We stayed in the Hawaii building from May5-11th. I had questioned prior to our vacation if I we were doing the right thing staying in the concierge building. For all of you out there who also have doubts, my answer is Yes, it is worth every penny. From check-in to check-out our stay was wonderful! The concierge service was able to secure a ps at Cinderell's Royle Table for us when we had difficulty getting it, along with changing other ps times for us. They were always friendly and helpful. The food offerings were great. From the 2-3 cups of coffee for each adult each day, the fresh fruit, cereal and danish for ds to the 5-8 waters a day, cookies in the afternoon, crustless p&j sandwiches and lite bites from 5-7p.m. and yes the wine (2-3 glassses) per day to the cordials and desserts at night, life was wonderful. I know I'm rambling on but.... The proximity of the building to the pool, beach and grand ceremonial building could not be beat. When staying in this building there is no need for the mug program, plus you get a frig. in your room. This is the way to go. We are hooked on the Polynesian Concierge.

Thank you for posting! I have been questioning my decision to leap from moderate to deluxe and splurging for conceirge!

jazmyin,

It sounds like you had a wonderful time! I have a question that may sound silly, but I was just reading another thread about the Polynesian, and more than 1 poster said that they and/or their family members were very pestered by mosquitoes, on the beach, in the lobby, almost everywhere. Did you notice anything like this or have any problems with mosquitoes?

There were three of us on vacation. I did notice that myself and my friend did get several bites while eating at Rose and Crown in Epcot. My DS did get one bite as well as me, when watching the electrical parade from the dock. Other than the above, we did not get any other bites. I hope this answers your question.

Thanks for the comments! We want to book a concierge stay at either the Poly or the WL...fot this Oct. Its about a 600.00 difference between both hotels & I cannot decide. I also read it was very "buggy" @ the poly. This decision is sooo hard...teeter...todder.....back & fourth! Maybe I should just flip a coin!

I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip. The Poly is one of our favorites and the concierge service is wonderful.

I'm happy to hear you felt you made a good choice with Polynesian concierge service. It's certainly our family's favorite!

As to the "mosquito" issue--we go nearly every year in June and have never been bitten by a mosquito while in WDW. Strange as it may seem. . .now, at home--you can't walk out the door without those pests bugging you! I'm wondering if it's a hatching issue based upon the season? I'm sure our FL DIS folks can reply to this question with greater authority than those of us who merely visit.

Eagerly awaiting our return!

I'm with Tess...we've never had a problem at the Polynesian with mosquitoes. I just posted this elsewhere but we've been at the Polynesian in J,F,M,A,M,J,J,O,N, and December and never had a problem. One early June trip we were in the FW trailers and did have to be careful but nothing worse than at home and nothing like northern WI or MN...but that's another story.:D

Glad to hear that most have not had a "buggy" experience at the Polynesian - I got kind of freaked out by the post that mentioned 40+ mosquito bites on a child  !

Hi - I was glad to hear your glowing review. I am thinking of booking the "concierge - garden view" which is the only option available at the time I wish to go. Can anyone give me specifics as to what this might mean? Since it is "concierge" is it likely to look out on a parking lot? The CM wasn't very helpful on this matter - except to say that the unavailable lagoon view was more expensive. (I don't mind a lesser view, I just don't want to look at parked cars if it can be avoided.)

Thanks.

Maddle

When did the Polynesian Concierge start serving wine? That's great if it is now available!

Wine has been available at Polynesian since we began staying there in the mid-90s. Cordials at dessert service as well.

Maddle: You won't have to worry about a parking lot view in the concierge service, even in a GV room. You don't say when you are planning your trip. Concierge will be housed in the Tahiti building from 6/1 through mid-October. Thereafter it will return to the refurbished Hawaii building. The former listed building GV rooms look out on lovely vegetation. The latter the quiet pool and landscaping.

Enjoy your trip!

The Polynesian is wonderful!
It is so nice to hear you had such a great time!

I have never experienced any more "bugs" at the Polynesian than at any of the other resorts....

Laura :)

Tess - Thank you for that very useful information. We are thinking of going the last full week of June, and I asked for the Armed Forces Salute Discount. Of course I expected my choices to be limited on such short notice, and there were no rooms available except "concierge" at the Poly - but the CM didn't mention that the rooms were moved! What will there be for a "lounge" and comparable amenities?....What a disappointment.

Silver lining - We can go at a later date, and the rooms will be refurbished.

Thank you for the review of the Poly concierge!

Hi:

I thought the concierge was moved to the tahiti building. Is it all done already, or has it not started yet.

Puffy 2 : We got hooked on the poly's white zinfindal wine, it is the only one that does not give me a migraine in the morning. We now buy it in Canada while at home.

Thanks,

Deb.

Concierge "officially" moves on 6/1. Refurbishment begins on 6/1. It's my understanding that those folks checking in now will be in Hawaii and next week(?) a choice between the two provided their stay doesn't extend beyond 6/1. I'm sure someone can correct me if I've gotten that bit wrong.

Services will remain as they were in Hawaii. The lounge will be housed in two LV facing rooms with tables and food. The large TV and seating will be in a common area outside the "food" lounge and will face GV. The primary difference is simply the change of longhouses. I'm confident you will receive the same great concierge service the Polynesian staff has always provided!

You're right about the silver lining--looking forward to a completely refurbished concierge building next trip! :D

Good job Tess. I only have one correction. They will have concierge guests in both Hawaii and Tahiti from June 1 till June 8. If your stay goes past June 8th you will check into Tahiti. If you chekc in and leave before June 8th you will be in Hawaii.

If you keep giving out the good info I won't have to post anymore Tess.

Aloha

Steve
