I need help. We are struggling with where to stay during our WDW trip. We have 5 people in our family. 17, 16 and 12 year old.
We are trying to decide between Port Orleans Riverside and Polynesian Deluxe studio. I love the size of the Polynesian room but the living space actually seems smaller then the Port Orleans room, due to the size of the bathrooms. I also don't care for the second bed being a pull out couch.
We have stayed at Riverside and love it but would love to stay on the monorail for once.
Any suggestions.?
FYI..... Polynesian is $2,100 more

Just had this exact dilemma. Ended up choosing Poly, because the bus situation at POR seemed a little much for my toddlers.
Maybe you've already done this, but make a pro/con list for each and compare. It helped me decide.

We are also a family of 5 and if you're planning on an actual bed for all of your children, then you might want a different option entirely. Those small fold down twin beds are quite small and I don't think any of my children could sleep comfortably on them after about age 10. YMMV, of course. Could you rent DVC points? Or stay at AOA? Or maybe it would be better, considering the ages of your children, to get two connecting rooms?

Sorry, I'm not answering your question! Riverside is my least favorite resort (I know I'm in a minority here.) but because of the $2,100 price difference, I would probably still choose to stay there. You can do a lot with an extra $2,100!

Have a great trip! :)

Why not just book the Polynesian hotel room? They usually sleep five with two queens and a daybed.

We have stayed at Riverside the past 3 trips. Mainly due to finances :)
I absolutely HATE the buses there but I love the resort.
I def prefer to stay at the Polynesian but don't know if my 16 and 17 year old sons would want to sleep on a pull out couch for 8 nights. Ugh
My daughter is very tiny and had problem seeping on the pull down bed in September.
Is it worth $2100 to stay at the Polynesian, considering 1 of the beds is a pull out couch?

The bed for the 5th person is the smaller murphy bed at both POR and the Poly Studio. I would do a normal room at the Poly, because the daybed is much larger, and can accommodate an adult. You'll get two real beds as well.

The pull down murphy is recommended for kids 9 and under.

Can't speak for the OP, but I decided to book a Poly Studio Villa because it was $150/night cheaper than the available Poly standard rooms. Wonder if this is their reason, too.

I would love to stay in the standard room but there all sold out the days were going
My 12 year old daughter is very very tiny and would have no problem on a Murphy bed.
Trying to figure out the best option with the limited choices were given.

They are not available to dates were going.

This is very subjective, so I really can't answer. Seems like it's comfort vs convenience.
Maybe the problem is neither resort is quite right? Have you checked to see if there is a 2 queen bed standard room available at any of the other deluxes for less $$ than the Poly Villa?

IMHO, no. But I'm like that...even though we can afford to stay deluxe, I have to get a fantastic deal to do it because I just have a hard time justifying cost. I look at the price difference and I think "what else could I do with $x,xxx?" and then I just can't pull the trigger. In your case, the only advantage is the transportation...well, you can rent a car for a LOT less money than $2,100. So, if you spend $200 for a rental car and use it to get around to the parks, what else could you do with $1,900?

Only you can make the right choice for your family. Maybe just talk to the kids and see what they think?

How about Saratoga Springs or Old Key West one bedroom villas? They have one king bed, one queen sleeper and a twin sized sleeper chair.

How about the GF or the CR? Both are on the monorail and have huge comfortable rooms
