Has anyone done both of these dinners? I have yet to do either and I would like to try one this summer. It will just be my mother and I - no children. If anyone can tell me of their experiences... I would greatly appreciate it. Did you think they were worth the price?

Also, if there's any place that I can read standardized reviews that give a little more information about the show itself - I would love to know about that as well.

I've done both but it has been awhile. O'hana's is more of a family atmosphere. While you are dining (food is brought to your table and is delicious!!), the MC will sing on the ukelele and invite kids up to play with hulu hoops or a coconut racing game. There are generally no hulu dancers although one time the weather was so bad out that they had to cancel the luau so some of the dancers came into O'hanas and showed us some moves. My DH and I have gone many times w/o children and enjoyed it immensely.

The Luau is outside under a covered pavillion. I don't know if the theme has changed since we last went or not. When we went, the hostess would come onto stage and talk about one of the polynesian islands. Then the dancers would perform the traditional dances for that island. Several islands were represented. The food was different from O'hanas. There was lighting, but it was dimmed so that you could concentrate on the stage show. I would consider this to be a more adult activity although there will be children I am sure.

The food and menu is vastly different, both in content and quality. The food at the luau is passable, good would not be an adjective I would use, however, I have always loved the atmosphere and the show. The food at Ohana's is very good, the atmosphere is fun and the entertainment is a matter of taste. I have always enjoyed it when Kaleo was there. He has his songs that he sings but on break he would often come to our table to sing some Braddah Iz songs.

I've done both and would recommend 'Ohana. The food is really good there. The Luau was pretty lame and not worth the cost. The food was decent, but the storyline left a lot to be desired. I'd definitely go back to 'Ohana.

I would recommend Ohana's for dinner. It is cheaper than the Luau and I feel it is a better deal. The luau show wasn't all that impressive.
