Polynesian Counter Service Breakfast Options

My family is staying at the Polynesian in April 2008 and have some concerns regarding counter service breakfast options at this resort. According to the 2008 DDP brochure, the only counter service restaurant at this resort is Captain Cook's. I checked the menu on wdwinfo and noticed that the only breakfast items are cold cereal, oatmeal and assorted fruits. It seems like a waste of a CS credit on these menu items. Last year at the Wilderness Lodge, Roaring Forks had egg platters with bacon, home fries, biscuit and two drinks for 1 CS credit.

My questions are:

  1. Is the menu on wdwinfo correct?
  2. Are there any hot foods such as eggs available at Captain Cooks?
  3. If we can't get a decent breakfast using CS credits at the Polynesian, then what are our best options? We don't want to use our TS credits at breakfast.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Welcome to the DIS.:surfweb:

The menu is incomplete as is often the case. I know Tonga Toast is an option...and a fine one at that. There are other choices as well.

They have breakfast platters and other hot items (pretty good too!). Check out the menu from allearsnet.com: http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_chh.htm - it is from 11/06, but we were there in Jan./Feb. this year and the menu was the same or close.

Hope this helps!

I was there in September. You can get, in addition to the pastries, oatmeal, etc., Mickey Waffles, breakfast platters (eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, and a biscuit), Tonga Toast (not a fan, but lots of people seem to like it). They will also make croissant sandwiches with eggs and cheese and possibly bacon. I didn't notice these on the menu, but I saw plenty of people eating them. It's really just like the counter service breakfasts at every other resort. Plenty of choices.

Have a great time!

Thanks everybody for the quick responses. I'm glad they have some hot breakfast items at Captain Cook's. We are not visiting WDW so we can eat cold cereal :). Vacation is all about eating the bad things that we don't eat at home!

Just a word of warning: if you decide to pick something up and take it back to your room, make sure you grab a plate cover or put it in a bag. DH went to get me breakfast one morning and a seagull snatched a breakfast potato right off the plate. :)

Another hint if you do decide you want something light - you can use a snack credit for any of the pastry items at Captain Cook's! The chocolate chip crossaints are to die for!
