Polynesian-best bldg-best way to request it

Question for anyone who has stayed at the Poly.

We are booked for a Garden View room. Which longhouse would be your favorite for a GV room and why?

Are there any particular rooms in that longhouse that are better than others?

And finally, what is the best strategy in requesting a paricular longhouse or room?

I'm going to fax a room request a few days before my trip requesting a 3rd floor room in Tokelau, Fiji or Samoa. You can also call CRO or your travel agent and have your requests noted on your reservation.

3rd room floor of Tahiti!!!!!!!!!!!!! Garden view was awesome!
couple of steps away from TTC, so convenient. quiet and steps from beach. also double vanity sinks.
we request it with our reservation, and get to poly to checkin early! this past trip was 7am.......

We were assigned to Raratonga and found it heavenly. It is nonsmoking, newly renovated, and steps away from the lobby and both pools. My kids thought they were hot stuff because they could go refill the mugs all by themselves! Our view was toward the quiet pool. I would BEG for Raratonga again.

I made my request when I booked the reservation, then called the resort directly a few days ahead. I reminded them of my request and pointed out that the proximity to the lobby was very important for my Mom, who uses a scooter and has asthma. The lady whom I spoke with was very kind and assured me I had a good assignment... Obviously we had been pre-assigned. This may well be because we had a "medical request" involved. Sending the fax or calling ahead seems reasonable.

I stayed in Tahiti -- it's close to the TTC and the beach is pretty quiet. It is a slightly longer walk to the GCH though, not much though
