I would like to stay at the Polynesian, but, I'm concerned about the "smell" that is sometimes associated with the resort. Is there really a smell? Are some people's noses more sensitive. My mom always seems to smell odors, when I look at her like she's crazy. I can usually smell smoke or heavy must odors. I just don't want to invest money in a deluxe and be disppointed.

:earsgirl:

Smell? I've never noticed a smell at the Poly. That is my absolute favorite resort and I'll be going there next October with my boyfriend. I can't wait.

If there was a smell or anything, my guess is that with all of the remodeling that is being done there, everything should be pretty fresh and new now.

I haven't either but obviously some people do notice it or it wouldn't have been mentioned.

The only "smell" at the Poly is a earthy aroma due to all the running water and tropical plants. :confused3 I think the Poly smells wonderful.

I have never noticed any smell at all.

Only smiells I can remember are the good one's; the main lobby of the GCH, you know when you first go to check in, it's a smell like no other, you know you're at the Poly. The smell of all the vegetation when you walk the grounds, the hallway in your longhouse always has a distinct, clean smell. Nope, no bad smells come to mind, we'll be back in Oct. See you all there.

I agree that the Poly scent is wonderful...it IS like no other...and I've missed it! It's a nice, tropical smell in the GCH, it hits you as you're walking towards the doors. :goodvibes Can't wait to go next week! :cool1:

Oh my gosh, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND where this "smell" thing comes from, We stayed at the Polynesian for our first Disney trip last April, Tahit Lagoon View, and LOVED every minute of it!!!! NO SMELL, BEAUTIFUL, MAGICAL time. I am a relativly "high maintenance" woman. (hence the fact we are going concierge this April) Our family had a wonderful stay with NO SMELL!

It was always my thought that any smell reported by guests was either random smells from the last tenants of the room, or the tropical foliage beds. (perhaps the mulch they use?) Heck, maybe it's the lagoon itself?! Or possibly the gas that they use in the torches?

That all being said, I have never encountered a weird smell at the Poly.

I have never smelled anything before... unless I was in one of their restaurants, then I smell the wonderful food... but... thats not a bad smell, unless your hungry and just looking around. :D\

in my opinion, its probably my third favorite, so you should so book there. we don't stay there anymore because we are DVC members... but still! :D
