Polynesian rooms

Just found this but would like see if anyone has a specific room experience

I booked a deluxe studio at the Poly and the room request options were Moorea and Tokelau. I’m not sure about room request. I paid $900+ per night and I’m not DVC. We are going Christmas/New Years week

If you want a chance of a peek a boo castle view, request Tokelau. All the standard view rooms at Moorea will be a landscaping view.

If we are in our room/resort for fireworks we would probably go down to the beach vs watching it from the room.

Hoping it would be warm to use the pool in Dec. last Nov it got down to low 70s (lowest was 56 and we had packed up our jackets so bought a blanket at Epcot) and it was cold.

We are driving down (first time) but not sure if we will use our car (we usually stay in the bubble and eat in parks/resorts). We are going the last week of Dec so ADRs are going to be hard to get. Do we park our car in the DVC parking lot? Is there a valet or self parking? How does parking for an ADR at a different resort work (would do this if we’re in a crunch).

I would stay away from requesting specific room numbers, if those rooms aren't available (or not in your category), the assignors will have no idea why you requested them. Stick with simply requests such as specific buildings in your room category, upper floor, etc.

I had the option of choosing Tokelau or Moorea; Pago Pago not available. Additionally, only "lower floor" was an option, not "upper floor" - is this a glitch?

The online check-in room preference options across all the Disney resorts often leave a lot to be desired - they typically don't have complete info or may not even be applicable to your booking category. General consensus is to call in any requests you may have and leave the online check-in options blank.

Hope that helps.

I just got back, and the path to GF is closed and the construction is a huge mess. I wouldn't want to be staying Poly cash at all until DVC is at least mostly done, which could take a long time. This is a big project.

Those were the exact same options for me but I’m assuming I just booked the trip so other room categories/building options have already sold out.

Thanks to you all! I switched from Moorea to Tokelau after watching the YouTube video above and all your suggestions.

We stayed at the GF almost a decade ago and had a lagoon view. We hated those boat horns early in the morning and into the night. Lake view wasn’t an option, but we wouldn’t have booked it anyway knowing how loud it can get.

I think this is probably what you mean, but I’m just making sure. You can’t “book” Moorea or Tokelau, they are only location requests (unless you book the “Deluxe Studio - Lake View” category, those will be in Moorea). “Deluxe Studio - Standard View” rooms can be in either Moorea, Tokelau, or Pago Pago. While Disney is often good with accommodating room requests, they can’t always accommodate everyone. Tokelau is a pretty popular longhouse request given its central location and that Pago Pago is less desirable for some - but on the plus side it’s a decent size so lots of potential rooms there to meet requests.

Hope it works out for you.

Lake view is a ‘booking’ option. I don’t know where I said book for Moorea but I know those are preferences subject to availability. Pogo pogo is no longer a preference option probably due to its proximity to the TTC and lot of people already requesting it.

We are going during the busiest time of the year so I do know an exact room request won’t be honored (I’ve requested through TP as a paid member and once got exactly what I wanted and then the end of the building - completely opposite to what we wanted; quite a trek at AKL we changed rooms).
