Want to stay at the Polynesian Resort with my DVC points and I was wondering what type of room they give you. I just see on the points chart that they have a choice of garden view, lagoon view, or club level but it doesnt say if the room is a suite or a regular room. Does anyone know what the room type is? Thanks.

We did this several years ago. We were given a nice room on the first floor of Aeotearoa (?) with a garden view. It was a nice, standard view room.

I'm sure you would get a standard room unless you request Club level with the extra points. Last year we stayed Club level at the Polynesian and it was so worth it. It was a nice first floor room facing the Magic Kingdom and the perks were wonderful.

Yup, get get a standard room, but it is quite large. We stayed on New Year's Eve a few years ago. All of the DVC units were full, so we stayed at the Poly on points. I requested a Lagoon View room and we got it. That year it poured cats and dogs on New Year's Eve. While everyone was getting drenched at MK for the fireworks, we went to our room and opened the blinds... nice and dry.

How many points does it cost to stay for a night at poly Average ? I'm still fairly new to DVC and didn't know this was possible

Anywhere from 42 to 120 points per night. Three views, five season, Sun-Thur and Fri/Sat.

This is great info! I am calling today to change my ressie. We had to add days and I am wait listed but in talking to my DBF we decided not to add days at the park or the dining plan. Poly concierge would be a perfect fit! We would have the lounge and we can hang at the pool.
KKCannon-Im happy to hear someone who thinks it was worth it. So many people say don't ever use your points on non DVC resorts because it's not worth the extra points. We have a high surplus of points right now because we banked last year AND we unfortunately will not be traveling to WDW next year.

If you purchased your contract(s) resale after a certain date (not sure which date), you won't be able to use your points for WDW hotel rooms. Or for Disney Cruises, for that matter.

I think March 20, 2011?

Some years back at the last minute family members joined us and I had to change rooms so I got 2 poly rooms facing the quiet pool just of the ceremonial house. At that time you could have garden, pool,Garden concierge and water concierge. The points where double but well worth it.Can't wait to see the point chart and what it's going to cost.i can see us staying here but not that much since we are more interested in how long then where we are.

I think i would rent my points and pay cash... the cost they charge for points doesn't seem to hold the value that rented points are worth... although you do have a little bit of DIY hassle... I know some people don't like that.

Some things to consider:

You can't do it if you bought resale after 3/20/2011.

There's a $95 fee, which will be charged again if there are any changes.

If you change your mind, these points will be "reservation points" and can't be used for a DVC resort and expire at the end of your use year.

Poly is a mess right now with construction. The main pool is closed until January.

There's always Blizzard Beach! Inconvenient, but not a bad substitute.

I wouldn't want to stay at the Poly with all the construction and refurbishment work currently going on.

They do a good job at trying to hide it.... But it still in some parts looks like a bit of a building site. It just spoils the magic.... I don't want up see lots if screening and fenced off areas when I am staying at a property on vacation.

We are just back from WDW and saw what was going on and are grateful we didn't decide to stay at the Poly this time. Will be happy to return once the work is done.
