited just for fun but I doubt there price quote will be any better but will keep you updated.

yea, def call Misty and see what she says. Maybe she would just have to sdjust the time of your E-shoot if she has a wedding?? I just read about someones Misty E-Shoot... I cant remember who it was now.... hmmm it will come to me, and they had a great experience. I'll let you know when I remember and my brain starts working again lol!
I agree Sam, I have read about several Misty e-shoots lately and it doesn't sound like anyone had problems so I think I'm worrying about nothing!

YAY- I'm so glad you caught up! Sunset Pointe is lovely but the guest count is KILLER! Sunset Pointe wouldn't really go with your awesome theme though so I guess it all works out in the end:goodvibes What day do you arrive for your wedding... do we overlap at all? If so maybe we could meet up... but if not I'll spread lots of pixie dust around for you! Also I've never heard of Fruli... I went to their website but it didn't list any US locations- but if you've had it and you're only 3 hours away from my reception site- maybe I should drive to Canada and get some!:lmao:

:rotfl:
YAY- you followed over as well! I'm so glad to hear you had a good experience with Misty, it sounds like she must be much more flexible than what the website says:cool1: Does she give you much instruction about poses etc or does she just expect you to do your own thing? DF and I need a bit of instruction seeing as we're not professional models (I know you all thought we were:lmao:) If she cancels though I may be giving you a call:rotfl:
I'm so excited to have another night shifter following along as well- YAY for bad eating habits and not working out:headache::hug::eek: I'm actually doing a lot better too- ok well I HAD been but then I hurt my back (again) and haven't exercised since the end of July:scared1: But thanks to my chiropracter I think I'm doing better again and should be able to start up again soon (next week:rolleyes1)
