Through personal experience, does anyone know FOR SURE that the 3rd floor in the Hawaii Building is now 100% NON-SMOKING? Not "smoking optional", but truly NON-Smoking.

TIA!

Anne

Nope! I do not know for sure! I also do not not know for sure!

LOL! - have a good day!

I could not resist

Anne,

We were there in Dec. and I thought the whole floor was non smoking but I didn't go up and down the hall, nor did I ask. I am allergic to smoke and I didn't smell anything the entire week. If it had been at the other end of the hall I would have smelt it before anyone else.

We requested non smoking due to asthmatics in our family. I was surprised when we were put on the 3rd floor.

Anne,

I'm sure if you e-mailed the IPO office for Poly and WL they would be able to tell you.

I thought I read a post a few days ago about someone who said they were smoking on the 3rd floor so you may want to confirm what exactly it is-smoking or non smoking.

:teeth: But don't e-mail them until you post your pictures from the Grand One. ::yes:: :teeth:

Ugh on the posting photo's. I'm out of server space. Trying to find an alternative.

Smoking rooms have yet to be eliminated from the Hawaii building however, they have been minimized. The end of the 3rd floor is still smoking optional however, the rooms closer to the loft area are non smoking. Most of our guests respect that we ask them not to smoke in this part of the hallway therefore, you'd never be able to tell that guests may smoke on the other end of the hallway. Please let us know if you'd like for me to note that you'd prefer a 3rd floor non smoking room.

This was in response to an e-mail I sent to Island Planning last week. It is the official word from Polynesian Concierge. While I have yet to be there to personally experience it, I believe it answers both your questions.

I received about the same response from the IPO office.

I'd have to stay on a completely non-smoking floor at the Poly. Just my opinion.

I was just kidding about the photos. I'll wait patiently.

::yes::

I, too, have received this response from IPO. When I requested a non-smoking 3rd floor room, IPO stated that while some of the rooms are non-smoking, there may be "drifting" smoke from other rooms out on the balconies, and to take this into account.

I guess I'll have to decide if I want to take the chance for the view.

The view is useless if you have to run inside all the time to escape the smoke... This happened to me last summer at the Wilderness Lodge. Our room was ns and perfect, but every time I went out on the balcony, people next to me or below me (on both sides, it seemed) would come out to smoke! I swear they followed me... I kept running inside and griping to hubby, something along the lines of "Why aren't all the smoking rooms clustered together in one area?

Poly has completely non-smoking buildings and when we go in June, I am asking for one of those! :)

colleen costello,

May I ask what type of room you had at WL and the general location of it?

This happened to us on a vacation last year. We were in a non-smoking wing and couldn't sit out on our balcony because people on both sides were smoking. We couldn't even sit out by the pool. Unfortunately, we won't be going back to that hotel-and we were married there.

Well, I e-mailed them, and this is what I got back:

"As always, we are here to assist you with priority seatings and any questions you may have. I have added on that you will need a Non Smoking room due to medical reasons. Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee this however, we will do our best. You are more than welcomed to call 407-934-7639 and speak someone in our special needs departments. They may just require a doctors note in order to guarantee you a non smoking room.

To answer your questions, the 3rd floor does now have some rooms that are non smoking however, half of the hallway, towards the end, remains smoking optional."

I called Special Services, and they were able to take care of this for me. The odd part is that my confirmation speficially states "Guaranteed Non-Smoking", yet the pre-planning people indicate that it's not guaranteed. Now I'm thinking about switching to another resort...
