Polynesian 2nd floor with no balcony?

Has anyone stayed in one of these or even better, have any pictures of it from inside the room? I'm hoping to stay at the Poly in September and I'd really like to get a better idea of what they look like before I request a building or room. If the door is open, can you get the feeling of a balcony? I'm hoping for 2 queen rooms connecting and it seems like a lot of these are on the second floor. Thanks!

I don't have a picture but the "door" is a slider that opens but there is a "railing " that protects you from falling.

I haven't had a second floor room at Poly (only 3rd and 1st), but stayed in a similar room in CR, Garden Wing. It did have a balcony feel, you just couldn't walk out onto anything. One suggestion, if connecting queen rooms is your priority, I would only list that on your reservation. You will have a better chance of getting it if you don't request a certain longhouse or location. IMHO, there are no bad longhouses at Poly!

I have also stayed in the Garden wing at the CR with the same type setup. It really isn't that bad, the sliding doors open to the outside rail. You don't get to go outside, but you can sit by the opening and feel very similar to being on an enclosed balcony, with a nice view of the grounds.

If you don't need to be in a separate area (such as with a napping baby), it is quite doable. I prefer a third floor balcony, but would sometimes rather the second floor rail to a first floor patio (depends upon location and traffic). My Mom always requests 2nd or 3rd floor at the CR in the garden wing, for example, and those rooms all have this setup. Mom much prefers to be above ground level and is fine without a balcony, but likes to open a window.

If you don't care to sit outside with a coffee or drink (like my Mom), then the 2nd floor is even a preferred choice for some. It kind of gives a better view from the room without the balcony 'in between' - at least that's what my Mom says.

We had one of these and I really liked it. It is similar to how the rooms at the Disneyland hotel used to be which I also loved. It you open the door wide it is very nice, almost like outside is coming in. However I know lots of people do not like this compared to a balcony. Here is a photo. It is hard to tell but I am standing at the railing. The balcony from the third row room is above. We loved pulling a chair up to the railing and relaxing.

Thanks everybody--that is exactly what I was looking for. Now one more silly question- if the rooms don't have balconies, is the inside of the room a foot or so bigger than the ones that do have balconies? Where did that space go?

In the building we were in the room was the same size as the one above and below.

The rooms are not bigger but once we were assigned 2nd floor and we didn't really miss having a balcony. I think reading these boards put me in the mindset that having a 2nd floor room would be a complete downer on the trip, but how much time do we really spend on the balcony? Some but not a ton. A good location/view really ended up being more important to us. We had TPV but the view was still great with the door open even though we couldn't step out on a balcony. Not the best picture but the site wont upload my panoramic view.

The space didn't go anywhere. The room is exactly the same size. Just the rail is at the point the balcony would start. The door is exactly where the 3rd floor door is. What you will see on second floor is the third floor balcony stretching out above you.
