We are staying off site and will be dining at O'Hana in the AM and then going to MK. Can we leave are car at the Polynesian and take either the boat or monorail?

Nope...you're only allowed 3 hours at the Polynesian. If you really want to do it, I think you can pay for valet parking and stay there.

A couple other suggestions to minimize your car travel: go ahead and park at the TTC. When the tram drops you off (or if you walk it), there is a short walk to the Polynesian. If you don't want to do that, you could take the resort monorail just one stop to the Poly. The walk is very short though (maybe 5 minutes, if that). In either case, your car is already at the TTC and you're good for the day.

Thanks for the information! We are traveling with 2 in carseats so I didn't want to have to strap them in and out 2 different times.

This.

WDW theme park parking is $17.
WDW resort valet parking is $20 (plus tip).

It will be so much easier with your little ones, not to hassle with the trams and a long walk to the car at the end of the day, for basically $5.00 more.

When you approach the MK main gate, stay in the right lane (not the bus lane). Tell the CM you are dining at the Poly and he/she should wave you through (no parking fee). Stay to the right and follow the signs. At the Poly security booth, say you have a dining reservation and wish to valet park. You will be directed to the front of the hotel, where the valet will give you a "claim check" for your car.

As with regular parking, valet parking is good for the day and you have in/out privileges at any WDW resort that provides valet.

What is the fastest way from Poly to MK?

If the monorail is operating, that is the fastest way to MK from Poly. It makes a quick stop at GF, and then on to MK. Going to Poly from MK, I'd take the boat. It only has a stop at GF before going to the Poly, while the monorail has stops at Contemporary and the TTC before getting to the Poly, and those stops can be quite slow.

When we were there in march we parked at poly, spent the day at mk and then came back to poly for dinner show. They looked up our reservation and did not charge us.

And possibly ruined someone's vacation at the Poly. There is nothing more horrible than to return to your home resort and not find a parking spot because someone chose to do this. And it does happen. Just because you got away with it did not make it right.

The people staying at the Poly have to be able to find a parking spot there. They don't have another alternative. You may have gotten a spot because people staying at the Poly had driven to another park. The courteous thing to do is to park only for your ADR or use valet. Otherwise, follow the signage that the lot is not for MK parking and park at the TTC.

This could be. Last summer (I think) we had a dinner reservation at 'Ohana, so we drove there. I wound up dropping the family off after cruising around the parking lot so we wouldn't lose our ADR. It probably took me another 10 minutes or so to find a spot. It doesn't always happen, but parking can get quite tight at the Poly.

That being said, I believe there was some parking lot construction going on at the time so the capacity may not have been what it should have been and fast forwarding to present day, the Poly capacity is down a bit due to DVC construction. Moving forward, it will be interesting to see if Poly parking is expanded since the resort is expanding. I can't think of a lot of room for additional parking, but I would think its in the works.

In any event, I would encourage everyone to stick to the guidelines...if you're there just for a meal, absolutely use the parking lot, but leave when you're done.

Not sure how much pressure it puts on that resort's management to better control parking but the resort has to give valet parking free to guests staying there if the regular lots are full.
